I bought the 2024 in magnetite gray. Same model in this video. I love it! My 1st subaru
got the same one just in sport and same color. Lot of shit to learn from that screen.
One of the best reviews I’ve seen! I ordered the sport in alpine green and I couldn’t be more excited! Definitely one of the most versatile and reliable car out there!
I beg to differ on the review. Congratulations on the purchase. You will love it. You might want to read Subaru’s press release to understand all the changes they made. You certainly didn’t get that information from this review.
I just ordered the 2024 alpine green Crosstrek and can't wait until it gets here.
I just got a 2024 Crosstrek Sport. The gold cloth interior accents are already pilling with less than a 100 miles on it. There is a Reddit thread about it. I have a ticket open already at dealer and Subaru USA. Would have liked the Alpine Green but I got Ice Silver at $3k off MSRP.
I bought the 2024 Crosstrek Limited in April 2024. Very nice! My first Subaru, was previously a Honda and Toyota family for many years.
I’ve got a 2024 sport in ice silver on the way. Couldn’t be more excited
Same!
Now my dream car!
It’s really a slick looking car!
Hope u enjoy it.
Dream bigger
I just can’t live with those cheesy yellow stripes. No way, hose!
Been driving my '24 Sport for a week and am LOVING it! Review is spot on!
Which color did you buy?

Took delivery of my Sport on July 1st
Wonderful ride !
So many advanced features for a $30k vehicle
Very happy with this purchase
Got mine June 23rd, put 1800 miles on it so far and love it, perfect all around and great mpg, for 30k can’t beat it!
Congrats on your new ride!
Watched the entire video and bought it in Black after watching your review! You explained everything so well, so thanks! My first Subaru and the first brand-new car I have bought!
I just got this car in ice silver color. I’m really enjoying it. It’s my first Subaru.
Congrats!
I have a 2021 Sport. You’ll love it
Just bought an ice silver TODAY! Sooooo excited!
The most detailed review I've seen on this model! I'm picking 1 up in 2 days! You've saved me a ton of time looking thru the manual!!! Thanks!!! (it's the Saphire Blue Pearl, looks great with the gold accents!)
Glad to help - great color choice
You do excellent videos. Simple and informative. Keep it up.
thank you for the review. i bought the exact same crosstrek today. same color, same add ons, same sticker price. picking it up in a few days. cant wait!.
The 182 HP, 2.5 L engine in the Crosstrek Sport is the exact same power unit as the Outback and Forester engines. However the Outback and the Forester have a final drive axle ratio of 4.11:1 instead of the 3.70:1 on the Crosstrek Sport. But they are both 1 second slower in 0-60 MPH than the Crosstrek Sport and are 1 MPG less than the Crosstrek Sport.
We own an Outback XT Onyx and it is great. Stick that motor in the CrossTrek and Subaru won’t be able to build enough.
Same motor
Higher final drive = lower mpg.
Weight = slower performance
This powertrain is slightly updated from the Outback/Forester 2.5 with a tiny increase in maximum torque but a noticeable 700 RPM lower access to it as well as a strengthened transmission, stiffer chassis and EyeSight 4.0.
I keep wondering about owning a 2.5l OB. They sound gutless. Can those OB move themselves out of the it own way on highway use, merging etc?
@@SyrupCanuck when I test drove one I found it well responsive enough, smoother and easier to modulate the power than the XT, which I found to have an almost jerky, on/off quality. Each felt pretty much the same until about 3500 RPM when the turbo of the XT really kicks in. I would have bought the NA 2.5 OB had the much lighter Impreza RS with the updated 2.5 not been released this year which fit my needs perfectly. Only on pure 0-60 runs where the CVT properly stays planted in the power band to provide the best performance, albeit with a bit of droning, does this powertrain fall a little flat. Every day driving it’s smooth with good power.
I’ve already ordered one in Alpine Green. Can’t wait till it comes in!
Sweet color!
@@703Speedwill this be good for a new driver
I just purchased my Sport. Best in class.

I just ordered one and now I'm watching every video I can find about it lol
Why
Same here
The sport looks sweet in that black!
Most thorough review!
I use the storage in the door handle for my sunglasses. My phone goes on a magnetic holder that suction cups to the little triangle window at the front of the door.
