Not to mention his baptism as an actor in "To kill a mockingbird", and two of his most memorable roles, prior to "The Godfather", that is, "True Grit", opposite John Wayne, and "The Chase", first time Duvall coincided with Marlon Brando. I mean, Robert Duvall is Hollywood royalty.
Robert Duvall does the best interviews! He’ll say anything! He did an interview on Howard stern on the phone about five or six years ago that was absolutely incredible!!!
But I’ve seen him on Graham before where he said very little. He was very lively here. Maybe the other guests as well as Graham just opened him up. Great stories.
My three all-time favorite movies with Robert Duvall, “The Godfather” 1972, as Tom Hagen. “MASH” 1979 as Major Frank Burns and finally his first film “To Kill a Mockingbird” 1962 when he portrayed Boo Radley. The man is a legend! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Really loved him in ALL of his western movies! His voice, with the pause in his speech, right before he KILLS YOU! GREAT ACTOR and A GREAT DANCER!!! Believe it or not!!!
TokyoKazama He wasn't going to laugh but at the end Duvall looked at him and he had to put on a fake one. I also had the same idea as you. Maybe he just doesn't like talk shows...
i love the irony of Duvall explaining that it took Brando 3 seconds to catch onto the joke, and at the end, Downey Junior took 3 seconds to catch onto the joke.....I need a life. Or to get laid - one of the two.
More people should see Duvall's early work in TV sci fi. As well as his excellent appearance in _The Outer Limits,_ he also has a superb role as an alien in an early episode of _Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea._ This was in the first and best season, long before that series gave up being clever and tense and became a byword for cheap bottle shows featuring stupid rubber monsters.
Watching the class of r. Duvall in the eagle has landed was a great pleasure. He was outstanding in godfather. Sad that Coppola couldn't offer him the appropriate money for GF3
You've got that right. I've always said that there are very few actors I'd like to shake their hand and Duvall, Eastwood and Hackman are about it for me.
I don’t know why you think he is underrated-I, and everyone I know feel he is one of the VERY Best Actors to ever come across the screen!!-Just GREAT!!
Actually he isn't that underrated. He is greatly appreciated by cinema industry but he has smooth characteristics that makes him somehow a little bit invisible lol
It's funny; I just watched Joe Kidd again yesterday. And it featured a great actor (Duvall) a good actor (Eastwood) and a man who often repeated lines in front of a movie camera (John Saxon).
Duvall without doubt one of the greatest actors of the 20th century hands down ...the man has a body of work that will still be watched and admired by the public for the foreseeable future .
Robert Duvall is one of the greatest actors of all time. Absolute legend .
ammorreztristar: He was also phenomenal in The Apostle, though I don't think it received nearly the acclaim it deserved.
Duvall is greatly underrated.
Sean Shupp Thank You. I've been saying that for years. Duvall is great and the Apostle is indeed one of my favorite all time movies.
The apostle!!!!
The apostle!!!!
Duvall is hands down one of the greatest actors of all time. Brilliant on everything he rolls up to.

I think Robert Duvall is my favorite actor,, and you can tell he's a humble and sincere person.

He was Boo Radley?
Lonesome Dove is my favorite Duvall performance! But he is awesome in everything he does.
And Lonesome Dove.
So I take it RDJ went to the Jimmie Fallon school of fake laughter
At the top of their class
Better than none. Critic s. A laugh is a laugh.
Yeah Fallon is the worst at that, you would think it’s a nervous tick but it’s not he’s just does it for the person he’s talking to
@Mastodon Stampede ikr everyone loves him,i hate him because how he acts in public
I lost it when he did the leg kicks 😂 😂 😂
Great guys, undoubtedly one of the best actors of all time & still going strong in his late 80’s. 👍🏻
Not really. He is good but certainly none of the greatest.
@@Vinterfrid he is
He is so fantastic...the raw..the truth and all the time with everything...just Love him...
Mr. Duvall seems to be the same in real life as he is on stage. Very genuine.
buddy guided him fishing the Merimachie river in NB. he said Duvall is EXACTLY as he appears; a real normal guy without a hint of ego or elitism.
That's because he doesn't have a fake bone in his body.
Holy shit, these three guys on one couch. Talk about a golden line up.
+Sinvisigoth Plus U2 came on later! Great episode
I only see one
Graham always gets the best
Who cares about Stephen? Duvall is the best.

Robert Downey's laugh could not be more fake even if he tried!
My guess is that he didn't get it and didn't want to look foolish.
Donald Dorn exaaaaactly
I think he wanted to be the next brando in every way. Wait for 3 seconds and act like u dont get it. People will say hes like brando
Maybe his balls are small so he is uncomfortable with the locker room talk.
Took him more than 3 seconds to catch the joke, innit?
Duvalls most overlooked role is Falling Down. Such a gem.
Irony. I just watched "Falling Down" and thought that the Duvall part is what kept that movie balanced.
@@williamdillard5060 Yup, it still holds up telling the story of two men at their crossroads.
I love how he goes all in on the owners and chefs but always stays respectful towards the waiters

Just saw an old 60's episode of Combat! with Duvall as a German officer. A fine, versatile actor over the decades.
Guys like Duvall and Gene Hackman are what separates actors from movie stars. Legends
It's a pity that Gene Hackman is retired and soon Robert will follow the road. Indeed, they're LEGENDS!
