Sgt. Snorkel and Cookie fighting over Beetle Bailey at the end of the Labor Shortage episode was funny. Cookie the cook had landed a good uppercut on Sgt. Snorkel
Sounds like good old Cooky deserves to open up a restaurant for semi truck drivers in the Texas town of Arlen from the animated series “KING OF THE HILL”?
Always liked this one--The characters are so precisely on model (circa 1960) that I have to wonder if Mort or his assistants helped provide layouts. Also find it amusing that Howard Morris and Allan Melvin's voices were rather obviously dubbed-in post-production.
Only snorkel will survive his own recipe with that cast iron stomach of his , I met Mr walker some years ago, at a philly convention, nice fellow, rest in peace.
True that now Mort Walker belongs to the ages. However, maybe it’s just about time for a special merger type of crossover. For starters, I think that maybe good old Sergeant Orville Snorkel needs a wife, and who better for him to have for a spouse than the lovely buxom brunette named Cathy Andrews? Sure it’ll make good old Sarge a cousin-in-law to Archie Andrews of Riverdale (who’s the BFF of Jughead Jones), but on the other hand, Cathy (the creation of Cathy Guisewite) is loaded with enough spunk as well as a personality that’ll easily be matched up with Sarge’s. The ceremony of their wedding takes place at the Camp Swampy chapel with the reception in the mess hall. After having been married for a year and a half, Sarge finally gets an honorable discharge alongside of Beetle. By now Beetle is also happily married to Miss Baxley, and both couples eventually wind up moving to the Texas town of Arlen where each couple gets a house on Rainey Street with Sarge, Otto, and Cathy moving into 522 Rainey Street while Beetle and his wife move into 518 Rainey Street, and in between their houses at 520 Rainey Street lives Texas propane salesman Hank Hill. So, basically in other words, they become next door neighbors to Hank Hill from “KING OF THE HILL” . Now, if only we had a way to persuade both Cathy Guisewite as well as the estate of Mort Walker, let alone Mike Judge, then maybe Arlen, Texas, would have the makings for the loudest load of laughs to flash across movie theatre and in-home tv screens alike.
Present Day in Arlen, Texas, on a typical Saturday afternoon. With a few good cases of Alamo Beer around, certain gentlemen gather together in the alleyway between Milton and Rainey Streets. Hank Hill: “Yep!” Bill Dauterive: “Yep!” Joe Jack McKay: “Yep, Honey!” Sheriff J.D. Boomhauer: “Um-Hum!” Orville Snorkel: “Yep!” Doug Funnie: “Yep!” Tommy Pickles: “Yep!” Bobby Hill: “Yep!” Herb Winslow: “Yep!” Dagwood Bumstead: “Yep!” Beetle Bailey: “Yep!” Charlie Brown: “Yep!”

Good possibility.
@@LindaCooper-i3fIt’s not a possibility it’s actually true

How about a live action sitcom of Beetle Bailey, with Carroll O Connor as Sarge? He'd call Beetle a Meathead!