I’ll try your phone mount idea. Thanks 😊
I got mine about a month ago and I absolutely love it. I'm impressed with it's x mode capabilities. I've had the chance to try it out in the wild (not on a track) and it worked flawlessly. Even in deep mud/snow on a high incline it has no issue. The only slight annoyance is that the infotainment system sometimes heavily lags and has issues connecting to car play and android auto upon starting up. Oh, also the s mode is very noticeably different from I mode and pretty fun.
Btw I like to call the yellow accent thing on the front a boomerang. The boomerang has grown on me. I think it looks great with black.
Actually I believe that the headrest can be adjusted forward - see that the passenger headrest is tilted forward, while the driver side is vertical. This tells me that they will tilt forward. Good review.
Hmm, I tried and it didn't tilt. But, I could also be wrong.. Thank you for the comment and view!
They can
They tilt.
i just bought a subaru crosstrek wilderness 500 kms ago. i am thoroughly impressed with it and thats coming from a guy who went from a 2017 jeep wrangler to a 2024 crosstrek
k
oh yeah i paid a total of 42000
It looks like lower Toyota Rav4. Nice car. Great rewiew. Greetings
Purchased Crosstrek Limited in TriWhite model, did not desire the yellowish trim in and out... Love the Eye Sight driving system and 2.5 boxer engine of 182 hp!
Full leather, and the electronics display, Android Auto, Harmon Karden 700 watt audio!!!! Love this car!
Congratulations!
Just bought this in white
Me too! How's your mpg? Mine is not great- hovering around 23-24 combined, but more miles in the city.
this is such a detailed and very helpful review. Thank you!
In Canada, it's called the Oynx and comes with heated steering, rear traffic alert, automatic rear brakes, heated seats, etc.
I like the changes to the '24 model.
Great review. It does sound very quiet compared to the previous model (which I've driven). The 10 way power seat is a nice addition to for a taller person (like being able to tilt the front of the seat cushion up for more thigh support).
Thank you!
Does the power seat have lumbar support for the lower back ?
@@philc824 Yes, 2 way lumbar
@@philc824 Yes. Its 10-way power as of this year - 8 way direction adjustment and 2 way lumbar. Big improvement over last year's 6-way power.
The manual seat goes further down so good better for very tall people
I bought one of these…Onyx model in Canada. Every time I drive it, I am more certain I made the best choice.
Thanks for the very thorough tutorial….
I just bought this and I love it. Same model in white and as an owner of a 2019 Crosstrek, the new one does look more refined- but it is a subtle difference in overall appearance. To me, the biggest difference in appearance is in the hatch area where the new model has a somewhat smaller opening. Not a big deal IMO. The car drives very well and feels super smooth with slightly better steering dynamics and road feel. Interior is great too. The 2 things I would say need improvement are in the infotainment system and the MPG's. I do prefer real buttons over a screen, tho they did a decent job of allowing some hard buttons on the screen and it is easy to use mostly. The mpg's so far have not been very impressive. With about 150 miles driven mostly in the city and some highway, I'm getting around 23-24 mpg. Before doing the highway miles, I was getting around 17mpg in the city. Granted, this includes a lot of stop and go, as well as side street driving, but this to me is unacceptable. Yup, bigger engine than my 2019, but 10mpg worse on average than my older Crosstrek is not what they advertised for this model. I'm gonna get it checked out just in case there's a mechanical issue like the fuel injector or spark plug, but I think it's actually what I'm gonna get.
Thanks for the review 703!
What does the MPG look like now? At 150 miles it'll still need to be broken in. Mime is between 24 and 25. I also do a lot of city driving.
Good thorough review, interesting take and entertaining. You definitely raised my interest in the Crosstrek as an option.
Another great and detailed review. I just love how systematic your reviews are. May I humbly suggest that when you show the thread pattern of the front tire that you steer the wheel to the left so you'll be able to provide a better view. Thank you and more power to your channel.

very detailed review 👍
I just bought crosstrek sports last week. I loved it 🥰
2024?
Just went to my local dealership and ordered this trim and color, sans the package that includes the power seat. I also added the door cladding similar to the Wilderness. They really should be paying you. Your video really sold me on the car.
Haha happy to help
I wish they still made these in a Manual. The sport look with a 6MT would be damn near perfect for me.
I think Subaru needs to bring the manual back for the Crosstrek/Impreza. Soo many comments about it on all my new videos
@@Bluehawks206 There's no reason they shouldn't. Toyota and Honda have made their similar systems work with a MT. The Eyesight system, in my opinion, is way better than TSS or Honda's ACC.
