Hi Taylor, I am new to real estate photography & videography. I normally photograph sports and create highlight sports videos or memory videos. Recently I was presented with an opportunity to capture custom homes and your videos have been so informative (you are a great teacher) and have helped me navigate this new challenge, so thank you! After watching this video, I wanted to ask, do you use transitions between your clips? And if so what are your go to transitions?
Thanks! & Congrats - hope it is going well for you so far! I don't really use transitions. Sometimes slight speed ramp on the end of one shot and the start of the next one, but I usually keep things pretty simple.
Nice video! Question, is it good to use LUTs for real estate videos? Also, if you can share your closing clip of a video to understand how to finish them :)
Thanks! Personally I just use my own LUTs that keep things looking natural. I think this video wasn't shot in LOG but typically I shoot in LOG so it helps speed things up as a starting point for coloring. Stylized LUTS could work sometimes but personally I think most clients would want to have more accurate colors to show off the properties. What closing clip do you mean?
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Thanks for replying so fast! Sorry I meant where can I check your real estate videos to check on the closing clip (sunset, walking away, etc), just to understand a bit more :)
When it comes to the export to 4k etc, how do you handle delivering the video? Do you offer the client options such as USB/WeTransfer? Would a 4K file cause issues with something like that? Great video by the way, really gives me the confidence to go and try getting a client!
Thanks so much for the feedback! Yes, so depending on your camera you have more or less room to zoom where it still looks good. My EOS R tends to be fine if it’s 10% or less (shot in 1080p) but if I’m on my c200 in 4K i have a lot more room to reframe & key frame in post. If you go too far it can start to get pixelated. Main reason for 4K is because RUclips/Facebook/IG compress the files some when uploading so it helps to counteract that and keep the quality a little better 😁 Try it out at home and see what works with your camera and you should be good to go!
I have a question, please How is the finished project delivered to the Client? Zip file? Thumb drive? Explanation of the various delivery methods I would find helpful Thanks for your time
I use Google Drive ! Dropbox is great as well. I make a folder for each client that they always can access, then one per project inside that (photos or videos in separate sub folders ) and send them a link to download when it’s ready. Easy and fast !
Hi Taylor, I am using a7iii, Laowa 15mm 2.0, 60 fps HD and footage is not sharp, drastically different than 24 fps 4k. Should I use 24 fps 4k or I am making mistake with setup for 60fps?
Both are great ! 4K is going to get more details if you can do it full frame. I actually like 30fps most now, sometimes 60fps slowed down is too slow so I like 30 most of the time
shutter speed 125, ISO depends inside 200 - 600, maybe is mistake F constantly 2.0 - 2.5, PP 10 ( HLG 2 ; Color mode 709) on timeline I set up 24 fps for video of 60 fps, and that is the way how I am slowing down. I am using SD card 170 mb/s.
@@nikolamladenovic6863 Nice! Everything sounds right… Is the difference you’re comparing basically 4K vs 1080p? That will look a lot different on most cameras. I forget which frame rates are an option on your camera but if you can work with the 4K options I’d go for it
