      OK HEAR ME OUT PLEASE.(especially you Cosmo I've enjoyed you from day one and I've told all my fans!! now ponder this please.... I THINK I MAY HAVE A REALLY GOOD REASON WHY WE'RE NOT BEING IN VISITED AS MUCH AS WE SHOULD BE CUZ WE ALL BASICALLY KNOW NOW SOME HAVE VISITED US AND STILL ARE AND AS YOU POINT IT OUT THINGS AROUND 100 LIGHT YOUR EARS AWAY OR SO HAVE SEEN OUR BROADCAST AND HAVE WATCHED US IMPROVE TECHNOLOGY AND IF THEY'RE LITERALLY TAKING WHAT WE'VE BEEN BROADCASTING SERIOUSLY WATCHING THINGS LIKE STAR WARS AND STAR TREK THEY COULD LITERALLY BELIEVE WHAT THEY'RE SEEING AND BE TERRIFIED AND THE ONES THAT HAVE REALLY REALLY HIGH TECHNOLOGY HAVE BEEN WATCHING US CLOSELY TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE NOT GOING TO HURT THEM IT'S REALLY FUNNY BUT IT DEAD SERIOUS COULD BE A BIG REASON ESPECIALLY THE PAST 25 YEARS OR EVEN LONGER LOOK HOW STRONG WE LOOK FROM OUR MOVIES AND TV SHOWS!!!!???? IT'S JUST SOMETHING TO PONDER IT COULD BE A BIG REASON I MEAN REVERSE IT IF WE GOT ALL THAT FROM OUTER SPACE WE'D BE TERRIFIED OF THEM WATCHING STAR WARS AND STAR TREK AND BATTLESTAR GALACTICA THEY LITERALLY HAVE WATCHED HER TECHNOLOGY IMPROVED A MILLION FOLD ALTHOUGH IT'S ALL FAKE CUZ THEY ARE MOVIES AND TV SHOWS!! JUST THINK ABOUT THAT AND THEN GIVE ME YOUR OPINION PLEASE ESPECIALLY YOU COSMO I REALLY LOVE YOUR STATION.

    This is what I've learned; The more I know, the more I realize I DON'T know! I grew up very near Yerkes Observatory (Geneva Observatory) and been there dozens of times. The scientists still sponsor viewing nights.
    I had my first 60x reflector Tscope at 9yo. There's a never ending and fascinating store of knowledge in the universe. I never get bored watching and listening to these expertly produced videos. For anyone who does not know, any increase or decrease in temperature scale is exactly the same for both Kelvin and Celsius, they simply zero at a different point. Zero Kelvin is absolute zero while zero Celsius is the freezing point of water (conditional). A 100 degree increase for either would be identical.

    Makes one wonder if there are intelligent beings on a planet somewhere out in the vastness of this galaxy hundreds or thousands of light-years away from us watching a similar documentary, except it's with our Sun and planets being discussed as some of the new discoveries they have recently made where life might be found.

    • @SeattlePioneer
      @SeattlePioneer Год назад

      Seems unlikely. We have been looking for and listening for signs of intelligent life off the earth for half a century or more. There could have been radio waves from planets thousands of light years away that we might have intercepted, had they existed. But they don't.
      to observe them.
      In the same time, we have observed signs of the Big Bang billions of years ago.
      Logic and reason suggests there is nothing there for us to find.
      Beginning half a century ago, Carl Sagan and his friends postulated the existance of intelligent life as a matter of probability among trillions of stars ---and further postulated that it was just necessary to LISTEN
      We carries out that experiment as describe by Carl Sagan and friends, and have found nothing. That scientific theory must be rejected since the predicted result has never been found.

    Just a few minutes in and I’m wondering about your estimate of how far our radio signals have expanded into the galaxy. While electromagnetic radiation may well have traveled as far as you state, isn’t there a point where their strength drops below the noise level of space and would therefore be undetectable?

    • @thepuma2012
      @thepuma2012 2 года назад

      maybe it has to do with the frequencies we use to transmit, that makes them detectable. And we are not transmitting longer than around a 100 years. Maybe that also would make some signals detectable far away ( especially those commands sent to the voyagers 1 and 2 with very high power?). Anyway, those signals haven t had time to travel far.....

      Not sure if you're kidding/insulting the narrator or not. Because James Buikman is the voice of this channel and I find his voice to be pleasant.

      Five minutes ago, someone claimed that we were listening to a human voice and even gave a name. That comment has disappeared. I agree with you. We are not hearing a human voice. It's close, but a real human voice would be much better to my ears.

      @@australianbloke3934 I'm the one who made the comment using my other RUclips account, brenspin. My original comment is still visible to me.... As I said in that comment, the narrator's name is credited at the end of each video as James Buikman. Not that I have spent much time researching computer-generated voices, but I am skeptical that a computer program is currently capable of sounding so human with inflection, precise pronunciation, conversational pacing, etc. despite my admitting that the narrator does have a somewhat 'robotic' voice. Siri and Alexa don't sound so 'human.' It wouldn't surprise me if the creators of this channel have a vision for a somewhat 'sterile' narration given that the content is about astronomy.

      @@brendanc5710 Hi Brendan. Today your original comment has re-appeared. Odd. I understand what you are saying and agree that the narration is clear and mostly accurate. If I am correct, it is certainly a fine example of how close AI can come to sounding human. If I am incorrect, the narrator seems to have had difficulty in his pronunciation of quite a large number of words. For example, he does not pronounce in the word at 4:14. and yet correctly pronounces this word many times in following narration. This makes me think that pronunciation of individual words depends on what comes before and after. This is part of how an artificially generated voice algorithm works. At around 11:03 we hear Given that the speech is quite precise throughout most of the narration, why do we not hear a at the end of the word ? 11:38 we hear . This should be either OR < Most of these would be missions that were forgotten> These are just a few examples of what makes me think we are not listening to a real person. Maybe the channel creators assigned the name to a computer-generated voice. I must say I find the voice refreshing in many ways in that it is a British-sounding voice but with a few odd pronunciations. A few words were pronounced as I would here in Australia. If James Buikman is a real person, then, as you suggested, maybe he has deliberately recorded the narration in a robotic manner to suit the nature of the content.

    Kudos to the ingenious, breathtaking animations and graphics in this video. This was an extremely informative and interesting journey through our galaxy. The scale of our galaxy and the 200 billion stars and trillions of planets that comprise it make our world look like insignificant speck of dust in space...