Why Electronic CVT?
[Car A has a CVT, while Car B has a manual transmission. The CVT in Car B allows it to cruise at a lower engine speed compared to Car A because the CVT can always find the ideal engine speed to facilitate its pace. On the other hand, Car A can use its final gear to optimize efficiency, but the engine will still rev faster as the car increases its speed, thereby making the CVT more efficient.
An engine’s power output varies throughout its rev range which means that peak power is only available at certain engine speeds. CVTs can keep the engine speed to produce the most power and not lose their momentum with gear shifts, which improves efficiency. ]
Driving 1000 miles on a Manual is more tired than on a CVT. (but of course, the Cost to replace a CVT is more than a MT). For less/Streamlined Productions; small Companies like Subaru or Mazda would opt for CVT over MT; and 99% of Consumers will benefit from CVT over MT.
Cheers,
@@Studio89Graphic Car B is more fun.
@@elindenstein True enough; but 70% of Cars/Vehicles owners wanted cost saving TCO low ─ especially Women ─ and that the Reason most Ladies wanted a reliable Vehicle = Toyota, Honda, Subaru.
More fun including Nissan Datsun 280zx 1980 MT drove like a charm...
Yeah, wish I had gotten the sport model. Although everything else is great, the 2.0 model is very lackluster in performance.
Love my 2024 more than my 2020 CrossTrek
Best review yet. No mention of the all black headliner. Did you like or prefer it over the light gray?
I like the black personally
Excellent job. Thanks!
I"ve been looking to purchase the crosstrek sport and I so appreciate this video. What crossover would you recommend for a low-ish pricepoint?
This. I think this is one of the better ones you can get for the money. I also really like the way the new Crosstreks look
I think I saw in another 0-60 test that I mode made it in less time than S mode, which was rather surprising (even for the reviewer).
You don't want them to put a sport tuned suspension on the Crosstrek. Firm suspensions don't soak up any bumps. That would suck in a vehicle that is supposed to deal with rough roads and off roading. You need a smoother ride for that. The "sport" is just for looks.
This suspension is very smooth. I have this year/model in white and it rides great.
In America they have models Base, Premium, Sport, Limited
In Canada they have models Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited
I have an Onyx on order - I assume it's the same or similar to Sport
I have the 2024 sport model and I love it. You do need to run around in it in sport mode in town it gives you more than enough power if you keep it in intelligent mode that’s the gas saving mode so you’re takeoff is rather slow just keep it in sport and you will be fine.. intelligent mode is for the highway better mileage that way.. I love mine..
Great advice!
so, are they not using fake shifts anymore?
if so, that is great.
I think this is what I would get is the crosstreck sport base. I like the rs especially the body style but it's to low I drive on horrendous pot hole covered main roads and bumpy washed out back roads and commute 50 miles a day. I don't like the clading but I like everything else. With the black you don't notice the clading so much. Though I like the red color oh well. Looks like this one checks all my boxes of a taller faster impresa.😊
Hello from southern Ontario Canada I really enjoyed the video looking forward to seeing this crossover here
The hooks in. Trunk is for nets to organize small items cargo
Love your presentation and tempo of breakdown, well done!! Subbed. The US Sport exterior accent trim colours looks better than our Cdn Onyx. Ours only has yellow foglight bezels. No other yellow. Kinda boring. Interiors are the same
Thank you. Much appreciated 🙏🏼
Wow he got this Crosstrek from the Subaru dealership real near where I live. That may be the one I test drove actually. It was the black Sport.
Nice car overall. Holding out for my 2023 Prius xle.
I am getting one of these, sight unseen, as a last minute delivery on one of the last cars that the dealer would be getting for a while. I'm coming from years of driving a BMW, and I hope this car will do OK in the snow
This car will do well in snow. What kind of BMW are you coming from?
Had 6 bmw's(325, 325, 330,M3,X5 and X5 4.8L . Since then I've owned an Outback , WRX, Forester , Impreza and just ordered this 2024 Crosstrek Onyx(Canada) and let me tell you , you will be VERY VERY happy. Congrats.
Just got it. Love it
Good reviews! thanks.
I hope in Thailand come with 2.5L engine and sport trim.
Thank you!
