  • After 5 days in the mountains, on a Solo Survival mission, I ran out of food and water. Fishing for food became the last option and after several Trout Catch & Cooks, I had to escape the mountains due to bad weather rolling in. This is part 3 of a 3-Part series.
    Part 1: • 5 DAY SOLO Backpacking...

    You are dialing in the adventure element--this is what makes a great survival catch and cook. The idea of testing your limits, putting yourself out there facing energy drain and hunger--audiences really enjoy seeing our hero beat the odds and live off the land. Now the next test is a 48 or 72 hour survival challenge. No food items just butter and spices! Love your work, brother! LIKED! 😀

    Just a heads up. I’ve noticed your sawyer squeeze water filter had been pretty tough to squeeze water through. Which is great because it means the filter is working as intended! But after build up of contaminants/dirt the flow rate slows down and it requires a lot of force to filter water. This is the best time to use the syringe and back flush the filter to try and prevent the bag from failing. Also, you can just carry and plastic water bottle, screw the filter right on top and drink right from the filter. Fish on baby!

    • @NWFishingSecrets
      @NWFishingSecrets  2 года назад +24

      Good and true observation! I’ve gotten a good amount of mileage out of that little sawyer. Will see what a good back flush can do! Thanks!

    • @rob_6292
      @rob_6292 Год назад +1

      you can get a coupling that mates on your water bottle so you can just backflush that way. saves you from carrying the syringe.

    A decent technique if you’ve never tried it, is to use a couple feet of tippet, and then tie on a fly that hangs back from your spinner. The spinner kind of gets the trouts attention, and then they see the fly a couple feet back and take it. You should give it a go!

    I can't wait to come back home to Central Washington and start fishing these lakes. 4 years in SE Texas is enough for me. I need my mountains back. Thanks for the inspiration and reminders of home.

    My son and I fished that same lake in August in the exact spot you are fishing in the video. We caught a bunch of cutts on spinners a flies. One of the prettiest lakes I’ve hiked to. Thanks for doing what you do. Keep it up brotha!

    I'm an older guy from Everett. spent a lot of time fishing high lakes when I was younger. I know you are in love with your Bullet lures however THE most consistent lure I've ever used on Cutthroat is the 3/8 oz 50/50 chrome/red Kastmaster. Other colors work of course like gold/red, chrome/orange but this is the standard. Also try bubble/fly. I know....Its all over this year in the high Cascades but remember for next season.
    I also recommend you take your kayak down to Takalah lake near mt Adams early next summer. Oh the scenery!

    Dude you are living the dream. Out hear on the East coast the mountains we have do not compare to what you have on the west coast. I am beyond envious. Keep up the great content fish on.

    I’m just happy to see you’re safe man. I was a little worried seeing your water filter break on ya, and wow! You documented some really beautiful scenery, especially with the sky and the stars. It honestly really added substance to your video man. It hit home for me, great job 🙏🏼🤙🏽✌🏼💯

    Thank you for another great one. It's so nice to watch your vids and using it as an "escape". You're going to cost me a lot of money in fishing equipment when spring comes. ;)

    What a beautiful place. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.
    I was surprised you kept pushing to go further. It made me a little nervous but that was epic.
    My 5 year old watched most of it with me and then asked to rewind to the part he missed at the start. So you're at least as entertaining as power rangers :)
