The divorce laws in this country are messed up IMO. When a marriage ends the property and assets should be divided and that should be the end of it. Divorce should never turn into high-level welfare no matter how much money the other spouse makes. One of the benefits of being married is combining your assets. When the marriage ends it makes zero sense to continue to treat the marriage as if it still exists.
Mike's a hell of a storyteller. It was a stroke of genius to begin the story by talking about a man alone in a room writing down 4 names on a piece of paper....And then cutting to darkness. I definitely respect his skills.
Damn he was getting $6K a month and living in an extended stay hotel? He could've just moved on, taken her money, and lived his life. But seriously, this case is awful, so many innocent lives lost or damaged by a very depraved and abusive man. Psychiatric drugs are devastating. IT feels like punishment because the drugs actually damage you. Some people become permanently crippled by them - practically life ending. At best that psychiatrist was one of the good natured but idiotic ones who believe they are helping. He is no saint.
Thats the more comprehensive perspective of this sad situation. He was actually correct about some things to do with psychiatric treatment. The drugs take your whole life away if you let them - and if they force you for long periods of time then thats not even in your power. The shrink of course gets the sympathy because most people think everything is just as it should be in that profession. But NO it is far from how it should be- Psychiatric patients suffer *intensely* due to the drugs themselves.

It’s mind numbing to think that a psych hospital can just say “ok he is good , let him go”. WTF.??? These crazy people need to be checked on. Great work Mike! See you next year!!
It's a catch and release system. Usually people come in there in some kind of advanced state like mania, psychosis, or suicidal. The hospitals only care to get them even and "normal" enough to pass for ok in society but not before charging insane prices and setting them up with the latest hot script. That's it. Bye bye. Enjoy the $8,000 medical debt.
(I assume not all situations are like this but in the case of my brother, it was) as long as you know the current president and what year it is, they declare you "sane" and "competent" enough to live in society. they did this with my brother who's been to different mental facilities in our area. let him go every time, no matter how apparent it is he needs help with his mania and psychosis. he's still walking free, occasionally having episodes every now and then, went as far as to actually try and hit me with his car and kill me. It's scary that things like this aren't taken seriously until it's way too late.
The problem is, what are they suppose to do? You have a manic episode and now you’re locked up? You’re depressed and suicidal, now you have no free will? If you’re not currently a risk to yourself or others, by law, hospitals can’t hold you if you want to leave. It’s like people who use hospitals for their yearly check up. Hospitals are not meant for that. Your general doctor is. These hospitals are mean for extreme cases, and then once your not a risk, you continue treatment with a psychiatrist and therapist. The problem is, most people don’t do that. This isn’t even a US issue like one person said. Reignbot recently did a video in a German man who crashed a planes on purpose. He was known to be depressed and suicidal by healthcare workers. So many people, including reignbot, said why was he still allowed to work. So just because you’re depressed and/ or suicidal, means you don’t get to work anymore? Have you ever been depressed or suicidal before? Taking away the last thing you have is not smart. Mental issues are hard. Where do we draw the line that you’re not fit for society? When do we decide they are fit for society? Is one manic episode enough to strip you of your rights? Is being depressed enough to do it? Right now the system is, if you’re not a direct threat, you go down a non mandatory route that most people choose not to do. They stop taking their meds because they feel good and then something happens. This is not black and white. The solution is not easy. The solutions of keep them all locked up is not realistic. So many people will be locked up for no reason with no way to leave who don’t need to be there. It will cost millions of dollars to do this. It’s not a good system. What is a good system? I don’t know. The system we have leaves to much responsibility to the mentally ill, most of the proposed solutions strip all rights from someone depressed, bi polar, bpd, all the way to schizophrenics, which is just fucked up in my opinion.
If I understand it correctly personality disorder is not a mental illness, that locks people in the psych hospitals. Unfortunately. So people with personality disorders often end up in prisons or dead.

Ok so he abuses his wife and son, making all kinds of death threats and unsubstantiated, bizarre accusations and when his wife leaves him, he is then awarded 6000/month which she was paying for like ten years? So he lives in a hotel room and begins to stockpile weapons and stews on how he is going to get revenge on his ex wife who has been supporting him financially for years and years because he could not hold onto a job? So his intended victim financed her own potential murder? Geez something just feels so completely wrong with this picture. Seems like there were failures by just about everyone that was involved with this case and it’s so sad that so many innocent people were murdered and/or deeply effected by him.

This is another example of how important mental healthcare is, not only for civilians but for service members. To often they are passed off to someone else, or ignored until tragedy happens, it's so sad and unfortunate, definitely something we as a country need to do better.
Yes, more people need to be patted on the head and anyone who shows any inclination of anger needs to have their entire family brutally tortured in front of their eyes before they are lowered into a vat of acid. Mental health problem solved

But seriously, this case is awful, so many innocent lives lost or damaged by a very depraved and abusive man. The ex-wife was right- like any abuser, he saw her (and by extension, their son) as his property and he was willing to do whatever it took to get back at anyone that he perceived took away what "belonged" to him.

I wouldn't call that a sin lol, but I get what you mean

Self control & giving the right answers can make a very disturbed person look pretty normal!