I like the car but I really don't like the horrible gold accents in the spot trim 🤢. Completely spoils the aesthetics of the car
You could always black those pieces out at a wrap shop if you really hate the colors
I felt the same way, then realized that the grey, magnetite (the one I got), and black cars are invisible at night or on a gloomy day without that. Itʻs visibility insurance.
this is my dream car, specifically the sport trim with the yellow accents
Rear seat vents would also of been nice
Base model Subaru Crosstrek:
Factory MSRP 25,095 All dealers MSRP is over 27,000
Someone is lying.
Must be the Manufacturer all dealers stand together and all are over 27,000.
Dealers would never lie about a single one of their numbers.
Hi i have a question about your car does your car vibrate/rattle when u are on drive gear and full stop? Around front passenger area? Or its the engine really like that? But as soon as i step on the gas it disappears
It was just a dealer car. Maybe an owner can answer this question for you
The yellow mustard color on the exterior was a bad choice imo. It may give a nice contrast with some colors like blue, gray and black, but look way out of place in others like white pearl.
And you can see that it is already affecting sales. Many of the photos shown on the Internet are of those colors.
The interior choice, let's say I would have preferred red or orange over mustard.
Wish Subaru made a Hybrid. This Sport is perfect except for that!
I like the car but I'm waiting for the wilderness model. The car may not be super fast but it is more offroad capable than many vehicles.
I wish the sport model was available without the yellow trim.
it’s actually gold but pretty much yellow lol I ordered one in the same color I think it’s gonna look great with my custom california black and yellow car plates
@@BlackBruceLeeTheGreatDekuTree You know, after looking at this review again I think you are right. The gold gives the car a bit of pop. I remember looking at the green sport version and the gold didn't look nearly as nice as it does on the black.
The Canadian crosstrek sport looks better then the US version. They call it the crosstrek onyx up there
@@Cville2347 it’s jarring at first when you see it online but in person I feel like it adds personality to what has always been an ordinary looking platform
@@gohan2355 That’s subjective of course they literally just painted the housing of the fog lights gold/yellow. If you want the minimalist look for sure
I don't like the yellow bits, otherwise it's a nice vehicle.
CAN YOU TURN THE AUTO START STOP OFF?
Yes, but you have to do it every time you get in and start the car
There's an aftermarket bypass for as cheap as $30. There is also an "autostopeliminator" hook-up, its a $100 ....
OR ..... don't push on the pedal so hard when you're stopped, it won't engage the auto start/stop function.
At least on the last gen it won't. (I have a '21 Limited).
Don't waste any money on turning this off. It's on your screen and you can turn it off every time. The button is right there. Also, @danielfair4675 is correct. Don't press brake too hard. In fact, I find it's not engaging the autostop enough in my 2024 crosstrek sport.
Sad that they no longer offer the manual transmission. I love manual transmission’s!
I know someone who works at a dealership in a major city, and he said they won’t take a car in on trade if it has a manual, because they are impossible to sell.
The mustard yellow looking accents on the seats is possibly the most hideous thing I've ever seen in a car.
I felt the same way, then realized that the grey, magnetite (the one I got), and black cars are invisible at night or on a gloomy day without that. Itʻs visibility insurance.
Of course it is 🤡
While I'm driving it, I don't really look at the seats. I am thinking about getting seat covers tho.
Yellow painted lines look out of style, just a stupid idea !!!
It's been the same yellow/gold on other models.
What brand is the sound system?
And does it sound good?
It sounds pretty decent for being the standard system.. Not sure the brand
Upgrade to the Harmon Kardon if available.
Does it come with a hitch receiver for a bike rack?
You have to option that
Nice review/edit. My question would be, can you get under and remove oil drain plug without ramps?
Depends how thin you are... Lol
It’s not “satin”. It’s unpainted black plastic.
Whoaaaa lol totally ran a red light! Otherwise great video thanks!
Now why didn’t Ford take inspiration from this with their vertical infotainment screen (Cough cough Ford explorer 👀). That’s a good design. and it looks nice too
Not a fan of the cladding on the side wheel wells, a tad overdone and not sure why they think yellow accents are a good look
Other than that it looks good and sized just right
Wish the keyless entry and start were optional, not sure I want a radiating fob next to my boys
Fair enough. Seems like nowadays everything radiates something

@pd4467 I think you'll be fine ....
The states of Mississippi & Virginia and the District of Columbia (aka Washington D C.) Are the only places I think detectors are illegal.
