Cudos for the licks. Can't make the Texas show this year. I was there last year. Love to see Lloyd again, it's been a while. Thanks for the cool picking lesson.
Lloyd doesn`t pull the first string with his middle finger. He has shown me, he is a fret above the key playing in then waves the bar on the first string. Example Joe Box Charlie.
Geoff, I am using the Emmons setup with my first pedal being the 0 pedal (Franklin pedal). Both setups have pros and cons, though; I guess it just depends on what you started with. Keep picking!
Very few use it. I know this because when I was doing research for my book, "The Evolution of the Pedal Steel Guitar", I called most of the PSG manufacturers and asked them what was the ratio between BE and JD tunings, when they sell their guitars. Every one said about the same thing, (paraphrasing) "most overwhelmingly ask for the BE tuning. And if they don't ask, we always out send the BE tuning". For what it's worth.
Aaron, Remember to tell your friends that Lloyd only uses 3 and 4..........He has created all these great sounds with his 3 and 4.......Smart man and that's why they called him MR. Nashville............
Yes sir you are correct. Just my take on a type of sound. Lloyd is so true and precise on his bar slants it give us all something to aspire to. Keep Picking. Aaron
NO disrespect. But I wonder why Lloyd raised the first string a half tone with a knee lever, then used his left finger to do the same thing? Also, he often slanted the bar to catch that half tone on the first string to do the same thing. I have seen him do it many times. Strange. Again, NO disrespect.
The finger pull to impress my friends....lol and true! Good stuff !
Yes, I thought that was funny; glad you caught that.

Larry, just got back in town and the show was great. Lloyd was really super and such a joy that my son got to see him.
Keep picking! Aaron
I love it " and it surprised me how you can remember all thoes licks ..
Thank you for the lessons....
Doing these videos helps me remember and practice some of the licks I haven't done in a while. Glad you like it.
Aaron
I never knew how Lloyd did that lick... thanks again ...
Ronnie , it could be done with a bar movement , but the pull is more fun. Glad you liked it.
Keep picking. Aaron
I'd love to hear the context and timing with a background track. Great lesson.
Great idea. I will do that . I was thinking about this already and, will do an over view of Lloyds licks with a rhythm track.
Thanks! Aaron
Good stuff Aaron. How about a couple of LG signature ballad licks? Thanks. JimE
JimE, just got back from the show and yes, that thought is running through my mind. Will work a few up for us to learn.

Larry, thanks for sharing.
I really enjoy your steel playing. Is there a way I can get in touch with you?
Frank, this best way in at steelpicking@gmail.com. Thanks!
Aaron
Surprising how many instructors use the Day setup on thier guitars.

Will do thanks again.
Aaron
He mainly uses only 3 and 3. You'll notice that he has a ist string knee lever, but doesn't use it.
That's one way to do it, but Lloyd uses the bar to get that 1st string lick.
