Hi Matt I’m in the heating and air business in Wisconsin and work on roof top hvac units every day. Depending on direction, we some times have to install high wind kits on the exhaust of the unit. This allows the exhaust to blow straight up instead of having the wind blow into the exhaust hood while it’s trying to blow out. That causes the air flow proving switch to open shutting off the burner. There’s what I know and run into. Good luck.

Hey Matt, long time watcher, first time commenter. I build old Land Rovers and just a quick tip for remembering which bolts need to be checked: I always stick a piece of masking tape on or near anything that isn't torqued or needs to be checked. Super useful for me, because I can't remember anything. Love the channel my dude!

Tom has really brought an element of sophistication to the channel. All kidding aside, I still would like a walk-thru of Dig Dug, to see what Tom has already done, and what future plans he has for the truck. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL; YOU GUYS ALL ROCK!
TomTom is a great addition to the crew (loved his camp chef routine when rescuing the Nugget), but we do miss TREVOR. "Rrruuuuuuudyyyyyyy!" and we miss seeing Rudy here on * this * channel (though he has his own).
The wrecker builds of matts and fab rats, and the build up to the wrecker games, have been my favorite content on youtube so far. for real. Im loving this stuff!
Several months ago, apparently. They just didn't make a big deal about it, but back when they were giving Ed the Nugget one of the people made a comment about something being "a late wedding present for Lizzie" so it seems it was before then.
@Todd Russell he was at the Christmas party, cowboy fella with a big hat and Lizzie used to work for Matt when he was doing roofing which was quite a while ago now.
Note to Tom Tom; Every seatbelt mount i supposed to hold 1.9 tons of pulling force according to DOT, AND should be mounted directly to the vehicles body if possible, and not to a third party bracket. Anyways, thanks for yet another great video you guys!! Love the work, the atmosphere and the people on this channel!! Wish I was there!! Best regards from Norway!!
When they were building the Golden Nugget they had a donor Suzuki they used for the drive train and said they would build the donor for Lizzie. It hasn’t been mentioned for a long time. Maybe she wants something bigger now.
HVAC guy here. My guess is that when the wind is blowing your condensing unit is probably not expelling the cold air which is absorbed from the conditioned space and taken outside to the condensing unit and getting your pressures wonky and tripping some sort of safety. It could be many things though and no way of really knowing without actually being there and checking over the system properly.
nice glasses, and the refraction through them is real, so those are indeed real glasses, and great, those actually help a lot for any person that has bad eyesight, just one thing, you can see that they are sitting at an angle on your face, it is not a big issue for short time, but for a few hours, those can strain your eyes more than they should and you could get headaches, just try to get them straight on your face, and if it is the arms that are somewhat not straight, it is really easy, any shop that works with them can use a small special heatgun to heat the plastic a bit and bend it back to straight, or you can do it yourself, just remember, barely any heat, no need to melt it
You need to get wind guards installed on the outdoor units. It will block the wind from just passing through the condenser coil when the wind is howling.
Hi for the UK, love your channel and it's great to see you all working together while still having a laugh. My suggestion for the heavy wrecker is : MORRtHog , as in warthog, based on its overall size and shape and the curved hooks / teeth on the front.

