Pink Floyd expert here. Don't let people put you down for not doing the whole album. Most of us understand you have to play by RUclips's rules. That said I would split it up with one song at a time but the last three do as one listen. So end with my favorite Any colour you like and brain damage/eclipse. After this you will want to move into Wish you were here then Animals then The Wall. That four album arc is unbelievable but it also shows the band changing and unfortunately falling apart.
I am glad someone understands where I am coming from. Thank you for the advice too by the way (:
I understand all that. Just do them in order.
@@Gothhippie667 that is the plan (:
Personally, I think 'Time' and 'Great Gig' are effectively one track, too. It's always a disappointment, to me, when reactors cut at the end of Time, just as the opening sound of Great Gig appears.
... and then I hear she's already done Time! Yet another few minutes of life I'll never get back! 🤷🏼♂️😔
Sounds like something a poser want a be would say.
You don't need to react to the whole album, and people shouldn't expect that. But once you finish things up, you owe it to yourself to carve out some time on a hammock between two trees and go from start to finish. It is a unique, masterful ride, especially uninterrupted, and at least for me, it takes me to places and memories like no other album.
And listening to the album as a whole allows you to appreciate the echoes and call-backs it contains. For example, the melody of “Breathe” is the same melody as the final “Home, home again…” section of “Time”.
It doesn't cut short if you're listening to the album it very smoothly & quickly transitions into the next song which is "on the Run"!
This 'Greatest Album Ever' really needs to be listen to all at once, it's a complete 'trip'
Yes, yes it is.
Wizard of Oz 3rd Roar of the Lion
My favorite song on this album is "Us and Them". Great saxophone I love it!
many a great night back in the 70's with the significant other listening to us and them
This song has the longest silent intro of any classic rock song. Time is my favorite.
Happy 4/20 Lilly Jane!! Great reaction. This album is a true masterpiece.
These songs don't 'end' they transition into each other seamlessly. which is why it was suggested you listen to the album, or at least do it side one and side two.
I loved watching your reaction, I flashed back to my first time listening to the album when it first came out in 1973.
Thanks for reacting. I am old now and recall my teen years listening to Great Gig in the sky and my late Mother being so disturbed. Time is a highlight but each track is gold. It is the process of listening to a whole album entirely that transports you in time and space. Enjoy.
The first part of the song is entitled "Speak to Me" and after you hear Clare Torrey screaming, the song segues into "Breathe" and then finally into "On the Run"
every time , when you listen to Pink Floyd i see the moment of sadness in your eyes ,then i see how you shut it deep inside ! wish you more happiness
Love your reaction. Thanks 👍
Love Pink Floyd!
LJ...for 50 years people have been doing EXACTLY what you've done firing one up and lettin' it rip....this is the quintessential HEADPHONES album, you'll pick up a lot more nuances. This is one of those timeless albums....and also happens to be one of the handful of releases that I personally like to run through new stereo components to really test them out....rock on Chica...
Beautiful, honest reaction. I've listened to Floyd millions of times, but watching your reactions is like listening for the first time. keep up the good work, I can't wait to see more.
The look of uncertainty on your face when you first started the track, which then turned to a beaming smile as Breathe came in was a joy to behold
Happy 4:20!!!
You too!!! (:
That first minute of the album is basically an entire lifetime from birth to death. Heartbeat at the front is supposed to resemble from within the womb and follow you through life... screams at the end are the end of life.
My take has always been that the heartbeat is pre-birth, the screams are birth, "Breathe" is kind of an introduction/synopsis of what to expect from life, then "On The Run" and "Time" depict adulthood and the frantic yet meaningless march toward death, with "The Great Gig In The Sky" wrapping up the story.
@@Yaktahbayyeah that’s correct. When the album was created it was on vinyl and songs 1-5 were the A-side. Then money song six kicks off the b-side of the album. A totally different message. When I first heard it I never considered the fact that it was recorded on vinyl. So I couldn’t understand why you would have a song about death and dying and then immediately shift into money
The bit I love about Breathe is the fact that in the quick chord sequence before the singing starts there is a chord that Rick Wright slipped in that he remembered working out after listening to A Kind of Blue by Miles Davies purely because he didn't want to be boring and use a 'standard' chord sequence.
