      Most extremely high level musicians tend to be pretty humble. It's because in order to get to that level, you have to be EXTREMELY critical of your own playing so you can iron out every single imperfection and constantly get better. You get used to hearing all of your own mistakes. Musicians at that level are never satisfied with their own level of playing and are always striving to get better. Getting good at an instrument is an incredibly humbling experience.

      @@Ciruelatron yeah so essentially Matteo in a nutshell is it seems like he studied classical guitar for like a week and then said fuck it I want an electric but never actually studied picking (or classical for that matter) ever again😂 all the classical guys (as well as flamenco) have the finger chops he does. Leagues above tbh but he just has his own style that’s incredible and obviously came from barely learning classical and then just going from there lmao

      @@destructiondecaydesirei like fingerpicking more bc there’s more tones in your thumb than with a pick like if you use the meaty part of your thumb you can get a real “dull” sound which can be good for bass notes and then you can use your nail to pluck or the boney side of your thumb and those will make a more sharp sound there’s just more options and variety with finger picking to me

      why? learning to play without a pick has always been a thing. a pick usually comes later. I've never learnt how to play with a pick and I started playing 30 years ago. The guy is absolutely brilliant, but he's not a pioneer because he doesn't use a pick

      Probably Paco DeLucia's hands can be compared to Matteo's, even if we're talking about two totally different styles and approaches...Paco too was a true master
