I wasn't going to share this with you. This time of year feels so cyclical and daunting. But the thing I have learned since becoming a motorcyclist is that riding motorcycles is my own personal way of grounding and enjoying being in the present. I tend to have a lot of candid thoughts about this topics in this video and I am VERY aware that some of these expressions can seem whiny or complaining. Hence why I almost didn't upload this video... Hopefully I am among like minded people and would love to hear your thoughts on the changes you are striving for in your personal or professional life.
    In honor of manifesting my 5 year plan, I will share with you my dreams and goals;
Ideally I would love to be able to bring a physical entity of my passion for motorcycles into my community. (Here in Ohio) A space where people can meet up in person, ride/ hang and just enjoy being in the moment. Something non exclusive. Everyone can come and enjoy the location whether it's on a motorcycle or car. (Or just walk)
Hopefully that's a 5 year plan. Something that will take lots of learning and investment. But I love this community and I love you all. Maybe one day we can spend time together outside of the screens

Have to say I hate when I go for a ride and my mind is still consumed by the day-to-day I can't seem to let some of it go sometimes so annoying furthermore a reason why I need to take longer road trips next season and just let it all go

As of right now, I’m disabled because of my back, but now I have a bad shoulder so I have therapy twice a week. Told my therapist all I wanted out of my shoulder is to be able to get back on my bike , besides therapy twice a week I’m having surgery on that shoulder next week for something totally different. But in 5 years I want to ride the first part of the TransAmericanTrail from Ripley WV to Virginia Beach.

Hi, Jess, from a fellow Buckeye (Dayton area). I enjoy your candor and openness, as well as your Ohio videos, and this one is no exception. I moved to Ohio in 1980, thinking it would be for 2-3 years, but unexpectedly I’m still here and I love it (despite property taxes, levies, etc.) Speaking of “ 0:15 unexpecteds”, I went to the doctor recently and two weeks ago found myself undergoing open heart bypass surgery! Sometimes an unexpected scar is just as beautiful as southern Ohio in the summer. You’re unexpected love, and need of, motorcycling helps us realize there is an answer for each of us if we give ourselves permission to seek it. Please, keep doing YOU and thank you for sharing with us.

I've been watching your content since your begining. Not a patreon. But enjoy you and all your rides & motorcycles you ride. I'm 73 years old, and have been riding since before "it was cool for ladies to ride". My models of motorcycles number 15 over the years. I am now on a 22' TriGlide, which makes me sad sometimes. In my head I'm riding any of my two wheels I've had. With that said, I want to say that I ride with you each time I watch your videos, it makes me feel like I used to. Thanks for making me smile...Thanks Diane

Walking in nature is so calming. Fall is never long enough, and putting the bike away for the winter is always a sad time. I put the Spyder in a storage unit for the winter. Keep the XR150L and the Scram 411 in the garage. If the roads are clear I will take the Honda out, during the winter. We inherited our sons dog, and the dog likes walking in the woods, so we go to various nature preserves in our area. Riding is my therapy after our sons passing a year ago. I really enjoy the variety you present in your videos. Keep up the good work.

Another great and insightful video, Jess! I just laid my father to rest last week and I was with my sisters for the first time since 1998. Some of the things you brought up were on my mind then, but one that you touched on was a re-evaluation of who I am and what I want. At 59 in two weeks, I'm starting to plan my ramp out from corporate America and look at a new stage in my life. I don't know yet what it'll all encompass, but sometimes a reset is a good thing, especially if YOU'RE the one doing the resetting.

I too have felt unsettled this past year. The times I am able to take out my Spyder and feel the freedom have helped a great deal. I also like to ride alone. All though I have never ridden in a group. The thought of that, I find scarry since friends of mine have been injured while riding in a group. At 70, I tend to be more cautious. I commented on your last video because it gave me such a sense of calmness and peace. To be able to transfer that peace through video is a real art. I have watched your work for a couple of years and in my opinion it is your best work.

At 51, I have a number of physical limitations, and I hope I can work around them to have some iron horseback adventures of my own! This was a great video! I think a lot of people are in the same headspace that you’re in right now. I just turned 49 in October, and like you said, now that I am on the horizon of 50 years old, I’ve just been thinking a lot about life lately and what matters and what doesn’t. Being from Southwestern, Pennsylvania, our whether has been pretty similar. We’ve been getting lucky with this much dry warm weather this late in the year. I’ll definitely take that when I can get it! One thing I like what about watching your videos is how passionate you are about keeping those wheels turning. When I go out to ride on an average day, it’s extremely easy to get between two and 300 miles. I drive for UPS, and often pass Farrow Harley Davidson when I go out to Columbus. I’ve often thought about stopping there seeing that it says it’s the oldest Harley dealer in America. That’s a pretty bold claim. One of these days I’ll get out there. I have a 2020 Road King special, I have two V Rod’s, and I have a 2023 nightster special. It’s funny you said about the Clickbait, because I always find myself clicking faster when you’re on the Pan America. lol

