I full enjoyed researching the crown of thorns sea star and ways that different organizations are managing overpopulation. Have you participated in a similar type of reef restoration? 🌊Join the community: www.patreon.com/azulunlimited 🤿 Dive with me: azulunlimited.com/upcoming-diving-expeditions/
No I haven't as I live too far away. I'm in Cronulla, Sydney. and the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) is 2500kms away in North Queensland. The CRC based in Townsville is the worlds 2nd best Uni where they research and teach all Marine biology. Although I did my honours thesis on reefs in the GBR region I don't remember seeing any on my many dives there. Clearly some areas of reef are not affected. The CRC would be the people to contact (not sure of their website but it would be easy to look up) for all things related to managing CoT star fish. I vaguely remember them putting out an article that was saying that they don't believe getting rid of ALL CoT to be the best control as it is a natural part of the ecosystem too. Just how many need to survive per hectare for healthy reefs was not stated. Perhaps you could apply for a Govt. grant from California and stay there some time and do the research on actual numbers and possible eradication efforts. That might give you some diving expenditure for 12 months or more. Personally, I think a great bloody dive knife right through the heart of the things would be satisfying! LOL. It's great that you're aware of the issues. I was surprised that you weren't wearing your dry suit on the boat - a great way to stay/be dry at the end of a dive. Thank you Sarah for making these videos. It is giving me the impetus too consider making my own channel here, focused on diving here in Australia. Stay tuned....
Thanks for this! I feel like some Reef Check surveys would be really helpful to understand more because as you say, they're a part of the ecosystem, so we don't want to go overboard on management. And yes! Go for the RUclips channel (if you like editing, bc good lord, it takes a lot of editing 😆)@@gbsailing9436
Was considering a return to Cabo Pulmo in May once the ski season ends, but will redirect to La Paz! Gotta love wreck dive and coral reefs! ❤🤿 👍on the vlog… good stuff! VIVA MEXICO! VIVA BAJA!
Smart using diving lead for working out I just had to buy so much lead I didn’t expect my rebreather to be so buoyant but combined with my dry suit I need 30lbs of lead
Also, what did you put on your popcorn??? It looks like hot sauce. Way back I was in the Canadian army and we worked with American soldiers all the time. You guys put hot sauce on everything....weirdos lol
Stellar content I wish u wasn’t so awkward in front of a camera haha I wanna try the RUclips thing not for the views but for the memories and just fun of learning to edit

Whale sharks, moray eels and octopi. I’m intrigued now.
It's a bounty of riches!
Thanks, Sara! I had no idea about the alternator trick. I am an independent person like yourself and this tip helps me out!
I'm so glad! I love sharing life hacks!

Both places are wonderful. You really can't go wrong with either one.
Really beautiful video! ☮️🕉️
Many thanks!

When you have limited space, items that multi-task is a must.
Exactly the type of content we need right now. Happy New Year Sarah.
Aww glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for being here🙏
@@AzulUnlimited I wish I was!
Another great vid! Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Did you have captain Tony? He never missed triangulating a dive site the 3 months I was there.
Yes! He was great💙
1:31 please do not run engine without batteries! Rip electronic components
In a pinch, it got me to autozone. Luckily there aren’t too many electronic components in my old girl🤷♀️
Awesome footage!! Looks like a cool place!!
It is!
No idea there was so much coral in Cortez!
No NEX regulator?
I left my sidemount gear in Cabo San Lucas. Will be diving with Nex gear again this week!
Awesome as always...but I've gotta ask, did you know that that cyclist or are you randomly harassing the locals?
Omg can you imagine??? I definitely know him😆
Cool roller skates! Are you a roller disco or a roller derby kinda girl? or maybe just a recreational skater?
Just recreational. It’s so much fun💃
Also, what did you put on your popcorn??? It looks like hot sauce. Way back I was in the Canadian army and we worked with American soldiers all the time. You guys put hot sauce on everything....weirdos lol
Hey, hot sauce is the spice of life!!! haha
When the mouth opens wide and there’s more teeth inside that’s a moray!!!! Come on everybody you know the words!!!