Hey! I do sometimes if it's bright enough or if there's a creative reason to that I'm planning for (like speed ramping, slow mo, etc) There's not really any "hard rules" to any of this - Once you know how the frame rates will affect your edit, you can play with them how you want to or when you need to. For interiors with lower ambient light my footage gets more noisy if I do high frame rates indoors (faster shutter speed makes me use a higher iso which causes noise - my camera's native ISO is 400 and gets noisy close to 2000+) So thats another reason as a workaround & I usually like how the 30fps slowed down to 80% works for pacing in my edits so thats usually my go-to! If / When I use a different camera like a Sony A7S III with super good low light performance its different since you can basically do whatever you want to and get clean footage (At It's Native 640 ISO and 12,800 ISO) So nice! Hope that makes sense!
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo ah ok cool. Thanks for responding man, I love your videos! You're so methodic and literal with the things you do! The attention to detail is great! True professional!
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo no prob! Well tbh, I'm at "ground zero" w/ regards to true photography and videography. So I'm trying to practice and learn all I can. Your channel helps me learn and develop the correct habits right from the beginning...
Hey! Depends on what program you’re using. Typically you can just change the footage speed to match your timeline (60fps footage on a 24fps timeline can go up to 40% speed to still have enough frames for smooth playback. 30fps can go to 80% speed etc) ! For premiere pro there’s an effect called warp stabilizer you can add, for Final Cut there’s just a box in the effects tab that says stabilize. Hope that helps!
Yeah! You can also right click on the actual footage in your media / bins before putting it on the timeline and "interpret footage" which will match the timeline settings (ex: it would auto interpret 30fps to 80% speed, 60fps to 40% speed etc.) then when you move the footage to your timeline it will already be slow and you can add warp stabilizer right away. I did that in this video at about the 4 minute mark. Another thing to note - If you change the speed once the footage is on the timeline, you can't add warp stabilizer afterward. A warning will pop up. To work around that, after changing the speed on the timeline (ex: if you are doing speed ramps or something like that) You can right click on the footage and "Nest" it first. Then it will basically make a copy of the footage with the current edits and you can then add warp stabilizer (in effects tab) onto it at that point. @@MoonieTheGrey
Aloha Taylor! Your videos have helped me so much with motivation and inspiration to push ahead with my Real Estate photo and video business! I've seen a lot of youtube channels but I find yours the most laid back and easy to follow, you rock! I have a questionm, why don't you shoot 60fps for indoors? Is that just 30fps is enough to slow down? Or is it because 60fps files are heavier?
So cool! Thanks for sharing :) Its mostly because of how my camera does when shooting in low light. Higher iso gets noisy looking pretty fast. So using 30fps in lower light situations (indoors) helps me get cleaner videos (slower shutter speeds = brighter). If I were using a camera with better low light performance like a7siii, I'd probably always shoot at 60fps just to have more room in post - because why not! Also most of the time for these types of shoots, I just use slow-mo to help with stabilization so 80% (30fps) usually works just fine for me for indoor/outdoor too! 60fps at 40% is pretty slow! 😂 Hope that helps!
Great Video. Answered a lot of questions I've been having and the teaser idea is fantastic. The thing that I struggle with is shooting at 30 fps. I like to keep my clips at around 4 seconds so when you shoot at 30 fps and them interpreting down to 23.976 it makes them a bit too long. How do you manage this?
Nice! Depending on what style you like, you could do faster movements (so slow-motion is covering everything in less seconds) OR just use 24p and do it at the speed you want the edit to be in. Always cutting the best parts of the clips either way
Usually shoots are about 1-2 hours, edits usually 1-3 minutes, 4K not usually required - as long as the footage looks good it should be ok from my experience 👍

