so many people trying to discredit Zero, 😅 the man won 56 tournaments in a row, faced off against many other shieks, top tiers, and great players like Nairo, Esam and abadango, Vinny, etc. and your seriously gonna tell me we won all that "because it s shiek", you can give a soldier the best gun, but the gun itself doesn't do the killing its the soldier wielding it

+Ryan Bahr That's literally how you play Villager in the neutral, against anybody. You can't just go HAM and rush in because he doesn't have great mobility, and his strongest attacks are either way too slow or unsafe on shield.
Everyone complaining about Sheik instead of praising Zero's godlike reactions and knowledge of the game, or praising how Ranai stood toe to toe with Zero in his second ever encounter with him even though no other player was able to adapt to him that quickly. Shame. You just want to complain about a character rather than respecting the amount of skill these two players displayed in this match. You're one of the reasons the Smash fanbase gets the bad reputation of being toxic.
I think its tiresome for some people always see sheik dominate. it gets old. im no smash expert by all means. but when i play with my diddy, falco and pit and have hard marltches against Friends and tourneys wil je, then go sheik and fair/ftilt away and use 50/50s i see on yt and dont practice, thats kinda wack to me. she isnt all that hard to use, some people make it seem. zero is my fav smash4 player and glad he won, but sheik is one of the reasons i kinda shy away from smash4. im not bothering to adapt, not worth it for me. maybe smash 4 not for me. not hating, just thinking its tiresome seeying sheik dominate. not only talking zero and pros. :)
+TimothyNBB You act as if Sm4sh Sheik is comparable to Melee Fox or Brawl MK. You really have to know your stuff to use Sheik at high level of competitive play.

+TimothyNBB Sheik isn't the kind of character that you pick up in two weeks and dominate locals. In competitive fighters, players will tend to pick top tier characters. The way you post about Sheik makes it seem like you think Sheik is on Melee Fox and Brawl MK level, which is far from the truth.

Why cant you appriciate zeros skills? Its not about shiek being top tier at all. Zero cleary did his homework, studied the villager Mu and came out of top cause of that. He made sure ranai could not keep his defensive keep away tactic and forced him to approach which caught ranai of guard. He lost 2 games because of that. Ranai adjusted and came back but zero managed yet again to keep a good balance between an offensive and yet zoning type of play. He won this set because he outplayed ranai and not because of shieks placing in the tier list.
If you ask me shiek isnt even broken. Zss punishes her way too hard and diddy destroys her in neutral.

+DarkFox2071 Diddys fair if placed correctly beats shieks fair and I am not even joking. This is a huge advantage. Shieks fair is her main tool. It is the reason why shiek is in top place. Take it away from her and she loses alot options, safe options. It is a 50:50 mu because shiek can gimp diddy really easily. If a Shiek main knows that a diddy goes for the fair alot then diddy will lose. The player who understands the other better wins. That's it pretty much.
I main diddy since day one and he is much better than people think. Even after all the patches I still think he is top 5. Add zeros skills and you get an unwinnable Match up.

I'm definitely not disgreeing with the meat of your post here, Zero put in mad work and won because of it, but Sheik is still undoubtedly too good for this game. When you have a character that loses one MU at WORST and shits on the remainder of the cast, I think that can be classified as overcentralizing.

+Juan Hurtado god you're such an idiot. He was conditioning ZeRo. Lloyd rocket works as a shield against needles and with lloyd rockst incoming ZeRo's options are limited. He can roll, spotdodge, jump or shield and Ranai tries to punish accordingly.
This set was ridiculously hype, G3 was my favorite tournament ever. Can't wait for these two to face off again.

Both players were doing their best with the characters they play best, and the result is what it is. Stop trying to pit it all on the character, because Ranai would surely wipe the floor with the likes of Mr. R or Vinnie - which are other extremely top Sheik mainers - but not ZeRo.