Not sure I can pick a favourite DSOTM track, it will vary according to mood, but Time's up there for its message and solo, the way Money goes from 7 to 4 for the solo and back to 7 again, Gig is astonishing, and the last 3 tracks are amazing.
Some of my favourite songs are "Speak to me", "Breathe", "On the Run", "Time", "The Great Gig in the Sky", "Money", "Us and them", "Any Colour you like", "Brain Damage" and "Eclipse". This album is just not flawless and as a whole it is just perfect.
HAHA excellent taste, Lubos
She needs to react to money
@@raphael_2d878 she needs to react to the whole kit-and-kaboodle :)
Brilliant jest, naming every song on the album! Too bad you screwed up the double negative...
_"not flawless"_ means that it is, indeed, flawed. And I'm sure you didn't mean to say that. ;-]
@@robertcartier5088 Sorry - of course it's a mistake. Unfortunately, I don't speak English well and I use a translator to help me. And unfortunately, he sometimes makes a mistake.
Just the perfect one to do on 420. Like, light em up and mellow out dudes. The colors man, the colors. ✌️
I felt like I was melting away during this reaction. I was baked af
The Great Gig In The Sky
A beautiful composition without lyrics about death.
It starts with realization then the battle to fight it off and ending with coming to terms with it and succumbing.....
🔥🔥🔥🔥
This album , is one of those albums that you have to listen the whole way through without stopping . Well , basically , that's how all their albums are .
Hard to pick a favorite. The whole album is Great, one songs adds to the other. Been listening to them way back in 1973, and have saw them twice. What a TRIP. (Oh by the way, I'm 74 and have been listening to Pink Floyd, and any Hard Rock or Metal group and still party. Been to over 100 concerts, and just about seen them all.)
From the all the great songs that contains this amazing album, my favorite is probably Us and Them, which I find absolutely beautiful and a timeless masterpiece. Thanks for the reaction video 😘
I think, "time", "the great gig in the sky", "us and them" and "any coulour you like" are my favorite Songs on Dark Side of the Moon. Greetings from Germany
The 'Dark Side Of The Moon' was released on March 1, 1973. It's been over 50 years. Many things can be said about this album and many definitions can be made. But I think the common thing is that this album made people "think" in those years. Thinking about some of the things they thought for the first time (because in those years the music was more direct.) I got this album a few years after it was released, and I was just a kid at the time. And my perspective on life has changed. And at the end of the day, I don't regret it. This album contains artistic masterpieces such as 'Time' and 'Us and Them'. But you can reach the bridge that connects them all with 'Brain Damage' and 'Eclipse' at the end of the album. When you come to the end, please listen to them together and make sure you are not the same as when you started 🙃
pink floyd is one of those bands where you dont just listen, you experience it
My favorite off this album is Brain Damage and I love how it flows right into Eclipse for what in my opinion is a very satisfying ending to the album. I suggest listening to them both together as combined it's only about 5 min of music. Cheers!
So glad you did this today. Happy 4/20! From Houston, Texas. 👋🏻
My personal favorite on this album is Us And Them, look forward to your reaction to that one.
I always feel like i am floating in space during this song.
Happy 420 from Dan Willett at Cannacopia - Glass Shop & Cannabis Dispensary in New York. Smoking on some very rare "Zaboures Azul" strain today.
Happy 420 Dan! that strain sounds awesome! I am vibing with a strain called "Gasphalt" myself. (:
Happy 420. The whole album is a masterpiece. To pick a favorite.......Us and Them.
I haven't looked through all your other videos yet, but, definitely Great Gig in the Sky. Absolutely, hands down.
the songs are great, masterpieces even, but the album needs to be heard from start to finish to really feel it's power and grace. heard this album when i was 17, drunk, at a friends house, late night, they're all high, weed smoke in the air, lights off, incense burning: i was never the same again. i'm 48 now and it's never lost any of it's abilty to move me...
I'm 70, and my first 8-track of DSotM, came in a set of Columbia House offerings for free + one year subscription. BTW, an 8-track of this is not the way to experience this masterpiece of a concept album.