I think 90% of the wrecker is made of welding rod..... have you kept track of the materials used to build it so far? Lizzy is the best, has improved so much welding since I started watching the channel. Gorgeous
Hi Matt, I'm a 20 yr commercial HVAC tech, look into "low ambient kits" from the manufacturer of your mini splits, they are basically a wind baffle you might be able to make them with some sheet metal from the picture . With your furnace it was probably the way the flu was installed. Hope that helps
Mini split systems use a heat pump. By design they extract heat from the air but that means part of them will get cold. If it’s really cold outside the condenser that sits outside will freeze up causing the unit to temporarily stop throwing heat until the outside unit unfreezes.
Something to check on wrecker. Those windows on the IH are not tempered glass. May want to add some tint or something to protect occupants. Also the front window was designed to "pop" out if you were thrown out of the vehicle, due to lack of seat belts. Also this assumed you weren't impaled by the non collapsible steering wheel. Glad you changed it.
Great video. So much progress. I guess we'll see it running, rolling and braking next week. I could see Matt much clearer, what happened? And seeing Lizzy back for more than just a sec is a joy. Looking forward to next week already!
Hey guys, just an idea for next time... the seat belt mount can be a "L" shape bracket mounted under and together with the seat on the floor. Saves time on building and avoid any structure damage on the seat frame when welding since not knowing the thickness of the frame metal.
Hey Matt, I've been working in the HVAC business for 36 years and there's a technical term for what's happening with your heat pumps. It's called a POLARgeist. Love your channel!

Hey Matt hope you got the heat fixed in the shop, I work in the HVAC field, a few simple things you can do is #1 check if the vent pipes are in the direction of the wind, if it is you can add an elbow pointing towards the ground to change the direction. #2 you can see if you can order a baffle for the unit itself #3 make sure everything is clean and not packed full of debris. Hope that helps! Awesome wrecker, awesome to see you guys fab this thing up!

Of all the MORR "series" you guys have done (including the Golden Nugget) this is my favourite. You guys have built a brand new, original vehicle from the ground up by trial and error. You have done what car companies spend billions of dollars and years of R&D to do and I can't wait to see it rolling... Matt: "Who knows? Nobody knows..." Tomtom: "I think Newton knew." Comedy gold... along with the subtle editing hilarity throughout. Your entire crew is running a tight ship Matt. I especially love the measuring challenge you put on Tomtom. He can't measure, you can't pronounce "measure" ;)
The heat pumps could be a freeze protection deal. Some of those newer mini-split style systems have that as an option. I'd definitely recommend a wind block for them for a couple reasons. 1; you don't want debris or dust being thrown into them, 2; the lower air temp is going to affect their efficiency and function. As for the gas furnace, I have no clue. That's a weird one!
Great progress on the wrecker at Lizzie's Off-Road Recovery! Glad to see you've kept Matt around, occasionally he's entertaining, and sometimes even useful! (P.S. - When are you going to get around to changing all the signage and merch?)
But it did it with a SHOP HEATER too so I am going with a NEGATIVE AIR PRESSURE and a wind block would help but its a heat pump or is it a MINI SPLIT? Looks like a mini split header to me
Matt, to your issue with possibly forgetting if you’ve torqued a bolt down or not. You should use torque stripe on bolts and nuts when you know you’re not removing it again. It’s an easy indicator that you don’t have to torque it or that torque may have been lost overtime! Love the channel!
Suggestion on the making sure everything is tight is to line mark all the bolts and fittings that you have tightened down as you tighten them. It gives you a way to quickly check bolts and hoses if something has move or if its coming loose. Paint marker is the best usually a white or pick bright color works the best. Not a new thing just comes from industrial standards.
Nice glasses Matt. Eventually you’ll have to get a pair of prescription safety glasses with side shields. Definitely was a sad day for me when I found out I needed them only to realize I could again see things I didn’t know I was missing. Welcome to the club!
I think that a parsec is a unit of distance AND that Han was right in the statement 'does the kessel run in 12 parsecs'. Here's how: The first and most basic question is, how can a unit of distance be an indicator of speed for a space-going vessel. The answer is fairly straightforward; the Kessel run most likely is in close proximity to an area of extreme gravitational pull, like a black hole or stellar nursery. To be able to traverse those areas requires a vessel fast enough to escape the gravity, and the closer you get to those gravity wells, the more speed you need. Saying "in 12 parsecs" means EXTREMELY close to those gravity wells (in astronomical terms), and would require an incredibly powerful ship to escape.
Always providing great content👍. Everyone's Wrecker Games training was funny but I was laughing super hard at Rory's part, that was hilarious. Thanks for the laughs and entertainment y'all
There is a setting in the thermostat that turns your heat pump off if the outside temperature reaches a certain point. You need to go in and adjust that number lower, so your system continues to operate correctly.
Hey Matt, this is six in a row jim again and I’m gonna make a recommendation that you put a couple of zinc rods in your radiator cause you got cast-iron block and aluminum radiator and that’ll help with corrosion. It’ll protect both the block and the radiators.
Your mini split could be shutting down if condenser fan is trying to run backwards or slow down due to the high winds. They have safeties built into them. Try to block wind from it see if it helps.