Ranai beat every other Sheik he met, but my man Zero is a fricking surgeon with Sheik. I can see why Ranai is one of the best in the world, Zero was the better man but Ranai can definitely take it in the future. I love where the metagame is going.

What an amazing set, Ranai's level of adaptation is GODLIKE.
I don't care what anyone says, Ranai is the greatest. It literally took him ONE game to download Zero. And the fact the he's using villager... Amazing, I honestly think if Zero was anyone else he would've lost. Props to Zero though, hopefully we see a rematch very soon. Two of the best.

Guys as much as I wanted Rania to win you can't be mad about shiek or Zero, sure she is the best character obviously but that does not mean shes broken or unbeatable, things change like how she was ounce considered the best character in melee and we all know thats not true anymore.

Amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed this set from start to finish. Both players adapted to each other's performance magnificently! I had to sit up because of the hype near the end. This neck and neck gameplay is exactly what I want to see from top players!
This is still one of the most defining sets in Smash 4 history. Ranai's first showing in the U.S. was phenomenal. So glad we got this as our winners finals.

Can people cut ZeRo slack? It's not like sheik getting nerfed is going to make YOU any better at this game. Sheik may be a very good character, but is very hard to use, so must ne used in skillful hands, such as Meta knight in brawl and Fox in melee. What ZeRo is doing, wimnu all but 1 nationals in America is unheard of. No matter whether you like him or not, it cannot be denied that is truly the best smash 4 player alive, and a remarkable player.

As soon as someone said something about Sky's commentary, I can't not notice how cringey he is -- it sucks because I love the guy and his videos -- but man is he annoying here. He sometimes talks about something for way too long or just straight up talks irreverent topics. :l
He is not a Smash Bros. commentator, he isn't that well versed in knowledge of any match-ups, characters, simple frame data or kill-percentages; he is a comedian with a League of Legends background. No idea why is was a commentator for G3.
Again, nothing against Sky at all --- It's just that, he is not a Smash Bros. caster...
Sky has been involved in smash since the beginning of the games competitive scene during melee. League is not his roots at all so don't spread misinformation just because you don't like him as a commentator

I've never heard Sky commentate at a professional level, as my problem is that he is not fit for a Smash Bros. commentator --- again, he is a comedian, not a caster --- doesn't matter what you think, his performance was/is really bad, compared to the Melee & 64 casters; he goes off topic a lot and has no real knowledge of the game other than terms everyone uses.

Zero's amazing granted but god needle camping is way too strong for the type of character she is. With only one move she can keep up with Villager's zoning game (falco can't even laser in neutral lol) It was fun watching ranai be the aggressive with a zoning character lol and that tree read in the last game should have been a stock...
+DarkFox2071 - ZeRo only needle camping because Ranai is camping with his 5+ projectile. He won't let ZeRo approaches, which just forces to use his only range tool to poke him out; even if it is at little chunks of percent at a time.
+Zalozis I know that's how the MU should be played but it's not right that sheik can keep up with villager's zoning game with one move. Especially because she's not a zoning character. She has a better projectile game than most projectile based characters...

DarkFox2071 But those other characters you mentioned have better approach options than Sheik (Quick-Attack Cancel, Flip-Kick) and even a rushdown heavy character like Fox has anti-zoning options.
The point is it's not Sheik, nor her option. Ranai destroyed every Sheik that was thrown at him this tourney. They tried zoning with needles, and then rushdown Ranai when the needles didn't work. He knows how to counter all her strengths. ZeRo has the same options as any other Sheik player, but he was far smarter at using her options.
+Zalozis Quick attack, flip kick are not projectiles and Fox has great approach options but Sheik's are far better and safer she doesn't need needles to be this strong...

