- The Northerner is a great beginners dive as it lies in only 15' of water just off shore from the Water Park. There is an abundance of fish and interesting artifacts to see.

Thanks for making this video. It's nice to see the zebra mussels haven't invaded it. I'm a new diver and this site would definitely interest me!
I hope more people realize the threat invasive can pose. I hope you're able to visit this wreck and enjoy it, G H
It’s in good condition considering how long it’s been down there
Thanks for sharing 💙👍🇦🇺🤿
The oil barrels were very interesting
Yes they were. The ship got hung up on a reef earlier in their trip and they ended up dumping hundreds overbaod in an attempt to float free. It worked but the damage was considerable both to the environment and the ship which eventually burned at the dock.
It was all very suspicious and the capt. Was relieved as a result. Folks suspected insurance fraud but it was never proven.
Hey thanks for sharing! My son and I are going to be in Ironwood, MI this spring so not too far away. A few years ago I mapped as many shallow shipwrecks as I could find yet I did not have this one.
We are in the works of getting our dry suit certification. Hopefully we get the dry suits at the end of April and then we can try a Lake Superior shore dive. We know we need to be properly skilled with buoyancy, so we are planning a few days at Gilbert, MN at the platform. We are only Master Divers and have done a majority of our diving in wet suits around the lakes of Minnesota and South Dakota.
If you're coming that early, a drysuit is highly recommended. I use a drysuit most months, but in the summer my daughter and I use wetsuits. At 13 I'm hesitant to get her into drysuit diving. She does live the sport. It's nice that you have family to dive with.
Let me know how you do 👍
Ever get them drysuits, @HikingXCSkiing?
thanks for sharing your dive
Thanks for watching, Sunqwest!
THANK YOU FOR sharing this video
Absolutely! Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
Really good condition considering how shallow and close to shore, great dive, nice scubapro reg
Love my Balanced Adjustable.
I was quite surprised at the condition of the wreck. Pleasantly surprised in fact.
That’s pretty cool you can dive it so close to shore! Do you ever find zebra mussels on the shipwrecks?
Thank goodness, no. There must not be a lot of boat traffic from the lower lakes in this area. We need to dive more the next time you're in the area.
@@DonFassbender Absolutely. It’s always a pleasure.
I love all the dives from everyone. Very interesting I’d say. Love the articles you pick up
Springtime is almost here!
Woohoo! Thank goodness, right Leann? Florida was great so I should be posting new material soon.
@@DonFassbender I would imagine you guys had a wonderful time. A warm breeze, seashells, fresh seafood, relaxing walks on the sand. How long were you in Florida?
@@leannkennedy6568 It was wonderful, Leann! Plenty of dives but only one day at the beach. Nina wanted to tour the university of Miami and so I had to arrange for that while were there. Perhaps in a few years I'll be going down to Florida more often??? We were there a little over a week. Not long enough :)
Hi this is Lydia John’s daughter we saw you yesterday
Hi Lydia, glad you found my channel. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas 🎄
Loved it but disappointed you didn't let me know you were coming!
Sorry Nancy, it was so last minute.
Good morning , Don , interesting dive , with all the fish . And you found a golf ball , like Jeremy would say it's not a dive , until you find a golf ball , lol .
It's an official dive 👍😆
Very interesting. Those fish watching you, wondering what kind of fish you are, where did you come from.
Almost as though they were someone's pet.
We dove this wreck back in the mid 80's. It looks pretty much the same. Great video, thanks!
Have we met? Are you from Marquette by chance?
@@DonFassbender No, I don't think so. From L'A originally. But familiar with the MQT area.
@@XYooper906 Are there any other good diving spots in L'Anse.I'd like to scope out the area some more.
@@DonFassbender Only ones I know of are the 3 near the Huron Islands.
@@XYooper906 I've not been able to find the Southwest but I've been to the Arctic and George Nester. I don't believe the numbers on the Preserves website are accurate. Do you dive anymore?
Did anyone die?
In the fire? No deaths were recorded. She burned at the dock under suspicious circumstances. The captain was relieved buy it doesn't appear that he was actually charged.
