The one I rode to Richmond had a GM. I remember wondering why a train was making that noise like a bus engine. I noticed two old AEC Reliances in the West Bankstown Bus Service colours sitting in a front yard from the train back in 1990.
Wow just wow.. amazing to see the XPT still running especially as the UK is slowly getting rid of our HST 125 but here in Scotland we are holding strong with them still running services up and down the country due to a similar situation with the lines not being electrified completely yet.
Great video Steve. Looking now the station is all that's left. The old SM residence (where Goody lived, and I spent many a night there sleeping over when we were kids) is now gone. Loco and the maintenance yards, and the water tanks are all gone. What was once a hive of employment and activity is now very deserted.
Gobsmacked to see the HST125. Thought Australia got rid of them a couple of years ago? We have some 60 yr old Class 37's that are still being used! After years of chip, computer tech etc, good old engineering reigns! Loved the vid!
thankyou! Yes they are still in service, and personally I wish they would stay forever. In my opinion they are a handsome train, especially with the stainless steel cars.
Everyone wearing big winter coats while here in England at 20 degrees centigrade I am wearing at shirt! It’s going to be 18 degrees and wet this weekend. Got to love a British summer. 23 degrees is hot here in the north of England.
Good to see what was made here in Australia is still running strong
keep up the good work

they are a great train!
This set was in Junee in about 2022, sitting in front of the station.

I love the XPT. Sadly it will soon be replaced by something plastic and soulless....

The designer of the Class 43 HST, Sir Kenneth Grange has sadly passed this week
@@martinbalmforth2665 I heard that yeah. It was/is a great looking train.
I have family that lives cross from the train station in Taree and I still have family living in the Taree area

What music used at 9:01?
@@Lukas_Irwin hi mate. It is all the same track from the editing app. I think it’s called Jazz Hop Summer.
