Oh God...if only I could help! But I just turned 68 and loathe the cold of KY. so things "ain't going so well on my end, but I wish ya'll total success and I'm there in Soul and spirit!!!
I am very appreciative for the video. I admire the idea of engaging in the community and bringing the public together, especially with the steam locomotive being a large center point. It’s wonderful to see another grand piece of the past being preserved and eventually returned to operation. Using RUclips and the internet to document and spread information on this endeavor is an absolutely ingenious idea, although it is nothing new, it is still a privilege to be able to see this. I don’t know what the future will bring, but I hope to carry out the same or a similar prospect in my area. Around here, tourism is nonexistent, and to be honest, we have nothing of notability besides being on Route 66. A semi-abandoned rail-line lays not far from the interstate, and would serve as a great point of attraction for the area... Getting back to 2716, I have been following this group for some time, and I am quite proud as well as enamored by their work and continuous determination towards this project. Hats off to you folks that make this happen. 👍
Thank you for putting this up, I volunteer for a small group called the Timber Heritage association in Eureka and we are in our beginnings out here on the coast getting our museum going. I love to watch others getting up and going.. thanks again Bill
Great Interview! I've been wondering about the progress of the 2716 and how close they are to operating it, from what's said it sounds like that day will be upon us soon!
6:02 that image is one of my favorites of the move because the smoke from the diesel makes it look like the locomotive has a fire in it and that there is smoke coming out of the stack
At the rate you are working, when do you think 2716 will be able to run under her own power again? Also, I herd that CSX is going to buy Pam Am Railways, if that happens, will you consider operating 2716 over that trackage. The only main line steam locomotive in that part of the country is Conway Scenic Railroad #7470 but i don't think it will ever leave its home rails. Seeing 2716 up in New England would be nice.
Oh my god! They announced that the Railroad Museum of New England invited Kentucky Steam to operate 2716 there when the restoration is done. They announced that about 3 years ago and you never got that news. Geez!
Its a shame the group has more or less completely shifted focus away from the locomotive towards their big "economic redevelopment" project; with the last publicly announced work completed on it being ..... well the firebox work in 2021. KSHC at this point is just hording locomotives both steam and diesel, and not doing a damn thing with them in terms of restoration. They are more than happy to announce "oh hey we just had a bunch of parts from the 1940s donated from a railroad" or "hey we just got another switcher" or "hey we got another grant to redevelop the land"... oh yeah and lets not forget "oh hey good news everyone we just signed an agreement for 2716 to run up in NEW ENGLAND on a short line for several years immediately after she's restored instead of letting her roam her home turf first." I donate funds to groups that are open and honest with their progress on the work with a locomotive in their custody..... KSHC hasnt shown they deserve so much as wooden nickel from me.
FYI, 2716’s restoration moves at the speed of donations. The more donations made, the more progress will be made. If you’re unable to donate, spread the word and tell others to donate to 2716 too. Team work makes dream work. Keep in mind, 2716 is a BIG engine. I don’t appreciate your attitude towards the hard working folks at Kentucky Steam.
@@chooch1764Wah wah Wah! That's all I hear from you. I could donate if I felt like it; but as I stated; "I prefer groups show that they are open and honest" about their progress and what the funds are being spent on. That policy has dictated how I've opened my wallet for over 20 years when a preservation group comes knocking with hat in hand. KSHC also has the problem that multiple former volunteers have stated here on RUclips and on the various rail forums that the group has severe mismanagement and improper spending of donations. Well... There are much more deserving groups out there.
@@HaddaCluThis group has a lot more potential than you think. Plus, they are in the process of receiving a $1.9 grant and a part of that will go towards 2716. I don’t believe in those rumors you’re trying to spread, because it’s not going to”your way”. I know this group will get 2716 back into service. Think before you speak.

So glad to have had the experience to volunteer with KSHCO up until Covid... after that I haven’t been able come back.

You Guys Should talk with Ross Rowland About Possibly Moving The 614 To Ravenna, So 2716 Can Reunite with her old Stablemate.

Thanks for the documentary on the group's process so far. It's amazing what KSHC has been able to do in such a short time. Keep up the awesome work.
Im glad 2716 is getting restored
Also Clinchfield 800 and NicklePlate 587
Thanks so much for coming out! Exciting things happening in Estill County and beyond!
Wish you and KSHC good luck with your future plans with 2716 and your other goals as well.
I can’t wait to see CSX say when do you want to run! It’s coming they have been warming up to preservation and I think it is because of you guys!
Great video! I was at Midway, KY when 2716 was there and that was an awesome day!
I’m here to watch my favorite RUclips channel
I'm going to work on SP&S 700, SP 4449, and OR&N 197.
I can’t wait for CSX to have this locomotive!
I believe 2716 belongs to Kentucky Steam Heritage Corporation.
@@evanstauffer44702716 is still owned by the Kentucky Railway Museum. Kentucky Steam is leasing 2716 from the museum.
Awesome video.
Amazing video great work!!
Pardon my lack of knowledge, but what are the pipes in the exposed firebox in the background?
Very nice done work :)
I love the CSX logo on the tender
I thought the Lima Locomotive Works built locomotives of that class and type, not ALCO.
I love train I am from Brazil

So its true. CSX really does own a Steam engine
False. Kentucky Railway Museum owns 2716. Kentucky Steam is leasing 2716 from the museum.
@@chooch1764 damn. What a shame
@@southernpennsyrailfan8579 Doesn’t really matter, because it will have a place run when the restoration is completed.
Will it be running soon
Make sure that ya'll get a proper road pilot on her!!! It'll make her even more handsome!!!
Nice vídeo!!

Thanks RUclips
Do They have the brass eagle it use to wear ?
Hey Jason how ya doin?
Yass!
How long is this project going to take?!!
More donations made, the sooner it runs.
If NKP 587 will be Running Again after 2716.
KSHC doesn't own 587
I’m just 25min away from 2716
what RR is KRM?
Kentucky railroad museum which is where 2716 was on display
Krm is there own company they run on L&N'S Lebanon branch witch from is only like 100 miles long end to end
Are they steaming number 2716.
Where will 2716 ever run on when under steam again?

Maybe CSX will lease the EK sub to ky steam for $1.
Another great line for 2716 to operate on!