“Long you live and high you fly, but only if you ride the tide” I’ve listened to this song hundreds of times over the years and now at 36 that line really jumped out at me. I heard it plenty of times but just now understand it.
This is my all time favorite album, EVER! From start to finish, this is what I grew up on, both parents were big into classic rock. It's the best concept album of all time!
When you get to The Great Gig in the Sky you may consider a live version. I think you'll enjoy it more. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing your reaction.
Absolutely not!!
Good luck and enjoy. You're on your way. You're where you're meant to be.
I agree with doing a deep dive on this album, back in the day it was the standard to try out a new, high end stereo system with it. Amazing album, it still sells to this very day and new fans of Floyd happen all the time. Rock On! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Each track on this album runs into each other. No pause; they just seamlessly blend, one into the other.
This song is basically about Birth, from your mothers scream during childbirth, to your first breath, and the need to be loved, and on into life.
After you get done reacting to this album, you Really need find the time to Shut off the lights and listen to it from Beginning to End!! IT'S Life Changing....
The Dark Side of the Moon is my favourite album of all time. Blew me away when I first heard it as a kid in the early 80's though some of the lyrics are quite painful to listen to now I'm older on some of the tracks especially 'Time' on Side 1. As others have said, when you get a moment listen to the album all the way through and it will make more sense.
Welcome to one of the greatest and probably most discussed / analysed albums of all time
Welcome to Pink Floyd!
Pink Floyd Animals is a great album that needs attention and of course their first album Piper at the gates of dawn. Its an album like no other !
The Floyd songs don't "begin" or "end", long intro's, blending seamlessly from one to another, always been the Floyd's hallmark !! 👏👏
you seem like a homie and I definitely think youll do very well on youtube if you keep at it. love the song and seeing you hear it for the first time, thank you!
I love the entire album, and really appreciate your new reaction to it. My favorites that go together are the ending: Brain Damage and Eclipse.
You are obviously one of us! Love your posters and your PF reactions. Please do more!
welcome to the rabbit Hole
It seems that I am behind in these reactions, but I will catch myself in the next ones.
Thank you for celebrating with us the 50th anniversary of this masterpiece.
Songs from early Pink Floyd to check out:
Echoes
Cymbaline
Astronomy Domine
The Embryo
A Saucerful of Secrets
Main Theme from More
Interstellar Overdrive
Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast
One of These Days
An FYI, the heartbeat at the beginning of this is what named the "Pulse" tour. 4/20 was a great day to put this out!!
I love your face of joy 😂 new suscriber thanks for sharing us your journey listening to pf
Pretty good amount of views so far. Folks love 'em some Floyd.(understatement)
Saw them June 28 1975, great show, Dark side of the moon is best listened to start to finish non stop, rest is up to you, happy 420
You’re right the sound of time is prevalent through the whole album that’s what ties it together
It’s almost impossible to have a favorite song on this album as it’s more like it feels the whole album is one song.
Us and them prolly my fav song on the album it’s actually romantic how good it is
My alltime Love Floyd))
Many don’t get that the beginning of DSOTM is parts of the sound effects “looped” (before there was such a thing) together to creat the opening TENSION of Speak to me.
for me i love all the early stuff , im 56 , but the final cut hits home with me
That album is 50 years old this year. Released March 1 1973
I'm excited that ur doing the whole album 👍..
And yes u must b stoned for all pink floyed albums lol..
Angel Eyes! You are so astute! My new favorite reaction Angel 😇
They've been making me feel better since the 70's.
Nice! Keep 'em coming....
Dont forget the live versions as well! Pulse live is life hanging!
Such a masterpiece. What a way to open an album. Crank this up and you feel like you're floating. The guitars in this album are so cool. In this song how the slide guitar plays with the twangy guitar melody underneath it. In "Any Colour You Like" the guitar tracking is wild. With headphones on you can hear two guitars playing with each other moving from ear to ear. The production of this album is sooooooo good. I've got to say, Roger's bass playing in "Any Colour You Like" is some of the best I've heard. Focus on that bass groove on that track.
Us and Them is my favorite off the Dark Side. Interesting fact for you sweetie about The Dark Side of the Moon. The origianl title for the album was Eclipse A Piece for assorted Lunatics. Enjoy!!!! Love you bunches sweetie!!!!
