This reminds me of the time when i beat my uncle for the first time and he was about 1300 and I was 800. I played a beautiful knight sac for mate which still remains as my best move ever.
i once sacked my rook for my dad's bishop for defensive measures. i was under a giant attack, but that let me survive for a long time (then i blundered and lost lmao)
I think 2000 can play very well several openings (7-10?), while 1500 usually play the same two or three openins and grind with that. I'm 1500/1600 btw.
I would love more of this content, a series would be great. Maybe even specialized episodes like “the differences between 1500 and 2000 endgames” etc. This really was very interesting and helpful.
they had to change the title like 3 times and it's still performing worse than other videos so I doubt we got another one coming, this is probably gonna end up being the kinda stuff u gotta buy in a course
It’s cool as a 1200 to see the last steps vs the next steps side by side And to see how the thinking evolves at each rating level definitely would like more videos like this
could we do a similar video but for 1800 vs 2200 or something of the sort? I know most of your audience is mostly beginners but that'd be very cool. Levy you're still the goat
This! Make a series out of it by covering every skill level! And expand it by doing it in classical chess too! :D Maybe end at super GM vs GM comparisons. Like, what sort of decisions are critical in the games of Magnus, for example. I feel like this format is a great way to illustrate what the nature of the game is at levels higher than our own. I suppose it requires a very keen understanding of the game to be able to distill it in such an instructional manner, so maybe super GM videos are too tall an order...
PLEASE do a 1500 to 2000, as a current 1500 myself, I would love to see the difference between the ratings and what I need to improve on in order to reach such a rating. Thanks Gotham!

@@Censeo yeah, but it's always easier to watch than play lol. Unfortunately I don't think he will do a video, as this video kinda underperformed, and he had to change a thumbnail. I really wish he doesn't care about stats that much, as that video would actually be super helpful.
when i was around 1300-1400, i played an 1800. we were pretty equal in the opening, then I lost one pawn to a mistake. then two, then three, then my position fell apart. I didnt even make any stupid game ending blunders in that one. we traded down to a couple pieces and pawn endgame and I just got obliterated. that would be the same difference here. if the 1000 doesnt straight up blunder anything then itll end up somewhat similar to my game with that 1800.
that would be the game i (black sicilian, very open) just played against my brother (e4), where he got too aggressive in the middle, and I outflanked him by pinning a knight and a queen with an xray check from a bishop + queen as backup. He could've forced a queen trade with a little sideways move, so his bishop could join in the defense but he took an irrelevant knight instead. It's like he's working towards danger levels but without realizing his own peril.
This is so heartwarming to watch because just 3 weeks ago, i was literrally at 1000-1100, never going up for like 8-10 months and suddenly i started to win games and just finding ways to save lost positions and reached 1500 rapid and today this video comes out. I don't know if you'd always done this and I just didn't notice, but I *love* that the board loses color when you're showing woulda/coulda/shoulda moves!
I don't think I agree much with Levy's points often though because the reason we all won't take the pawn in the center is because we just don't know a proper follow up and we aren't prepared for counter plays that's why black only took the center pawn when he was absolutely prepared to