I'm so tired of people. "Shiek is so easy to play" "shiek is like MK brawl" no. Shiek is in the top 5 most technical characters in game. Much like Rosa. People give them shit for being top tier. Enough of it. Melee has proven that even though a character is easily better than everyone, every character has a way to win. Everyone is bored of seeing shiek dominate? That's what happens when zero is the best in the game for now. In the future, it'll end up like melee, where almost every character is used. February comes by, and I promise a TON of bayonettas in singles, and Corrins in doubles will happen. Nobody will complain because they won't be top tier. Zero has already stated he will be playing Bayonetta. So when she tops people will start after that. Saying "she is better than shiek, blah blah blah" it just comes down to who puts the most lab time in with . Enough of the shiek hate. Learn to beat the character .
Zero is Zeus with Sheik and Ranai might as well be Hercules with that amazing fckng Villager. WHAT A SET.
I don't think people understand or appreciate enough just HOW AMAZING IT IS that zero is still consistently winning nearly every single tournament he enters. Yes, Ranai is completely bonkers, yes something something about winning our hearts, but make no mistake, zero is indisputably the best player in the world currently. People think it's Sheik? Zero's Diddy eats any other Sheik for breakfast.
How can people call this hype? This was one of the lamest sets ever played by ZeRo and shows how Sheik is a bad designed character. Ranai only got kills with EXTREMELY HARD reads and outplaying everything ZeRo did and the games he won were still very hard. That vanish at the 4th match when Ranai uses the three is simply infuriating, ZeRo made a bad move, but Up B is so broken he didn't die.
Sheik only needs needles and the stupid down throw 50/50 to win this MU. ZeRo is obviously a good player, but he won this match at the selection screen. Ranai did the impossible by winning 2 games.
If Sheik's not nerfed in the next patch this game will suffer Brawl's destiny. Only Sheiks, and some ZSS, will appear at the top every major. Ally, Shaky and Ito are already actually thinking about switching to Sheik because there's no way their characters can beat it - even though they already use high tier characters.
Finally someone who gets it. There's no way a rushdown character should win the zoning game against a character designed to be play with zoning... The brawl future bit I don't think so. She's by no means brawl mk or ics so we good

+Dimentioluc Yea I know what you meant but I don't think is that drastic Sheik doesn't negate more than half the cast with one move like MK did in brawl and she doesn't over centralize the meta like him. I remember there were usually 6 mk's in a top 8 national and a ton in top 16. With sheik in smash 4 that's not the case she's not as dominant and only one player is really dominant with her. But I get what you meant

No offense to Renai, but I just hate villager. SUCH a wall of projectiles. If Zero has this much trouble getting around it with Shiek that says something about villager. Props to both players. Both are excellent, but I'm sticking with my boy Zero lol

ranai was the one that had to "get around" needles and then deal with up-close sheik who is so much faster.

I think you could say the same thing about Renai too though. Zero was WAY more campy with needles this match than I've ever seen him before with any other match. But Renai was also way more loyd rocket spammy here any other match I've seen before. You have to remember that Zero doesn't want to camp. It's literally a last resort. We all know Zero will go on the offensive if given the chance. He simply couldn't do that against Renai. And you can't just go offensive against villager. So what would you have Zero do instead??
that's because the rocket protects from needles. And if zero isn't going to approach, it's obviously something ranai should set up. I'm just saying that it felt like ranai had to get around zero, not as often the other way around.
captain falcon That could be the case, but from what I've seen from Renai's matches (my personal observation). Renai "always" has the rocket out. All the time, it doesn't matter who he's fighting. His excellent rocket, slingshot game is basically how he got top 3. Zero, and Dabuz were the only ones that were able to find a way around it, and that way involves counter spamming. Zero doesn't normally play this way, I don't think he would unless he had to-

I think you mean of course it's zero. Just because sheik is on the screen doesn't mean you can't win. Zero just uses sheik really good. And I think ranai beat other well known sheiks.