This is the best selling album in the history of the world. It stayed in the top 500 for over 10 years.
Please be mindful that this album is 50 years old in 2023.
Yep, Golden Anniversary!!!
Pink Floyd doesn't rush things....yes, that is an alien thought in our instant gratification culture. Dig that hole .....ie. keeping working 9 to 5 and slaving away.
A masterpiece, hands down!!!
the reason Floyd fans say listen to the whole album is the fact that all the songs seamlessly into the next continuing the story.
I just recently started watching your videos. So far you have tackled, in my opinion, the two greatest bands that we have been blessed with: Metallica and Pink Floyd. Thank you and keep up the good work.
I'm stoned out of my mind and I can tell she has headphones on. You people are tripping!
I'm sure everyone has said this before.... but yeah... darkside needs to be listened to in its entirety
Sharing Dark Side of the Moon with Lily Jane...mmmm.
Smoke a fat J.
I do really like Pink Floyd. When I was younger, I really liked them, because the album is like a book with chapters. It feels continuous. I think it's part of the 70's. Very Old School.
Loved the smile when they finally hit the groove.
Noticed one of your followers included the phrase "bushcraft".
That could mean many things. Survival in the Bush?
You're not cliche and dumb. There is something about Pink Floyd.
Lily Jane, YEAH!
Every one has a different and very personal opinion on the band and this album.
Most people love both, a few only this album..... and I even met a woman who hated everything Pink Floyd with a scary vengeance. lol
The album deals with life from start to finnish , but each side tackles the theme from different or maybe even opposing angles.
Side one deals with a normal average life from inside the womb to that final Great Gig in heaven.
Speak to Me is pre birth..... inside the womb and hearing your mother’s heart beat, then random speech and noises.
This ends with the crescendo and screaming..... child birth.
Breathe starts immediately after birth...... breathe in the air or the song is already over.
On the Run........from the time we become conscious of life, other people have us constantly on the run......from parental control to school to work..... always under pressure to perform. For a rock star, that pressure can be symbolised by constant flying and the worlds airports.
TIME....... starts with adolescence and ends with the Great Gig.
The Great Gig in The Sky..... the end of TIME. I treat these 2 songs as the one song in 2 parts.
The Great Gig ends side 1 with the 5 stages of death, when NO words describe it best.
The “scream” was birth, first breath (breathe in the air) figuratively and literally. IMO, literally.
Yes, you have to listen to the whole album. I still remember hearing this for the first time. It's not something that takes hold right off. But it is a masterpiece. Thank you for daring to listen. You will not find a better use of 40+ min of your time.
My favorite song to blaze to
Pink Floyd's albums are concept albums. All of the songs are connected in their message. You should listen to the whole album, all of the songs in order.
The whole album is worth listening to in one go, even if it's on your own time instead of for a video
You are a true Floydian. You get it.
This album is really 2 songs (1 per side) with different movements.
Listen to Animals Pigs, Three different ones. I was fortunate to see them 8 times, 4 times on the Delicate sounds of Thunder and 4 on the Division Bell tour.
My band plays Time-breathe
My favorite part of this song is " i've been mad for fuckin years " hahahahaha
Speak To Me is about coming out of a near death state. If you’ve been there, you get it right away!
BTW: Gilmore and Waters didn’t like closed hi-hats.
Shine on your crazy diamond
0:45 When he asks you "Are you alright?", you say "Yes" and he believes you.
2:01 When he comes back and sits down next to you.
It's always a pleasure to hang out with you and my two favorite bands, Pink Floyd and Nightwish. As with Nightwish, there is no favorite Pink Floyd song for me. I love them all equally.
Make sure you listen to ”Time” and ”The Great Gig in the Sky”. They belong together.
We always turned the sound way up at the begining of this song, then when it starts, turn it back down.
Oh by the way. Huge Pink Floyd fan, from my teen years, discovering cannabis and other substances. Love and loss, death, and new life. Another band, from around the same time, is Rush, if you want to check them out, start with 2112.
From an album with no songs on it that aren't incredible, "The Great Gig in the Sky" is the highlight for me.