Great tips! Also, I appears you only selected 9 items, but 'New Folder With Selection' says it's 10 items? Also, when you say you're "hiding" items, do you mean selecting?

@@tfdrealestate6238 Exactly! Trying to keep the noise down, and I found a bit of a sweet spot, knowing how fast to move to everything to keep it pretty consistent from shot to shot. Depends on what camera you have, too. If you have one with a higher base ISO like a Sony I would probably go with 60fps most of the time because why not have more flexibility in post ? :)
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo I've always shot every thing in 60, on my EOS R, and there are definitely times I fight with noise. I'm going to give 30 a try on my next shoot. I never even considered it before. Thanks !
@@tfdrealestate6238 For sure! Another trick that can help too is if you are on 30fps shooting a dark room where nothing's moving (fans off etc) - try moving slow and change your shutter speed to half speed (1/30 instead of 1/60) to bump up the exposure instead of using a higher ISO. Works pretty well without losing much detail if you keep the movement slow and steady! If I do that Ill usually get one shot that way and another option at regular shutter speed for safety just in case it doesn't work out well.

I’m on the edge right now, of graduating from shooting listing vids with my iPhone, to buying a Canon R... still on the fence as shooting isn’t my full time gig anymore, but “the one with the most toys when he dies wins”... right? Lol
@@christherealestateguy414 Nice!! Make sure to check out Sony too if you're mostly doing videos. The new ones have a bit more dynamic range than Canon! Have you tried renting one to see what you think?
you are perfect, thank you so much for tricks :)
I have a 4 sec video where my horizontal lines were originally horizontal and then became oblique. How to make them allways horizontal?
I think i know what you mean… sometimes it’s not always perfect and that’s ok. But it helps me the most to spend more time getting a Balanced gimbal + use pan/tilt follow mode so roll axis doesn’t shift 👍
"The point is to sell the house" I see so many videos where they show some crazy transitions, even though I like it, I think they over do it and looks like they promoting their skills instead of promoting the house. Great video!
Exactly!! lol Thanks for checking out the channel :)
Be aware, some people are asked to do that by the realtor. One of my clients *always* asks for super fast, flashy editing with loud, upbeat music

Really enjoyed how you do your intros. Very good point to consider and add to my future projects. One thing I will say though. iPhone 11 Pro footage is wild. I stopped using my Sony for videos. I use it just for photos now
Thanks!! 100% about trying to keep peoples attention. That’s wild! If it works it works 🤷♂️ Keep it up!
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo thank you!
Sorry I meant where can I check your real estate videos to check on the closing clip (sunset, walking away, etc), just to understand a bit more :)

no color correction or color space?
Hey Taylor, thanks for these tips. Do you also use After Effects when making your videos?
Hey! Not really. For graphics I usually just find pre made title animations to use online 👍👍
Great vid! About how much should it take to edit a video from start to finish?
I was wondering the same thing lol? He did great!
Usually like an hour or two! Sorry I missed this before :)
When it comes to the export to 4k etc, how do you handle delivering the video? Do you offer the client options such as USB/WeTransfer?
Would a 4K file cause issues with something like that? Great video by the way, really gives me the confidence to go and try getting a client!
Thanks for the support! I just do everything through Google Drive :) Dropbox is great too! Whatever works fastest to get it to the client.
This was really great and so helpful, thank you! Only question, does exporting at 4k stretch anything you zoomed in on? Just curious.
I have a question, please
How is the finished project delivered to the Client? Zip file? Thumb drive?
Explanation of the various delivery methods I would find helpful
Thanks for your time
I use Google Drive ! Dropbox is great as well. I make a folder for each client that they always can access, then one per project inside that (photos or videos in separate sub folders ) and send them a link to download when it’s ready. Easy and fast !
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo i appreciate the reply!

Hi Taylor, I am using a7iii, Laowa 15mm 2.0, 60 fps HD and footage is not sharp, drastically different than 24 fps 4k. Should I use 24 fps 4k or I am making mistake with setup for 60fps?
Hey! What are your other settings ? (Shutter speed, ISO, timeline on editing program, playback speed etc)
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Thank you so much for advice, 4k 30 fps sounds great for me.
@@nikolamladenovic6863 Nice! Everything sounds right… Is the difference you’re comparing basically 4K vs 1080p? That will look a lot different on most cameras. I forget which frame rates are an option on your camera but if you can work with the 4K options I’d go for it
Hey Tyler! Why do you not you shoot 60FPS inside the home? From a Curious Fan 🤓
Hope that makes sense!
i might have missed it but what is the app that you use to edit all this?
Hey! Premiere pro. Trying out final cut right now though, and it’s pretty great! Lots cheaper over the long run too.
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo thank you ill give both a try
How many mm is the lens that shoots you?
Not totally sure since it was a long time ago but probably 18 or 20mm on a super35 camera so close to 24-30mm for full frame.

how do you slomo & do image stabilzier
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo i use primere pro but still a newbie. So i use the slowmotion and wrap stabilizer ?
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Thanks buddy!

Always cutting the best parts of the clips either way
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Do you try to keep each clip under a certain length? Or is that a non factor?
@@theflodge Mostly just however long it needs to be to get the information across without being too long.
Thanks for this video! question, how long are real estate videos usually and do real estates require 4k footage?

@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Out of curiosity, why 30fps inside as opposed to 60? Is it just to have more exposure while keeping a bit of slow mo options?