Consistently I've read that in Japan they think Ryu and Rosalina are the best. At least, that's what I've got from Tsuchi, Ranai, Gendo Glasses, etc. Anyways, Japan's tier list is based upon Tournement results only, without taking into account potential, because if a character isn't winning their potential is irrelevant in Japanese Smash play. That's why Sheik is ranked lower, because honestly not many Sheiks actually win tournements in Japan. The highest winning Tournement characters over there are Ryu, Rosa, Diddy, and Villager(of which Ranai is responsible).

+fooked Melee fox has a way better design than shiek though. He's hard to play and can be punished super hard for making mistakes. Shiek on the other hand does not really have clear weaknesses. She is kind of light but it doesn't matter as much when you have one of the best recoveries in the game with bouncing fish and vanish. She's also one of the hardest characters to kill because her safety and framedata. Honestly, how easy do you think it is to get a hard read on a top shiek player?
+PhoenixBlaster fox has a better design than sheik... Stop, fox has a gimmick which is the shine, endless combos, and the most kill set ups in and smash game history, shiek is the only top tier in any smash game where her kill set ups aren't guaranteed, if u play melee competitive and put in probably a few months u can master fox... Armada picked up fox and mastered him in 6 months... He's not that hard clearly if someone who played peach mastered fox... Literally fox can kill u at 0, what's so hard to run off the stage and down b lmfao... I can't believe u just said that

Fox is literally the opposite, shine spikes, aerials into grabs, guaranteed kill set u, and drill in shine into grabs soft aerials into up smash.... Boy stop

seeing this set 2 years later and reading the comments i am reminded of how hated zero use to be. how things have changed lol
zero said once he wanted to pick Villager but he has a really bad matchup against Sheik, I enjoyed so much the fact that Ranai won game 3 and 4. Both players are amazing, but the fact that one of them is playing the best character in the game made the difference. and brought a lot of haters too.

Ranai is the only Villager I know that plays the character the right way. It's funny how just about everyone hatting seeing Villager before, but loved seeing Ranai's Villager. I know why, but I still find it funny.
As a sheik main, I am proud to announce that my friends DK has beaten my sheik many times. I'm not saying I'm proud that I lose, but i can vouch for my favorite lady in smash and say that she is not broken BY ANY MEANS. It has taken me sooooo long to "git gud" with her and I've spent a considerable amount of time scouring smashboards and locked in training mode trying to master her tech. She is a very hard, yet very rewarding character to play. I have the most fun using her, and she can do amazing things. Lastly, who in the hell cares about MU - spread? That is all on paper. It doesn't matter who plays who, the stage, etc. At the end of the day, it is possible for sheik to lose against any character on the roster because of the HUMAN behind the controller. Saying that sheik is broken diminuates zeros triumphs in his match against the sheik-slayer, ranai. It also diminuates the great effort placed forth by ranai facing the number one smash4 player. Characters have next to nothing to do with the outcome of a match. At the end of the day, the players decide the outcome through strategy, execution, reads, etc. Yes, she is a great character, but along with her strengths, she has her areas of neutrality and even weakness. Have you ever played a good ZSS with Sheik? ZSS, in my opinion, is one of the most dangerous and intimidating characters in this game, and I've felt this way since before nairo took out zero. Sure, you might be tired of seeing her bread and butter combos, her needle camping, etc., but instead of crying out for nerfs, why don't you pack your bags and go compete? Zero is a human which means he's capable of making mistakes/losing (as we all have seen) Just because he does so well in tournaments, and you see his sheik so often, doesn't mean that he needs to stop playing her, or that she is broken, it means he kicks ass. If you want to see other characters in the top 8 videos on youtube, go become America's sheik slayer and make sure she doesn't make it out of pools. Didn't most of the cast get a ton of buffs in this last patch? Well then, put up, or shut up.

i dont actually think people realize how similar villager and sheik are and the both ZeRo and Ranai have the exact same play style, just in the long run needles are better than the Lloyd rockets so ranai had to approach more rather than ZeRo. FUCKING AMAZING SET. ZeRo is the best
