Early Spring Back Bay Tautog Action

First trip of the season for the Fish in OC skiff! Found some tautog aka blackfish on the south jetty and had some fun.

When I used to live on Eastern Long Island I would fish the boulders up around the Northeast side of plum Island. I get back my boat into these massive boulders and pick up Giant tautog with green crabs. I love those. The meat is even good cold in like a salad. I miss Long Island fishing. Florida fishing to me sucks with all the regulations and their seasons. Catch and release pretty much a lot. Also down here they call fluke, flounder. We used to catch the snowshoe flounder off Gardner's Island in the spring. I would shovel snow out of my boat to go fishing out there. Flounder don't have teeth lol

I have never caught flounder with water Temps below 60 degrees Try the flats the water is warmer on a sunny day 😎