When Mike popped up the photo of her, and her ex cop husband, I thought HE was the killer (from the witness description). Imagine my surprise when it wasn't him, but a black guy, who didn't have huge bags under his eyes.
Just goes to show that witnesses aren't reliable.
To be close enough to make out bags under his eyes yet get the main description wrong causes concern :-)
He got spooked by his own reflection.
It's the valley of the sun...he probably looked like a white man with a slight tan.
Was he far away and wearing that creepy mask and the witness was drunk?
Dwight: "You took everything from me!"
Paralegals: "I don't even know who you are"

I ALWAYS watch That Chapter. Mike is low key hilarious and very clever. Anyway this story is crazy fascinating and I’d not heard of this story yet. Thanks for the info Mike!
What an Irish Lucky charm you are, love your accent, your upbeat way of presenting an otherwise dismal aspect of humanity.
...it’s “Mikey Time”😃
Yet another good and entertaining documentary. Mike has a natural ability to communicate with his audience. His black humour never deviates from the seriousness of the topic at hand. Well done Mike.
I wake up watch Mike , in bed watch Mike , he’s my best friend and doesn’t even know it 😆
Seems like the start to one of his videos 🤣
Watch yourself Mike😂
@@lealanigifford98 This is the story of Lisa Aquatics. Let's give it a goo 🤣
Soo funny 😄
If Mike goes missing we have our first suspect🤨
This is another example of how important mental healthcare is, not only for civilians but for service members. To often they are passed off to someone else, or ignored until tragedy happens, it's so sad and unfortunate, definitely something we as a country need to do better.
yes!! that was my take away from this
Yes, more people need to be patted on the head and anyone who shows any inclination of anger needs to have their entire family brutally tortured in front of their eyes before they are lowered into a vat of acid. Mental health problem solved
a scary and slippery slope...
This guy was still able to get a gun after domestic violence, a police standoff, and psychiatric hold. That’s just unacceptable.
The $6k a month helped.
Had to be black market. Background checks are required at all gun shops.
Or he already had one and never turned it over.
Its almost like criminals don't follow laws, & making it harder for law abiding people without mental issues to be able to protect themselves, is wrong. Almost like gun violence is ALWAYS worst where gun laws are the strictest.
@@juliannah5721 That same fake, tired old argument.
Doesn't hold water, never did, never will.
This guy wins the greatest alimony jackpot in the history of mankind and he still has to do something insane? Amazing.
That one goes to bezos's ex wife, easily
@@doxiedomian even still he was lucky
I thought alimony was awarded for a certain amount of time, too... But, according to the video, she was still paying it 12 years later!
@@godislove9307 Exactly!! If this guy wanted to see his son more or whatever the case, why didn't he just use the money he was getting from her and hire a top notch lawyer and go about it the legal way? I think she was paying still because of his diagnoses and his condition and out of pity or kindness cuz it is the father after all and she could afford it and possibly thought like most of us that there would never be any problems cuz he hit the mother load!! He didn't even have to work another day in his life!! This is true insanity.
Her telling what he threatened her put chills down my back and across my shoulders, I had an ex threaten the same exact things, even taking my daughter to Mexico, but he was a Mexican so it made sense! This is so eerie that two men, clear across a country would say the same exact things to their wives. A handful of years ago my ex died, it could not have happened soon enough. I lived in terror for a couple of decades. When he died I finally felt safe, relieved, but her telling this brought a lot of it back! I am so grateful that when I am done typing this. I will be at peace again! Sorry that so many lost their lives due to her ex, I am grateful that she and her son and husband are still here. YOU DO NOT OWN US!
Amanda...I am hoping and praying that my son survives his abusive relationship. It is not just husband being the abuser, but him being the victim. I pray he survives this abuser, his wife.
Thank you. Why do these narcissists believe they own their spouse? It’s truly scary and sad. I’m glad you are free from your narcissist.
"She was a doctor. He was jack shit" 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Gotta love how the psych was like “this guy is a dangerous psycho” and the guy was like “ILL SHOW YOU!!” 🔫🥴
Even with those tapes she still had to pay him 6k a month? American justice system ladies & gentlemen.
Such an archaic system. USA still living in the 1800s. Nobody should be forced to pay spousal support after a divorce.
You have no clue how MEN get screwed over 95% of the time. But of course no word about that.
@Balboa Baggins wow, triggered much? No word about that because he was referencing the story in the video. Calm your tits.
murican
America is a continent not a country.
The one I truly feel sorry for is the son. I know what its like being the son of a murderer and the guilt you live with even tho YOU did nothing wrong.
You are not responsible for the sins of your Father.
You might want to look up the daughter of BTK. She's done lots of interviews and even written a book about her experiences growing up as the daughter of an infamous serial killer. I can't say for sure since I don't know you, but maybe connecting to someone who had a similar experience could help you come to terms with everything, or at the very least you might find someone who understands what you're feeling.
Wow - I’m really sorry - I hope you’re doing better.
His wife comes off so attractive and together. It's difficult to believe she got mixed up with this shitheel.
She was very young when she started, then emotionally manipulated & abused into staying for much longer than I'm sure she wanted.
Narcissists are so good at manipulating its hard to tell until its too late
Yes, because women aren’t attracted to bad boys, ever.
I wonder if he went to that couple's place trying to hide, they refused, he killed them?
Good theory 🤨🤔...
@@Blaquebarbgamer good "tee-ury"
What's not covered is after the couples killings were made public on the news, some scumbags went out to their house in fountain hills and robbed it.

Did Mike say that guy was 72 years old when he was shot? Dude looks like he isn't a day over 45 in that picture. I must be doing something wrong here in life..... 😥

Black dont crack
He probably does drink or smoke. Plus has enough self pride to dye his hair which is fine. I don't think I'll ever choose to go grey.
I'm just completely floored with this case. How in the hell are you getting $6,000 a month ($72K per year) from an ex-wife, yet so full of rage? And his living condition even after receiving $6K was just disgusting.
This case really floored me.....
I know. The monthly alimony was insane. I know women get money from doctor husbands but usually they have the baby and care for the baby/child. So very much different. This was insane. He deserved nothing, get a job.