I watch your videos because I do relate, I to ride all the time, mostly as an escape, and to the grocery store 😎 but your videos help to keep me humble, I have a 22 heritage 114, and I'm 47 years old so comfort is huge and let's be honest big loud look at me pipes are just not what I need, but always a temptation. I keep my bike stock because it's easy, and it keeps me from going nuts, maybe I'm just weird but I love riding my Harley Davidson even if it's quieter. I rode today and it was 40 degrees here in Iowa, people looked at me like I was crazy, even my own mother was like you're out of your mind. I put down the phone, I loose everything and for a brief time I can hear my head voice. It's like nothing else in my life, your videos are a part of my motorcycle journey and I will quit watching them when you quit making them. Thank you for being you. I hope you know that what you do does matter too more than you may think.🤘

Lol Since I retired in 2020 I have learned that some things are not as important as they used to be. Riding either of my motorcycles makes me feel free (so to speak) because as you know you have to be very aware of your surroundings as you ride. I don't know about you but it takes most of my mind away from my troubles when riding. Stay safe out there.

Those gusts were kinda insane haha. Reminded me of the wind gusts I also encountered on a bike occasionally.
I do agree with the 5 year re-evaluate of life. Also total logic and normal that if seasons change some people feel different, low key depressed or just depressed or simply just feel like not doing anything or venture out and stay inside.
As for RUclips I do see your videos even when I have alerts off. They pop up on my home page.
Oh and when you do venture out doing whatever, go for a walk, go shopping or something is good for the mental too. When in forests or parks it is kinda like earthing. Getting back down to earth so the speak.
Realize and stand still with the small things life and appreciate them (more). As of a year now, from when I got the bike last year, rode a few months then winter came.
Then spring 2024 came and I felt the need to be out more. And that for made a lot of changes for my personal life, not even all fun things, just a complete new start on a new chapter to get more happy and chase my own happiness.

OK. My wife of 33 years told me last March that she was leaving me. This whole summer I have been riding to clear my head. I haven't been on my own bike in 13 years. Last fall I bought an old (2006) high mileage full dress Harley for her and me to ride on. So, it's kind of bitter sweet. I'm riding again, but on a bike I bought for us. Hi, Jess. Old dude here. Seems there's some innate need for my wife and I to take a "final ride" of the season. I can feel a change in my attitude as the season turns cold here in the Rockies, and some subconscious requirement for a ride that represents end of the riding season for us.But there are also the little projects that need to be completed over the winter, such as moving my bars back about 1/4" to stop the bar from touching my Klockwerks windscreen at full left lock... lubing the vent doors on my Road Glide, looking over maps for route options for next year's long rides. Little things that keep the pilot light going, even though the thermostat is turned down for a while. Our 5-year plan is to dig ourselves out of debt and be in a position to possibly move... maybe downsize so there's less time maintaining and more time riding.

Like I've said before I like seeing parts of our country like Ohio that I haven't seen much of. Your cross country tours are fun to kick back and watch and I'm stoked you like Adventure bikes. The Pan American looks like a fun bike. I don't video and probably should but where I live on the central coast of Calif., it's beautiful and has many great canyons to cruise and the pacific coast hwy and I usually cruise solo and it is peaceful. Do what you enjoy content wise and share your joy.

It's really obvious that your ride worked wonders in lifting your spirits; so cool to watch and hear the transformation. Over the past 55 years of riding, I've found that hopping on the bike to clear my mind is one thing I can always count on in this ever-changing world. I don't have your skill of self-reflection (hurts my head when I try to think deeply), but I admire your ability and willingness to get out of your comfort zone to do it. Guess I'm more like Woody in Wild Hogs “I just wanna ride !” Come on, Springtime !

We hope to build a toy hauler/camper from a nice 7x14 cargo trailer so we can extend our riding season plus see more of this beautiful country. (Hocking hills area is our favorite so far)

Hi Jess, I can fully relate to this vlog. after 25 years in a job as a manager i lost my job in July 2024. Luckily i am financially ok, but my motivation just went down hill. Even to the point of going for a ride on the bike. once i am on it i am fine and love the ride, but the thought of putting all the gear on was just too much work. My Health has not been the best and it has played a big part. I hate the winter months with the long dark nights and cold.
Thankfully i am starting to get the motivation back and all though it is a struggle a lot of the time i can at least reflect that i have completed my tasks set out by the end of the day. 2025 will be the rebirth lol

Hopefully we can get a good rest and reset this winter!

