He did this whole album without their money and was one of the first getting major radio airplay without them. Just with ONE song. But hey, you people know everything in life, right? What would the population know without you?

Not many realize that Ted was already a stage veteran when Hendrix made his mark. I'm sure there was knowledge of each other back in the early 60's but Hendrix wasn't a household name yet either. To say inspired by Hendrix would be a stretch. They both were wild on stage as they progressed. But they came through the ranks together their whole career. Doubt they had much interaction for it to be an inspiration or influence.

Yes, Krizz, Uncle Ted IS political. You may or may not agree with him, but he has never changed. He is intelligent, outspoken, and lacking much of a filter. He is a conservationist, philanthropist, and advocate for 'clean' living.
He has been playing music professionally since about the age of 12. In his mid 70s and clean and sober the whole time. That does not mean he is not wild. The nick-name "Motor City Madman" was earned. "I would like to thank my middle finger for always sticking up for me." This song was a 'middle finger' to the record company for going against him.

Many years ago, I took my then 8 year old son to a book signing (his cookbook titled "Kill It and Grill It"). It was in the midafternoon and nobody was there. Ted spent 30 minutes talking to my son, asking about his interests, how school was going for him, about his favorite tv shows and movies, his favorite sports, etc.
I took a few photos of them and my son still has those photos framed and hanging in the home office of his own house.

This was from Ted's first solo album and it was great. Most of the vocals were by rhythm guitarist Derek St. Holmes. The second album included all of the members of this band, but several vocals on the second album, "Free for All" were by the late, great Meatloaf! Ted's concerts were amazing, and incredibly LOUD! He used to perform with 8 Fender Twin amps, and 8 Dual Showman cabinets (8 x 85 watts, 16 x 12" and 16 x 15" speakers!) In the late 70s, he was banned from ever playing outdoor concerts in Kansas City! Ted was doing a show in Detroit and, on stage, he asked his bass player to give him a riff. The bass player started that bass run and Ted improvised over that and Stranglehold was born.

Nugent's first band was called The Amboy Dukes. 1968 they released an album called Journey To The Center Of The Mind. One side of the album had 6 or 7 songs, but they were played as 1 song meaning no breaks between songs. It is pretty trippy and does tell a story that takes you along on the journey like an acid trip however, contrary to his look at the tome and the music that he wrote and performed, Ted hated drugs and alcohol. He always said that he didn't need them because his music kept him living on adrenaline. He wrote the music, plays lead guitar and is primary vocals.

Ted played in the { Amboy Dukes } in 1968, and wrote the mind blowing classic " Journey to the center of your mind " This album is when he left the Amboy Dukes, as he went off to create his solo career. This is his very 1st album, as a solo act. Ted has been around for sure with many albums and concerts to his credit.

Ted Nugent founded and played in the Amboy Dukes, who were an opening act for Jimi Hendrix. They were contemporaries and did some jamming together. Ted told Jimi he was going to die if he kept on with drugs and alcohol. The Amboy Dukes has some brief success before morphing into the backing band for Ted Nugent. This song came out in 1975 on the debut album. We wore this 8-track out blasting out the car windows when it came out. He was a big stadium rock festival act at the time. Thanks for the memories.

It's cool to me how you know him as a Patriot before knowing he was a musician. When I was young I went to my uncle's house who was learning to hunt with bow and arrow., as he felt a gun was too easy. He had a stack of Ted How-To videos. I said to him "I didn't know you liked Ted Nugent" He knew I didn't hunt and asked "how do you know him" I said he's the Motor City Madman! He rocks! I grabbed a cassette from my car and he was floored. Haha.

I am really enjoying watching your journey into music and revisiting all the greats in music and learning more about the bands and just getting a new appreciation for them. And, honestly we couldn't listen to rock in our household either. However, I got exposed to more than you probably did. And, I was quite frankly a lover of country when country wasn't cool. I see your intelligence with music and love of music, & meanings.

I’ve actually got something you should definitely react to if you haven’t before! You’ll absolutely love the beat, it’s called money and it’s by Pink Floyd. The beat is absolutely amazing and the way it transitions into it is awesome, it’s a good way to kind of see how everything around you can be turned into a song in a way.
