Thanks so much for doing these videos! I happened across your book at the library and took it home. Knew right away I wanted more than 2 weeks with it so I bought it and love it. I couldnt quite grasp some of the concepts and these videos have cleared up everything! Your great!
I've spoken to people about this, and from I've been told it is possible to avoid heel strike during _running_ ....but not so while _walking,_ as avoiding heel striking requires a "flight phase" in your stride. And this flight phase is present when running, but not so when walking.
0:53: "Pick up your leg and point it forward". This is not how to achieve proper foot orientation. Foot orientation is a result of hip tilt, which again is a result of the balance between front and back leg muscles. Shoes with an incline, like the ones Dreyer is wearing, lead to the hip being tilted forward and the feet outward. It is not practical to overcome this by constantly thinking about leg orientation. But if one wears zero drop (flat) shoes then the hip tilt becomes natural and the feet automatically point straight forward.
Taiwan qigong master Zhan ruo shui has published 《健走功(Chi Walking)》, brisk walking is not required, but the palm to press slightly, toes to grip firmly , and stressed that the regulation of respiration.
Mr. Dreyer, how would you counter the opposite info put out by Dr. Justin Lin on correct walking? He claims that correct walking involves an erect torso and active hips. His RUclips video is entitled "Physical Therapist Shows How to Walk Correctly."
