      @@thv.hhb16 I think we can't convert it.. We deal with the intransitive verb. /Ship leaves/ The verb has no object. But maybe I'm wrong, as I'm not a native speaker.

      I got it, in relation to the transitive and intransitive verbs. They both (the transitive and passive voice) need an object because in the passive voice the action falls into the object, am I right?

      @@sharuk98ala other languages might say, you are the one to whom I talk. You can also say this in English but it's quite formal and old fashioned..modern English switches the preposition to the end of the sentence. I live in Spain and in Spanish we cannot end the sentence in a preposition either.

    the main reason I like your videos is that you have a great ability to present a hard topic in simple terms for example this video you just used one rule which is "be + past participle" and this is very simple and easy to use But all these years I have been learning voice from books where they used lots of rule that is why i could not able to understand this topic. thank you for your videos.God bless you .

    Your video is very well done. I would add the following: Passive Voice occurs when the active sentence contains a TRANSITIVE VERBS, these verbs admit OBJECTS. Ex: I gave alms to the beggar. While in sentences with INTRANSITIVE VERBS you cannot put the sentence into passive voice. Example: Birds fly.

    2) She emphasises on highlighting the passive structures used in the newspaper.
    3) Comments on these youtube videos have been written by people commonly known as students.
    4) Different countries are being represented by these candidates.
    5) We were being helped by that video.

    Her first example to explain why we use the passive structure was amazing. It's the sort of example that show how media outlets can change the essence of an act or happening. I personal think it is so important to be critic in the life, includind when we are learning other langue. Hence I really loved her example!!

    There's an error @4:11 - It should be "A million pounds was donated", not "were donated". Specific values of money/currency are an exception when it comes to verb agreement, and are always treated as singular. You can use the plural verb if the amount is vague/non-specific, such as "Millions of pounds were donated".

      I agree. Btw, just wanted to say thank you for your videos and tell you that I have been encouraging my students to watch them and follow you here on RUclips. I work in a language program here in Australia with students from various countries, many of them being refugees. Some of them have not had that many opportunities to study and develop their language skills, so having access to well produced and easy to follow content like yours is a great way for them to overcome that barrier.
