I understand you. I studied at the medical faculty of Kanazawa University as graduate student, Ph.D course after getting M.D. in my country. Interesting to talk with you.
Please don't overwork yourself. Don't worry if you upload less videos, we are happy to know that you'rea able to study and still get some rest. Take care!! Sending you virtual hugs!
Wow! how are you even alive?? I really love learning and practicing Japanese with your videos, so I'm thankful for all you've put out so far. I wish you the best of luck in your studies! See you in a little while!
Please do more videos about being a medical student in Japan! It sounds really interesting and would be cool to see what the differences are between Japan and other countries!!
In Mexico it depends on each university but usually it takes 6 years (can be 7) to become a general practitioner, 4-5 years of school, 1 year of internship in a hospital with 24-36 hour shifts and one year of social service during which you have to take and pass a licensing examination to get your medical license. And then you have to take an exam to have a chance to get into a medical speciality, it is only held once a year and people who don't pass or don't get a place in a medical speciality program have to take it again a year later. The med school were I studied makes sure students get real practice with real patients since the first semester which is great and is one of the reasons why I chose it, but many other schools don't offer opportunities for their students to get real practice until year 3 or later. The curriculum also depends on each school, my school focuses on basic sciences and clinical skills (taking a complete medical history correctly, writing medical notes, taking vitals signs, each part of a complete physical examination, interviewing skills, etc) the first 2 years and the last 2 years on clinical subjects with lectures, a especial class to analyse clinical cases, another class with real patients, seminars to analyse medical articles and rotations in different hospitals for each medical speciality the students are currently studying. Some people might take more than 5 years to complete med school because if they fail a subject or several subjects they have to take them again or repeat a semester, also public universities force their students to make their own schedule and sign up for the classes they will take each semester which is not ideal as there must be an order in the medical school curriculum so they take longer trying to pass all the necessary subjects to graduate (Private universities like my alma mater make the schedule for the students and ensure you study each subject in the correct order and following the medical curriculum from medical schools in the USA because it is certified by that country as well). Some schools are certified by the USA so many doctors choose to take the required exams to study their speciality there, many others decide to get their credentials verified by Spain (since the language is the same), they take just one exam and apply for a medical residency there. But what's certain is that no matter the country, medical students must study daily and during many hours.
hitoki is really amazing didnt know he went to med school but thats like the highest level of education, asian level, he is charismatic, nice and admire the work he's doing to transmit Japanese to people who are learning through this channel with very creativity, keep going man you are cool
I’m a 3rd year High School Student from the Philippines and I’m planning to study medicine but I’m doubting my ability to pass the entrance exam and the licensure exam but your videos motivates me, I’m currently studying Japanese and Mandarin and your videos are helpful btw I’m early
Quite the same in France ! We work at the hospital half time from the third to the 6th years of med studies. We also have a big exam at the end of the 6th year which determine depending on our rank the speciality and the town we go to. Wishing you the best for your upcoming exam !
I'm not a med student but I'm already mad 😂🤣. I have friends who took medical courses (nursing, medtech). I salute them and every other med students, you guys are courageous 💕
I study linguistics at university and since it's my first year, we aren't forced to study all that much. But regardless, most of my studying is outside the curriculum, and this video is motivating me to put my all into it.
Don't work yourself too hard ひとき先生! Thank you for another great and helpful video, good luck with your examinations 😁 I think you are the kind of person that makes other feel at ease, so I think you're going to make a wonderful doctor.
My dream is to study medicine an Japan and then work as a medical doctor there, this video motivates me a lot, I'm a high school student and studying English and Japanese. I'm gonna work hard every day to make this dream come true, thank you as always for your videos!
Tbh I wouldn’t have survived in such environments i cant study this much of information 😩 So the fact that you do this and RUclips is amazing! Good luckkk
ENG: I'm really proud of you! I hope you're doing well. I just wanna see you happy!!!! ESP: Estoy muy orgullosa de ti! Espero que estés bien. Solo quiero verte feliz!!!!
