    Fantastic, I was ready to get rid of Sky, everything was ok when I had Sky broadband, as soon as I changed, everything goes wrong. I had tried everything, hard wired the Sky a box in, but the mini’s some how managed to switch my network setting back to Wi-Fi. Luckily, had a booster, the same as you, originally, caused all sorts of problems with locking up, had to switch it off. I’ve just set my system up, using your method, and it’s all working, on the 5ghz mesh.
    Thanks for a fantastic video.
    Cheers.

    Great video ! I got Sky Q when first released - they plugged the booster at that time into the Sky mini box which didn’t make sense to me - at time I had BT Internet then went to Sky so didn’t need booster - changed back again recently and set up as per this video and the mesh is purring ! 😂

      @@Griffomedia yes! One of the boxes sometimes takes 20 seconds to connect but I don’t have to keep resetting it. Thanks I now have a separate sky network throughout the house (it definitely acts as a mesh)

    I did this with a newer booster, the main sky box could not hold a connection to the BT hub for more than about a minute. The router was only about 15 feet away from the main sky Q box. with no walls, although, there was a cordless phone near the router so I'm not sure if that was interfering with the 2.GHz Two calls to sky and we couldn't resolve it. This works, it was in a large house with 4 TV's and 3 boosters. Thanks.

    If you connect via ethernet, you don't need to press the WPS button do you?

    Hi I followed your instructions, after a while the sky mini automatically connects back to my wireless router and doesn't show that its connected to the SKY network.

    No they are connected wirelessly. I have tapped into the Ethernet socket on the main Sky box to plug in my Cambridge Audio streamer for internet access. I have also tapped into a mini box via the Ethernet socket to gain internet access for another streamer. Most of the time everything works ok. The main box went missing when I was watching the Champions League final the other day in the kitchen on the Mini box.

    Also my grandparents have 2 minis and they keep dropping out! They had the booster put in and it’s still dropping out. They’re having to turn boxes off at the wall every other day and sometimes that still don’t work.

    So, after you pair your closest mini box(your kitchen) when you go to your daughters room and press the button, do you need to then go back to the booster box and press it agin for each box?

    Great video, I have connected my sky booster to router by cable. But I don't need to do that to get my skyq boxes working, I want to improve the wifi signal as have poor wifi in a couple of rooms. Does the sky booster connected by lan cable to router improve normal wifi or does it only improve the sky q mesh wifi which I think only helps the q boxes communicate and does not work with other devices.

    Ok. In the room that I have the sky q mini I have a router that’s connected (long Ethernet) to the main router downstairs. But the sky q mini only connects to the downstairs router, which is the same router that the main q box is connected to. Is there a way to get it to connect to the router in my room for better service.

    I followed your example exactly. We have BT broadband, and I am ready to take a hammer to these mini boxes. Had sky out, they didnt have a clue. Our booster keeps showing the BT router, we have reset and it still doesnt show as Sky. even following your example. Gutted, as it appears to have worked for everyone else. Looks like I will have to cancel sky and find an alternate provider.

      Same issue with mine, Sky originally installed the booster after bad mini box connections with the main box, I moved the mini box upstairs for a few days and then back downstairs and its no longer connected to the booster anymore, it just connects to BT, I've put our BT home hub into client mode and we now use a ubuiquiti access point which is more powerful than the home hub and it "appears" to be ok, however both the main Q box and the mini Q box have never showed SKY as a connection yet doing a wifi scan on a phone app shows both BT and SKY. The video shows that the booster has to be wired to the router, Sky never did this with my installation so i was under the impression that i had to connect the booster to the main Q box over wifi and then connect the booster to the Q mini over wifi, i never got this working. So the question is how did Sky get it working originally? who knows? But i was like you, ready to rip the whole things out and just stick with Netflix, Apple TV and my Plex server

    Hi there
    I have got similar location problems to yourself my main Sky box is well away from my router. I have two mini boxes and a booster. Everything is Sky including the router and the broadband. Should I just plug my booster into my router and follow the process that you described. My TV in the kitchen often says lost connection to your sky Q box.
    Many thanks

    Hi wonder if you can help me. I have the main box and x1 mini box. I can hard wire the main box so what I've tried is hard wiring the main box then I manually find WiFi networks on the mini box and put in details from main router but it isn't a great connection. I've tried WPS main box and mini box but fail to get a connection on the mini box, any ideas? Thanks

    Quick question as having similar nightmares. You seem to be the only reference I can find with same problem.
    Router & Booster box is in upstairs bedroom. I have a mini box in there. Also a minbox downstairs in living room. Main 2TB Sky Q in second upstairs bedroom.
    I reset the sky booster then WPS to nearest minibox. Question is do I need to press WPS again to connect to 2nd minibox to add that to the new mesh?

  • @F1M4TT
    @F1M4TT Месяц назад

    Adding the mini box to none rather than eco will mess up your tv guide, the box is designed to reset every morning around 3am to refresh the tv guide for the following day.
    Oh and if you don’t have ALL boxes on the same ie eco then it makes no difference

  • @F1M4TT
    @F1M4TT Месяц назад

    Hate to correct you, but you aren’t creating a 5ghz sky connection. Or even a 5ghz mesh network.
    All you are doing is adding another node to the system.
    If you are having connectivity issues with third party broadband then it’ll be channel plan related with your router.
    Just change the channel plan in the router so the 5ghz doesn’t sit between channel 36 - 48.
    And disable any smart settings.