as a full time RUclips(watch)er, I have see Mini Splits installed in various locations and episodes of different builds. The common theme seems to be... THEY DONT WORK WELL.
@@larryfreeman7979 they actually work great if you use them correctly - kind of like any tool! :)
@@advancednutritioninc908 I have to agree they actually are incredibly reliable and can put out great heat as well as cooling. However most get installed wrong. I used to be a factory rep for Mitsubishi/Trane and if I went to 10 sites to do a start up 9 were installed wrong and I ended up leaving.
It lives! Glad to see Lizzy back on more and back to herself. She is a sweetheart and also a great part of the channel and a great welder. If I was to meet her on the street I would never guess her abilities. She is one amazing woman.
Hey Matt, long time watcher, first time commenter. I build old Land Rovers and just a quick tip for remembering which bolts need to be checked: I always stick a piece of masking tape on or near anything that isn't torqued or needs to be checked. It acts like a little flag to alert anyone working on it that something isn't complete. As a bonus you can make a note on the flag what needs to be done. Super useful for me, because I can't remember anything. Love the channel my dude!
Working on my 96 Disco, that's NOT a bad idea man. Service flags on bolts! Thanks!
Takes as long to mark it as it does to torque it.
A 49 minute episode? Oh boy what a Sunday treat! 😃
49 minutes and 10 seconds 😬
Yes 😊😊😊
Was just gonna say that. They can make em as long as they want as far as I'm concerned!
yeah because they are already testing her somewhere and maybe next episode will be the testing one
Most of us would love for them to be this long on each one of them. VGG does hour long ones all the time. And we be eating his video up. Tell Paul he need to make them long too.
I know it's a lot of extra work filming/editing, but darnit is it awesome to have the interjections from the other RUclipsrs or movie clips! Keep up the great work, I never thought I would completely switch from watching TV to your channel!
I even caught the
"The MORR You Know" graphic.
Must be Tucker's handy work.
I don't have a TV at all nor take newspapers or listen to radio news anymore. So instead I watch "happy Stuff on the net. I binge watched Matt Fab Rats Robbie Layton and all of their friends, to catch up, absolutely love it all. And I have to say it has totally changed my opinion of the U.S. Here in the U.K, I am in England, we only got all of the bad press the killings gangs, murders drugs racism etc etc, but seeing all of these guys and their families shocked me back to the reality of just how loving giving generous honest, kind and hardworking the better part of the population are. I have the perfect name for the wrecker, partly based on a previous video in which Matt wanted to incorporate the front firetruck warthog tusk looking recovery hooks into the name.