I'm not in med school, I'm in 2nd year vet school but I must say it's quite the same for us too. You have to study hard and get a bunch of work experience to get into vet. After that, 1st year was easy (foundation stuff like Chem, biochem, etc) and I was able to get high distinctions in all my subjects without trying too hard. 2nd year your workload basically triples and all the content gets so much harder. We learn all the anatomy and physiology, some neuro. We also have to complete 8 weeks in total of pre-clinical placements at farms to get livestock work experience as part of our degree (I literally just finished my 6th placement at a dairy farm where I had to get up at 4 every morning 💀💀💀). In these placements you basically do whatever the farmers want you to do, some farms are great and you learn heaps, but some just treat you as free labour. These 8 weeks must be completed outside of the uni semesters which means no holidays. From 3rd year onwards is where he'll begins and you lose all sanity. 3rd year you start learning pathology, clinical and surgical basics and you start going in to clinics as clinical placements, of which you must complete 14 weeks between 3rd and 4th year. 4th year onwards are trimesters (E semesters a year) you start rotations around the vet hospital, you finish up learning everything you need to know. 4th year at my vet school is basically 2 years of content crammed in to one so our degree isn't 6 years long (it's a big selling point). You also complete your DVM research project in this time. 5th year there are no lectures, you just rotate around the hospital, and do all your exams (ie surgical exams, everything you need to know to be qualified). I can also relate to putting on my coat and to get motivation to study 😂😂 And I ant believe you can do RUclips and study. I'm only working casually as a vet receptionist on the side and I'm already dying. Keep up the good work ☺️
Love the japanese humor! 😂❤ And thank you for making subtitles in japanese and English!!! So many learning channels fail to do that. Good luck with your med schooling! 頑張ってね。
Great vid! I'm also in med school and this is very relatable lol. In my country you basically have the first two years where you learn all of the principles of medicine ( anatomy, physiology, molecular biology, pharmacology, pathological anatomy and physiology and bio chemistry), then, the rest of the years are all pratical where you work in the hospitals every day, so the first two years are absolute hell, but then it gets better. Its really interesting to see the differences between countries.
I dont usually comment but..Omg hitoki san, I didn't know u study med! I used to be a med student but due to some circumstances, I had to stop my studies.(for now} Seeing this video brings me back!www It's very impressive to see how you balance your life n studies. Your videos hv been very useful too! Keep up good work!
As a high school student, the lessons are already too many and difficult 😞😩 There is an exam called "TUS" for medical students in Turkey and it is one of the most difficult exams in the world. Despite this, most of my relatives are studying medicine 😅 It's really hard to study medicine all over the world but I'm sure you will be a very good doctor Hitoki! We love watching you 💟 Let your work be easy!!! 👊🙏
I'm a med student in Algeria I have the same routine lol I'm curious about the practical side of med school in Japan. Can you make a video about it? In my country most practical classes were cancelled in the last 2 years because of COVID so we feel like we're really lacking. How was it for you guys?
That scene where you try to continue studying while going to toilet brought me some flashbacks! The dread of when you just had to cram hundreds of pages into your head over a very short period of time so you tried to optimize every second of your life... Some things are the same for medical students no matter where you are in the world. This May I'll be going on my first proper holiday as a doctor to finaly travel to Japan, which is my lifelong dream :) Wish you luck with your studies!
Gambatte! You can do it, no doubts! 👍👍 You are young and your brain is flexible. 😁 My brains were laughing watching all you have to learn for one exam, thinking "I wouldn't even remember one page. My, how old I am. " By the way, today in Spain there was a news that around 35 % of Medical students suffer of depression. But I am glad that you take it with humor. Love to watch you smile! 👍👍
Hi Onomappu! I really enjoyed your podcast with Miku RJ. Some points for reference: 4th year Japanese medical student is = 2nd year American medical student. First year here in Venezuela is the most hardest, second year is getting more easier but in 3 year you start to go to the hospital and classes too. Simply you have not time ,but right now im first year student and im finishing my other career too
A “fun” thing that happens is also that the deeper you go into medicine (or any other empirical science) the more superstitious you become, it goes so far that you will start praying to gods you haven’t even known before when you start a big experiment or before a bigger exam. You also actively avoid e.g. certain words/phrases during shifts (like “Sure is calm today.” especially in emergency medicine).
wоw you really put much effort on studying 😮
can somebody suggest more channels like this? i love watching onomappu, its great listening practise, any more channels like this one?
Interesting. A lot of memorization really seems to be a cornerstone of Japanese academics.
And of medical studies in general. I am from Europe and medical studies are more about learning too many things than t practice diagnosis and inductive/deductive reasoning. That’s not using your brains properly..😢
