I am a 10 year old Japanese drummer, Yoyoka.
We went to Los Angeles from January 15 to 21, 2020 and to Idaho from January 21 to January 26, 2020! It was a very fun trip.

《ドラマー“よよか”プロフィール》
2009年10月生まれ。2歳からドラムを始め、4歳からライブ活動を開始し、5歳で家族バンド「かねあいよよか」を結成。幼稚園在籍中の6歳で1stCDを発売する。
ドラムのみならず、作詞作曲、ボーカル、ピアノも担当。
2018年、世界的な女性ドラマーのコンテスト『Hit Like A Girl』の18歳以下の部にて、最年少の8歳でウイークリーチャンピオンとなる。Led Zeppelinの『Good Times Bad Times』をカヴァー演奏した応募動画が、アメリカのNBC、NPR、ローリングストーン誌やビルボードで特集され、世界中に拡散。
Led Zeppelinのロバート・プラント、Red Hot Chili Peppersのチャド・スミス、シェリル・クロウ、KISSのジーンシモンズやエリック・シンガー、Sonic Youthのキム・ゴードン、Paramoreのヘイリー、サス・ジョーダン、トニー・ロイスターJr.などから称賛される。
国内でも、矢野顕子、佐藤竹善、ハマ・オカモト、亀田誠治、ピエール中野、LOUDNESSの二井原実らも驚きとともにSNSでよよかを紹介。
2018年は『RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL in EZO』に史上最年少出演を果たし、オリジナル曲のほかChar、奥田民生などをゲストに迎え、Led Zeppelinの『Good Times Bad Times』を演奏。
2019年には『サマーソニック東京』でマウンテンステージのトリ、Fall Out Boyのステージにサプライズ登場。彼らと共演し2万人の観客を沸かせた。
また、シンディ・ローパーからオファーを受け、日本ツアーの最終日、東京オーチャードホールでの公演でゲストドラマーとして2曲演奏し、シンディと共演を果たす。
国内でも2019年、亀田誠治主催の『日比谷音楽祭』に出演。ゴダイゴ、JUJU、KREVA、Reiらと共演。他にも「MUSIC FAIR」「TBS音楽の日」「題名のない音楽会」などに出演し三浦大知、倖田來未、大黒摩季、サンプラザ中野くん、ROLLY、本田雅人など多くのアーティストと共演を果たしす。
また、Nike、Moncler、UNIQLOなど世界的ブランドのCMに抜擢。撮影はタイやニューヨークでも行われ、世界中から大きな反響を得る。
2019年は1月と5月にロサンゼルスにて収録される『The Ellen Show（エレンの部屋）』に日本人としては異例となる2度の出演を果たし、Foo Fightersのデイヴ・グロールからもビデオコメントで賞賛を受けた。また、ロサンゼルスの老舗ライブハウス「Whisky A Go Go」にて海外初ライブを大盛況で終える。
2019年4月には、Newsweek日本版「世界が尊敬する日本人100人」に史上最年少で選出。
８歳でドラムメーカーのPearl、VIC FIRTHと史上世界最年少エンドース契約し、Zildjian、CYMPAD、DWともエンドース契約。
2020年にロサンゼルスで開催された世界最大の楽器ショー”NAMM Show”のPearlブースにて、最年少、女性、日本人唯一のドラマーとしてパフォーマンス。
"Yoyoka"の衝撃は今も世界へ広がり続けている。
好きなドラマーはジョン・ボーナム、クリス・コールマン、ネイト・スミス、チャド・スミス、デイヴ・グロール、山木秀夫など。
夢は、世界を回って世界中の人たちとセッションをすること。近い夢は、東京オリンピックで演奏すること。

Please excuse the rude nature of the people you encountered while walking about... there is a small portion of very good people here in the States but mostly the rest of the population think and care only of their own well being. I do hope you found at least one good meal... the fastfood is not only mostly flavorless and of poor texture. Most of all, I pray you had a good learning experience and had fun. Personally I believe that you have more talent and joy for the craft in your little pinky toe than the whole lot of the drummers you encountered!

We would not have Yoyoka without the hard work and guidance of her very talented family.
And their financial commitment. I noted right away in the first video I ever saw of her that her drum set was high quality.

I grew up on that beach in Santa Monica. Spent a total of 14 years between Malibu & Venice beaches. Used to jump off the SM pier and swim a mile or so up the beach, and did a lot of diving & body-surfing too. I've often wondered what it is like today, and it's funny that I find out about it from you, Yoyoka. Moreover, I lived in Sapporo, Hokkaido, for 10 years as well & could understand most of what you guys were talking about in Japanese. That added a little bit more to the very fun video. Thank you! It's always fun watching a virtuoso like Yoyoka taking the drum kits for a spin. She makes it look so effortless but you can tell that she was little worn out from the jet lag. Flying from Asia to the US is always the toughest getting adjusted to the time difference.
Carmine Appice is a drumming god. Take notes, Yoyoka...translate them later. That man is your living link to Buddy Rich. That was a huge moment for Yoyoka's development and some day she will look back on it as such.
Similar to what I was thinking, Carmine is one of the drumming gods.

Seeing yoyoka wiyh her adorable little smile is so bitter sweet bc she looks spot on like my estranged daughter did at her age. She was so cute and funny just like yoyoka and i actually tried to teach her drums back then too. Its been 4 years since ive seen her.
