    Very nice - we lived there for a year, and ended up buying a small condo there so we could return and return and return, which we do at every opportunity. A interesting and little-known way to get to La Paz from the U.S. is to get an airline ticket from TIJ to LAP (using Volaris or another MX airline) and then to either drive (if you are close) or fly into San Diego and head over to the CBX (relatively new), which stands for Cross Border Express. You can walk over the US border this way if you have a ticket outbound to anywhere from TIJ, and there is very little foot traffic, and almost non-existent lines. This walkway deposits you directly into the TIJ airport. From TIJ you can go all kinds of places, LAP being just one of them. (For instance, you can visit a certain Caribbean island that is usually off-limits to Americans directly using this method ...). Thanks for all of your videos - they are very well done...

    We bought home there about 3 years ago and spent 18+ months there. It was during COVID, so things were subdued. The City is idyllic for us, as we are not into tourist traps like Cabo - I am fond of saying you have a 50/50 chance of someone throwing up on your shoes if you go to bars in Cabo. La Paz is a true Mexican town and the people are so friendly, the Sea of Cortes is nothing short of fabulous and the beaches are stunning. We are waiting to get back down there permanently!!

      The streets are filled with murals and the city is very clean, most gringos hang around the Malecon (boardwalk) and about 5-7 streets from the bay. It does have some areas that look a little rough further away from the Malecon, however I have never felt unsafe there. BTW, ignore A-holes like 1122redbird from the douche squad.

    I really loved La Paz, went for my birthday in July of 2019. Beautiful beaches. My goal is to move to Mexico in spring 2023. As much as I would want to choose La Paz, I can't deal with the heat. There were days that the heat was too much, that we had to wait until night to go out, it was still pretty hot, but cooler on the beaches.
    Other than the heat, I could really see myself living in La Paz. The people were so nice, and I found an amazing vegan restaurant, I believe it's called Cappecino, I think it has closed down because of covid. 😥
    So as for living in Mexico, I am looking at Oaxaca, Escondido Baja and Mexico City for now.
    Thanks for your videos!

      The beaches were busy I think because of an event in her video. From my experience two of the really beautiful beaches I went to during the month of July were kind of crowded, however, the beaches are long. So you can walk down and find a really quiet spot which is what we did every time. We took our beach tent and no one seems to walk where you are to disturb you.

      Thanks, glad you are enjoying them! There’s an airport in La Paz that you could look into flying into. I personally much prefer it to Los Cabos airport - quieter, no one trying to sell you a time share 😂 but I know los Cabos is better for international flights. You can rent a car to drive up to La Paz yourself (I recommend cactus rent a car). You could organize for a car service to pick you up and take you to La Paz (I believe Mex rent a car do this? But don’t know for certain). I do think having a car in this region is great though, so much to see and do and it will allow you to drive to the beaches in La Paz like Balandra 👍 hope that helps!

    • @laura-bronner
      @laura-bronner  2 года назад +2

      As for US dollars, not as many accept them in La Paz. If they do, they will give you a terrible exchange rate. I usually take cash out of an ATM once in Mexico if I need to pay for anything in cash. Otherwise I use my chase sapphire credit card - no charge for international currencies and more travel points!

      they may do that and be sure to stand your ground with them. Most tourists get scared and fork over money on the spot, which is what the police pressure you to do -- it's called Mordita (bribe). We have gotten pulled over and I have found a way to end the conversation is bargain them down and then ask for them to actually issue the ticket (as a receipt), which 99% of the time results in them saying "oh, we will be nice to you and let you off with a warning". They will also try to hold your license hostage, I always make a copy of license and tell them my wallet was stolen.
