I think the stock R53 engine is great, and if your a competent mechanic, it’s no problem to maintain and modify, while retaining reliability. For me, the major appeal of this swap is 50% more displacement, and the tremendous aftermarket support for K engines.
@@minimanadam exactly. Just dropped a 8k sneedspeed engine into a customers car. All said and done he was right around 14k just in parts. Car is definitely quicker. But damn it's not worth the price to performance.
Adam s, I’ve tuned naturally aspirated k24’s that made over 300whp from somewhat simple builds. Stock k motors will hold 500+ whp with forced induction and a decent setup. I’d love to build a k swapped mini.

Thanx for making this video I learned a lot from you. Engine wise you practically answered most of my questions with this. Can you please also make a video on the 4 wheel differential work and parts needed to make it possible?
I have had a few minis in past few mods later in life I’ve now bought my first born her own all4 mini countryman. Now I want to get another for myself to crank on. But man finding one already built would be a gem 💎
Fantastic - on the next video, could you also just explain the extensions (aluminium) to the front crash bar. The only thing left that I need to move is the driving lights / indictors and the welded extensions look very good. Could you make and sell those? If there were flat plates, I could get them welded together and on to my crash bar locally, here at home. Great work / great project. Thanks.
Is there any possiblity of a version for the r56, this is a very impressive and well done video, but I would love to see one for the r56 with the newer body
Supercharging this would be dope, kinda of like an homeage to the R53. Not sure where you’d put an intercooler though. It’s also pretty cool that you retain the power steering setup; one of the best things about the Mini imo.
I want to K swap my 11 base cooper, but I'm only just starting to think about it.
