- In this video we take look at how to get a snare drum in tune.
We look are the bottom (resonant) head, how to tune it and a suggested pitch. We go on to look at the top (batter) head and put it in a couple of tunings.
All this is done by ear, and is a quick and easy guide to follow.
We use my Tama Starphonic Aluminium Snare, and the video also has a quick look at the features of this great drum.

Nice! Rezo tuned to a G and off you go!🥁
Thanks for watching! Having gigged it a good amount I’ve tuned it slightly higher now and it really sings.
Beautiful drum
Thank you for sharing
Happy Drumming!!!
Thanks a lot! And thanks for watching
@@chrispidgeonmusician My pleasure! 😃 👍 👊
Hello. You dont need to put stick under the snare wires when tuning reso head on this snare . You can detach snare mechanism from one side and lift snare wires ( that is why bottom hoops are the way they are ) Read instructions . I didnt know either . Great snare from Tama!
Yeah but using the stick is one less step and I’m a bit lazy. Thanks for watching
@@chrispidgeonmusician Fair point :) Keep on drumming and cheers !
Not an easy snaredrum to tune. My experience.... 😊
I swapped the factory head for a coated ambassador and it has actually improved the drum considerably. Thanks for watching
@@chrispidgeonmusicianI can confirm that. Thank you! I appriciate your work! 👍
Yea, I have got 2 tama snares this year, the alu being one of them. The Evans heads just sound bad on them I think, Remo just sound better on them, more life.
