THANKS FOR WATCHING!
Nice job! Another way would be to track the camera, and project the exterior onto 3D geometry.
The masking could be done with no or very few keyframes if you parent the mask layers to a 2D tracker or a Mocha track. Thanks for the great videos!
Totally trying this out with a slypod. The parallax effect between the window view and interior is nice!
Yeah, it is cool!
I cant wait until AI can do this.
Almost feel like a static shot and then animating a slide in post would be close enough of the look without all the tedious key framing. Just on a couple of the key shots of the property.
Thanks again for your awesome videos, Mike. (Man, that's some tedious editing work but necessary for the money shot.)
Would this be a similar process for the day-to-dusk footage that is becoming more common in RE vids lately? (possibly another video idea?)
Good question, I’ve never attempted one of those types of shots before. Those are not as complicated I believe. That is a good video topic. Thanks!
great tutorial as always bro. i try to replicate this technic befoce watching your video withoud slider i made little under expose for the outside view dublicate the clip to top layer edited upper layer for outside view then edited under layer for interior and made masking over top layer and premier do the tricks but you can do with other editors .of course if you have slider you can do better work
As an aspiring filmmaker with a little bit of experience on set can I make a suggestion? Won’t work in all scenarios but here is a tip used for movies. There are ND filters that you can buy as a roll of film and they would tape that to the outside of the windows. It would work like tint but would save the editing time. It’s a small investment but works. A second tips is they also use what is called Scrims which are netting material that you can see through and it can be rigged outside as well but it’s a one time buy versus the ND film.
Thanks for the tips! I’m aware of the ND film. These shoots are done quickly so not a lot of time to mess around and people may not want you taping stuff on their windows. Also, what about the second floor? Not gonna be climbing up on a ladder to put film over the window. For film productions and stuff like that, yeah, that type of time investment makes sense.
What slider are you using?
Which lens is used?
I'd like to see something similar done using bright lighting to overexpose the interior on the exterior-exposed shot. Then use the darken blend mode with a sloppy mask around the door to perfectly do this in a fraction of the time post with a presumably better result. Might have to experiment.
That is an interesting thought!
Why not put a big flood light on a gimbal, and expose inside ?
ı am using fujifilm xh2s7 viltrox 13 mm f1.4 lens and haida 3-7 stop nd filter. But still ı cant balance indoor and outdoor light. always windows light exploid. ı have got djı rs3 mini gimbal. can ı do same shoot like you same position 2 shoot one normal other lower iso. one question ı am shooting always f1.4 is that true for video
The camera movement has to be pretty much identical to be able to mask in the windows. whatever apparatus you use is all good as long as you can achieve that.
Do you have a video about pulling Windows for a photo?
flambient and edit in photoshop blend the layers
