Omg. This is the series I need right now. I'm a sole designer at a tech startup. Just started at the beginning of the year and trying to wrangle the design system on top of everything else. There's so much to think about, and where to even start has been the question keeping me up at night. Thankfully just brought on a full-time web developer, so between the two of us hopefully we can make it happen!
@@charlimarieTV So useful! Especially seeing how you've organized your Figma docs/documentation and in which order you're tackling elements. It's actually similar to how I've approached our system thus far, so that's validating. For site 2.0 will you still be using Webflow?
Please please please!! more content around Marketing design systems. You are literally the only person on the internet that talks about it! Thank you so much!
More to come I promise! In the mean time, check out my interview with Zendesk on the Inside Marketing Design channel. They are Marketing design system goals!!!
So jealous. I am a team of one working on our website. Being the designer, developer and the person who has to work the client makes it hard to feel like you do anything well. Both hats require so much skill. It's nice to see a team with each of their specialties and able to give it the focus it needs. You can feel proud of the product you build.
I can't tell you what good timing this series is for me! I just started a new position at a startup this week, and I'm in charge of building a design system and helping a team work within it. I super duper appreciate you and your team sharing your challenges and what's working for you guys. Looking forward to this series!
I am absolutely in the process of establishing even the very first beginnings of a design system for our marketing material - so this is very timely! We are also looking to do major web updates and do exactly as you said: align between design & dev, speak the same language and create efficiencies and a better workflow. A lot exists, so I've already started to gather and organize all of the elements and components but still lots to do and decisions to be made with the team. Excited to keep working on it though!
My team is in the process of moving from Sketch to Figma so I'm so excited for this new series! I think the trickiest part of moving our design system over to Figma has been figuring out "nested" libraries. We work on multiple products but we have a main library with our components and "sub-libraries" that pull in the components but change colors.
Love this! Just what I've been looking for. We're also a small team (in the nonprofit space, so we all wear many hats) and I've been struggling with exactly how to tackle our design system....so excited to follow along with this series!
yay! Proud to be here representing small teams. soooo much design system content is about teams dedicated to working on the design system, which makes it a little unrealistic for us small team folks 😅
20/06 i'll start working on a design system in a new company, i'm very hyped. but i'm on the opposite side of the spectrum, i'm a dev hahaha. trying to gather the most amount of knowledge from everything design system related so i can start with a good base. thx for the video as always!
Does auto layout make usage of the spacing component difficult? I imagine you don't use the spacing component for everything... when do you actually use it?
hello girl, I want to make a site (initial and 4 more categories from those four categories, each has two more subcategories) and search. what do i need please start from the beginning (program, what files do i create, where do i write). if you have such videos please redirect and give me an answer. I want to learn but there is no one to explain it to me. thanks

I'm in the same boat! Never had to do a design system before lol

We an incredible start, this series is going to be epic!
Excited for this series and can’t wait to see all that you and the team accomplish!

yaaaaay for making the move!
Very excited for this! I've been slowly building a design system for my own sites and I'm really looking forward to nerding out watching these!
"slowly" describes our approach so far too haha. looking forward to speeding things up a little now though
Ooooo. Now this will be fun. Excited for this series! Love this first look at the goals and how you intend to achieve them. 🤓
Yay! Thank you!
Plus I also recommend you using Atomic Design methodology to build scalable design systems, it have had a huge improvement in my workflow
Super excited for this series !! looking forward to the next videos
yay! :)

Love this idea, thanks for sharing! I'm also on a small team of designers so this is very relatable.
Amazing. I am looking to work on a design system. I like the idea of building as you go o.
Love this! Esspecially the developer insight! As a developer/ designer this really helps!
It’s going to be really useful having Cory pop in for these videos!

Thank you I was waiting for this
Hope it was worth waiting for!
Thanks for sharing, could you post the link for the spacers file ?
Just added it to the description! Thanks for the reminder
@@charlimarieTV Thanks !
Where's the rest of the series!?!?! 😉❤️
Planning an update! Things haven’t been moving very quickly with the project 😅