Sad for the loss of MT
I have nearly this exact car minus the power seats/moonroof package, and my biggest complaint is that the head rests, which are more basic than the ones shown here, are fixed and tilt your head down, which is horrible if you have neck issues. I have had to buy (for the second car in row now) a lumbar support pillow so I am scooted a bit forward on the seat which gets me away from having my head shoved down. Come on, Subaru. A shitty place to cut corners.
I hate that feeling when the headrests are like that!
Are they not using silicone RTV instead of actual gaskets now ? ,Thats fine for a while but it’s going to be a huge repair and leaking issue down the road if you hold onto the cars for a long time, Silicone breaks down overtime which will cause leaking.. The mechanic will have to literally lift the whole engine out to repair which will cost thousands versus just repairing a gasket.Buyer beware, I’m shocked Subaru is doing this now but it saves them a ton of money using the robots to use silicone seal.
Pushing 40 grand for a sub-compact crossover is not affordable. Prices are beyond the pale now.
Last week, I paid around $34k with MSRP, taxes, fees and no BS extras like lojack or the paint protection. I'm in Chicago. The MSRP was around $30k for this very model/year.
Only issue no startek seats
My thoughts exactly, I was contemplating buying a 2023 Sport and soon after they announced the new 2024 models, I like the sport but I didn’t love the fact that they removed the Startek seats, that was a big selling point for me, I’m debating if I should get the Limited instead
@@TheAlain090 I have a 2021 Sport. Not sure the improvements are worth the upgrade. I would buy the limited this time around. Cloth seats don’t work for me. I also hate the yellow exterior accents.
@@marktepper3440 probably not worth the upgrade if you already have a 2022-2023 model, I was considering buying a used 22 or 23 Sport, but prices are super high, I’m better off buying a new limited

No 6 Speed MT/ No Want! The 2023 looks better.
Still no navigation with the Sport model?
Does anyone care about nav anymore with Apple CarPlay functionality being so standard?
I do. I want nav integrated into the car.
Subaru REALLY needs to read the room. If they put the 2.4 from the WRX in this car, they'd be printing money.
I've actually talked to the manager at the dealer about this (except in reference to the Impreza), and basically they were saying that if Subaru did that it would take a lot of sales away from the WRX. Hence why they don't do it
The Crosstrek is already their best selling vehicle, they'll be fine.
@@703SpeedI don’t get this logic at all. No company thinks that way. They would simply sell a LOT more cars overall. And that would be the main goal of a car manufacturer.
I said that exact thing to my car dealer. Put the WRX engine in this and give us back the MT. Theyʻll sell faster than you can get them in.
@@703Speed I think this is correct, esp for a smallish car maker like Subaru. Taking a gamble on turbo/MT for the crosstrek might not make $$$ sense if they have limited production capacity. They know their customers too. I just bought a Crosstrek Sport and don't need a turbo or a MT, and if I did I'd have the Outback for turbo or the WRX. Take a chance on making extra Crosstreks with turbo/MT and if few buy them (except the enthusiasts), they're stuck with thousands of unsold units.
Is it possible to do a side by side comparision with this and the imprezza?
I could try to put something like that together
Just totalled my Forester and now looking at this one. Because I don't want the 2.0 I have to get the Onyx (in Canada) and the Limited is too expensive. But man , those yellow accents on the seats is killing me. Nope , i don't want a Forester so this is my only option. My daughter has the black 2023 model with the black seats and orange stitches. Looks GREAT!!!!
I'm going to either wrap or spray Raptor bed liner on the yellow accent stripes! They need to go!
We don't have the yellow accent stripes here in Canada, all we have is the Yellow fog light surround. I need to find a solution for the seats. Although they are kinda growing on me the more I look at it.@@thisspotrules3631

Yeah, I’ve got the sister Impreza RS and the default CVT tuning floored works best.
Engine/"gear" shifting ratios are tight with the shifters on this model and you should be able to go pretty fast with them in Sport mode. I blast through the gears with gas pedal down.
What is the "Intelligent Mode"??
Basically like a "normal" drive mode
@@703Speed thank you!!
I still prefer manual transmission. The industry continues taking all the fun out of driving, one model at a time.
Yup! It's definitely unfortunate
Sadly, the demand for MT is microscopic. Not a lot of incentive to make them if nobody buys them. It's very niche nowadays, not an entry-level option as it once was.