It’s nice to see Lizzie having fun again. She seemed rather sullen there for a bit. For one thing, we didn’t know that she got married! Happy for her!
Several months ago, apparently. They just didn't make a big deal about it, but back when they were giving Ed the Nugget one of the people made a comment about something being "a late wedding present for Lizzie" so it seems it was before then.
Glad she passed your standards Aunt Lavern.
I did not know that, I saw the rock a while back, congratulations to Lizzie and Husband ( I know he wears a big hat).
@Todd Russell he was at the Christmas party, cowboy fella with a big hat and Lizzie used to work for Matt when he was doing roofing which was quite a while ago now.
Nice too see Lizzie showing everyone up and being the hardest worker. Not too mention practicing at home by getting stuck and getting herself out!
Note to Tom Tom; Every seatbelt mount i supposed to hold 1.9 tons of pulling force according to DOT, AND should be mounted directly to the vehicles body if possible, and not to a third party bracket. After the largest off road wrecker is finally built we need to see some type of off road build for Lizzy she really is amazing 😊
I agree. She was impressive in the Mischief Maker
Lizzy is a star
When they were building the Golden Nugget they had a donor Suzuki they used for the drive train and said they would build the donor for Lizzie. It hasn’t been mentioned for a long time. Maybe she wants something bigger now.
trying to get Matt a divorce?
She’s just a girl doing average guy things… your bigotry of low expectations is showing lol
I bet you the outdoor unit is on the roof putting it in the highest possible wind

Yes whoever edited this video is good at their job, and put in a lot of work too with a 50 minute video
nice glasses, and the refraction through them is real, so those are indeed real glasses, and great, those actually help a lot for any person that has bad eyesight, just one thing, you can see that they are sitting at an angle on your face, it is not a big issue for short time, but for a few hours, those can strain your eyes more than they should and you could get headaches, just try to get them straight on your face, and if it is the arms that are somewhat not straight, it is really easy, any shop that works with them can use a small special heatgun to heat the plastic a bit and bend it back to straight, or you can do it yourself, just remember, barely any heat, no need to melt it
You need to get wind guards installed on the outdoor units.
I think it looks more like a Puma

Big Tow is definitely the funniest name of the bunch. I'm picturing BIG TOW on the windshield just like the banana. I love it. Great work everyone!

Wrecker push ups LoL
Yeah... what would you call what Rory was doing? "Hoist-ups?" "Winch-ups?" "Haul-ups?"
Just curious...
Everyone’s preparations for the wrecker event is priceless! Rory is hilarious 🤣 and Merlin truly takes his training seriously. Love it!!! Only thing missing was the theme music from “Rocky”.

Great RUclips listing! Hope to meet each one.
I'm amazed by Rory's abs... And Matt's pedicure. Good to hear the Wrecker purr like a big mountain lion !
It took EVERY adult fiber in Matt's body to contain his inner child from driving this thing without brakes.
Mini split systems use a heat pump. By design they extract heat from the air but that means part of them will get cold. If it’s really cold outside the condenser that sits outside will freeze up causing the unit to temporarily stop throwing heat until the outside unit unfreezes.
Shouldn't the heat strip kick in. And maybe he should move the outside unit and the thermostat.
The big tow
@@tlak Good question. Perhaps the heat strip isn't working for some reason.
He said the same thing happend to his oil heater, sounds like wiring problem with the thermostat to me?
Most heat pumps stop at -4 celius.
I'm glad u used the word braking instead of breaking lol
Hey guys, just an idea for next time... the seat belt mount can be a "L" shape bracket mounted under and together with the seat on the floor. Saves time on building and avoid any structure damage on the seat frame when welding since not knowing the thickness of the frame metal.
Hey Matt, I've been working in the HVAC business for 36 years and there's a technical term for what's happening with your heat pumps. It's called a POLARgeist. Love your channel!
that sounds made up. google comes back with nothing
We use them in Maine and only have issues 20-30 below. Then alternative heating come in play.
Matt's big toe. & kick it
Very helpful...
Seems like a thermostat issue or the wind make a high pressure in the garage 🤷
looking forward to the wrecker challenge. how about a white board chart or spreadsheet that compares the 5 rigs. categories like engine, HP, final gear ratio, weight, number of man-hours in the build, total number of mt. dew consumed during build, percentage of those that are stolen...
I have really enjoyed the videos over the last year or so, but the banter between Matt, Tom, and Lizzie in this one was the best. I think Tom’s addition to the crew has added a new dimension to the chemistry.
Oh, and congrats on not running the World’s Largest Wrecker through the shop walk…

