Andy - The ESL Guy Man, I can’t believe I’m saying this... but now I prefer the adults 🤣. My kids are SO SASSY when in online classes! I have no idea why! And the teens... well, spooky 👻. Hugs from Brazil 🇧🇷
@@paulocavalcante9563 Tell me about it!!!. Teenagers are ... difficult. They just don´t cooperate :( ... And kids are on another level, they cooperate TOO MUCH !
I've been saying this all along now - zoom classes are like channeling - "Hello, is there anybody out there? Brad, can you hear us? Can you say something please? Brad? Are you there?" 🤦♀️ so funny at first, but then got upsetting and irritating... Not motivating at all - speaking from the "today's a bad day" teacher's perspective 😁
'Find something' is a good game - and I've also played something like this combined with Kim's Game. Six students find something of the particular colour or whatever, and then you put them in a breakout room (if you're using Zoom) to see how many of the things they saw they can remember.
I have been thinking of how to get my students engaged and relaxed before and after lessons until I landed on this. Wow! Thanks for the hilarious ideas and games.
Thanks!! I have 3 zoom in games on my channel and a Christmas video that's similar. You just play the video and have your students guess in English what they can see. If they don't know the word they can do actions or try and describe it. Hope that helps 😁
That's great! I've got some other videos about online teaching you can check out aswell and more to come. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!!
Thank you!! I was sitting here trying to figure out how to engage some of my regular students today and we will be playing "What do I have?" Thank you SO MUCH!!
Thanks man! I'm new to the online teaching game as well so just trying out things I've done in class that I think will work well online. I'm going to have to go through your back catalog for more ideas ;-)
Hey Andy! just want you to know that since the covid I'm struggling with lesson planning, this is very helpful for a warmer and you're very funny! keep up the good work!
hey, I really liked your video..energetic and informative - just the way I like an info video to be...must admit that I watched your vid on x1.5 speed...so that obviously probably played a role too (however when a vid is watchable on higher speeds that generally is a compliment to your pronounciation and presenting skills)
I'm studying to be a teacher. The problem here is.. I'm with 7th graders (vulnerable background), they don't participate, they turn on their cameras neither! 😩. They have been learning with the grammar translation method. So they haven't had meaningful experiences with English. I don't know how to create a Warm up activity considering the things that I mentioned :( I can't even see them, I'm not their teacher but I have to do this as required by my teachers. Please help me!!
Hi. I'm an English teacher from Iran. I have worked on games a lot but not all can be used on line. I am looking for a way how i can adapt the classroom games to online games. Some like Simon Says , or I can spy with my little eyes...... can be matched of course. Thanks anyway
Hey ! I'm from Iran too. I am curious about the Application that you've been using for teaching. Actually I've got so many problems with WhatsApp and skype My student can't connect to them easily. Im looking for the best App for teaching in Iran I need your recommendation Thank you
Thank you! A simple warm up you can try is having something like a small ball or coin in one hand. Quickly spin your hands around and then allow the student to guess which hand it's in. I just have them say A or B. If they get it correct you can award points. I'll have new videos on games uploaded soon. You can also check out video on my top 5 warm up games for online teaching.
Haha! Yeah, it's not easy keeping them entertained for that long! I think 30 minutes is a much better time....I hate 1 hour with the 3 and 4 year olds!! Do you live in China as well yeah?
I use this 'Guess The Sound Resource' - my students love it! www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Guess-The-Sound-For-Skype-and-Zoom-Lessons-Distance-Learning-5663368