Appreciate your honesty, Jess and perspective. Adulting is doing things you don't want to do even if it's doing what you have to do to get clicks to watch.
In TX taxes are bad and insurance added more than $1k. It's mind boggling to advance and earn more to find your struggle to be middle class and not actually moving ahead 😒 We all have to keep doing what we're doing and stay the course. This is a season that will pass and we will return to the sun.
Question and some others might chime in. Keeping my RoadGlide but looking at selling/trading my RoadKing for a PanSpecial. I noticed you have spoke wheels instead of rims. Thoughts? I'm reading all kind of opinions.
Keep doing what you're doing and ride safe.

      @HerTwoWheels  Месяц назад

I 100% support your thought process of trading in the road king for the Pan Am. The Panama has by far been one of the most enjoyable motorcycles I have ever ridden! I absolutely love the spokes! they are not traditional spokes, they are faux spoke. Which means I can still plug my tire and I don’t have to have tubes replaced when I get new tires! They’re also for off-road riding.

I agree, we live in strange times. What with the rotten economy, threat of civil *&&%%& and living one minute to midnight can drag you down fast. Then add to that the approaching the "down season" and we need a way to lift ourselves out. Riding, faith and family does it for me.I will ride unless there is snow on the ground--I have even been known to ride then too.

I fully understand I've been riding motorcycles for about 56 years, all over the place. Once the snow flies, the (3) bikes get filled up, stabil put in and all on trickle chargers. I get SAD, but get outside, learn something new, tidy up and complete all the other tedious tasks. Visit your bikes in the garage, watch some TV and listen to music. Soon its time to oil change and ride again.

If Indian mounds are an interest when get a chance you to check out Serpent Mound in southern Ohio. It is very unique and spiritual for many people. Also check out the House of Phacops Rock Shop in Locust Grove. The guy that owns it knows a lot about the geology and history on the Serpent Mound and the surrounding area. Rocky Fork Lake has cool camping if you want to stay a day or two to explore the area.

(14:53) The leap of faith. I've done it twice. 2004 working for a homebuilder in Florida, decided to go out on my owner, and started a small power washing company, two years later, I passed my residential Building exams, and started home remodeling. I did that for 29 years, Now, as the body doesn't not want to do the physical work, and my mind, is still fully fictional, I'm in the middle of National exams, to become a Residential Building inspector. (this is where you come in) I watch these videos, to relax my mind, after studying for up to 8 hours a day, every day, 7 days week.

No one believes me when I talk about how the frequency of southeastern Ohio is different. It sometimes feels like another universe where pockets of time replay over and over under the overcast. Like an addict, I embrace the journey it leads me down.
I don't think I'm doom scrolling, but I try to avoid social media except for looking at inspiration scenes on Instagram. I generally rabbit hole topics and stay in touch with my children. Every day I swear I'm going to delete Facebook due to the schizophrenic narcissist behavior I witness.
Thank you for this video, I might have to ride to Maysville and nap at the Port while I admire the Ohio side aura.

Hey Jess, The Old Man Here. I have been having a very hard time getting motivated to do anything. I have a plan for a bike. It's cheap. Only 400 pounds. My old legs like this idea. It's a 2004 Suzuki GS 500. It runs. But I'll need to buy all the panels for the front of the bike. But once I do, I believe this will be a pretty nice-looking bike. This machine won't be a rocket ship. However, I'll be able to cruise the freeways if I choose to do so. Little over a 5 gallon tank. So, I should be able to ride close to 250 miles before refilling. A man can cover a lot of ground that way. Would still like to meet you and Jordon one day. Would be nice to sit down and grab a meal talk some shit. You know stuff like that. Here's wishing everybody a happy turkey day. I'll probably play my Xbox or watch some movies. Make some instant mash spuds. Maybe buy some rolls you can heat up. Say my prayers that I'm still alive and feisty. I did receive a bit of bad news. I'll be using a by-pap machine. It's not cool when you try to sleep. And you stop breathing 54 times in an hour. Without challenges, what would we do? Answer, not be in a shity mood all the time! Lol... Ya'll be safe out there. And thanks for letting an old fart blow off some steam now and then.

I was bike less for a few years after an accident that really messed me up. Now I have a 2000 Softail Deuce and I'm thankful every morning that I wake up not dead again that I have the opportunity to throw my leg over it and lose myself. I'm saving up for a second bike that will either be an Evo Sportster or a Softail Heritage. Once I get that bike I will work on them both, alternatively until I have them where I want them and be at rest.