Nice to see more Lizzie she fits in well and Matt trusts her with most things!! Know how he feels having to wear glasses!! I feel ya Matt.
Poor Tom-Tom this will teach him to leave town and good luck with the bird house, I wish him all my best wishes on the bird house. Congratulations on the wrecker and the progress so far. ❤❤❤.
Nobody knows..."
Tomtom: "I think Newton knew."
Comedy gold... along with the subtle editing hilarity throughout. Your entire crew is running a tight ship Matt.
I especially love the measuring challenge you put on Tomtom. He can't measure, you can't pronounce "measure" ;)
Does this mean TomTom can't use CAD (Cardboard Aided Design)? That's my favorite (and use it meself)
If the compressors that are outside are in direct wind they shut off. You may need a wind block.
Was just about to say that
If you just lean up a piece of plywood, it would already make a huge difference.
But it did it with a SHOP HEATER too so I am going with a NEGATIVE AIR PRESSURE and a wind block would help but its a heat pump or is it a MINI SPLIT? Looks like a mini split header to me
or the compressor froze up
@@CORNDODGER mini splits can be heat pumps.
Matt, to your issue with possibly forgetting if you’ve torqued a bolt down or not. You should use torque stripe on bolts and nuts when you know you’re not removing it again. It’s an easy indicator that you don’t have to torque it or that torque may have been lost overtime! Love the channel!
Rory's pushups are EPIC! No hand pushup is the hardest of them all :D
Loving the comedic value added here. Smiled whole way through the episode.
Crazy how far the channel has come in such a short time. Cool to see the old footage when you pulled the kid in the swather out.
Thats why glasses like that are called "Forty Fives".
At 45 years, most people need them...
I thought something was different about Matt in this video. Put on my glasses and now I see.
you guys should add a air ride system to your seats...so much more comfortable when bouncing down the road.
For whatever reason, this was an extraordinary amusing episode. Lots of smiles. At first I thought it was the lack of claw hammer but ruled that out.
45:29 This wrecker looks and sounds amazing. I still can’t get over the end result, considering all you guys started with was the cab.
Tom"s running commentary is awesome.
Lizzie is so cute....us Canadians love her......Happy Valentine’s Day Lizzie ❤️
The fact that Matt knew a parsec was a unit of distance not time made me happy
i think a parsec WILL be a unit of distance 😉
I think that a parsec is a unit of distance AND that Han was right in the statement 'does the kessel run in 12 parsecs'. Here's how:
The first and most basic question is, how can a unit of distance be an indicator of speed for a space-going vessel.
But how many rack units are in a parsec?

Congratulations on making this far. It's been fun watching this build from the beginning.
You need to go in and adjust that number lower, so your system continues to operate correctly.
that t4 does not have outdoir temp sensor to set heat pump lockout
It's probably doing a thaw cycle (temporary A/C mode) - heat pumps do this so the coil doesn't freeze up when it's near or under freezing outside
Matt is the "eyecrometer" and TomTom is the "micrometer" 😂
We watch every episode...
I like to call it My-crometer as in please don't touch that it's mine.
Hey Matt, this is six in a row jim again and I’m gonna make a recommendation that you put a couple of zinc rods in your radiator cause you got cast-iron block and aluminum radiator and that’ll help with corrosion. It’ll protect both the block and the radiators.
Like marine engine and radiator Zinc Anodes.
Your mini split could be shutting down if condenser fan is trying to run backwards or slow down due to the high winds. They have safeties built into them. Try to block wind from it see if it helps.
yeah I didn't know about fan, but I think some fabbed up wind screens might help.. I wonder if they know anyone who can fab something like that up.
@@fordcougar99 I doubt they know any fabricators at all.

you should use a marker to mark the bolts after you tighten them can't wait to see it in action
You going to have to build a bracket, that stays with the frame. All the shifters will lock onto the bracket and become a section of the floor when you set the cab on. Then it will expedite cab removal.
