Actually, I feel the opposite for once. People will get frustrated not being able to find product (pokemon) at a reasonable price and eventually break. Think vivid voltage. Huge momentum but the same issue we’re seeing now - long periods where product is impossible to find at retail.
Ah yeh that's fair, although I think they then just go to buying Japanese instead but it's a really good point I didn't consider. I do think most of this year will be sparse for Pokémon so it will be interesting to see if we do see more enter some of the other card games because of it
@ Just like stocks and crypto, you essentially want to be cautious when the general public has its full attention on it. Pokemon had several rugpulls, literally 1.5 years ago we had the Japanese Pokemon boom and crash within a short 6 months (some cards went from $1k to $15k then back down). I just don’t see this level of retail product drought, high value singles, full on gas pedal going on the entirety of 2025. I will say though, Bushiroad is a terrible company that refuses to capitalize on any momentum so I could see Weiss just dying in a few years too (on the English side at least).
@@RayQ101 yeh true, it will probably last as long as they manage to do a substantial reprint enough to make all the scalpers and flippers struggle to shift and race to the bottom. Could be in 3 months 6 or 9. Yup I think you are right. Especially if the new hand signed cards stay as a JP thing only. It’s a no brainer than to rather open JP Weiss if you’re a collector.
Its a good talking point Mike, I think in the main you summarised it a while ago in one of your vids when you spoke of finding a network of players. I have no idea how popular the anime is, I know I bought a couple of boxes of Weiss Star Wars and Weiss Marvel. The artwork is great, but despite signature cards, it just isnt enough for me to look closer at it.
I've been picking up some Weiss slabs with the money I made selling some of my Sword and Shield boxes. So I guess I'm kind of moving money from Pokemon into Weiss. 🤔 The problem Weiss has is that Pokemon are really catering to the "Waifu/Anime" crowd now more than ever. That could definitely draw people away. Weiss is also a TCG where people dip in and out depending on what the IP is. I don't know many people who collect every set. I'm still buying Attack on Titan cards whenever I see them and the last AOT set was a while ago now. What's happening with Pokemon is nuts. They're so far ahead of every other TCG now. The whole Pokemon v Magic argument has completely gone away.
Ah nice that you are locking in some of the profits! I think that will always be a very big issue with both Weiss and UA. People dip in and out for different sets. But also it's what the whole tcg is based around so it's kinda just one of those things. Yeh Pokémon just sort of have this recipe that can't be matched by others at all.
We started with pokemon, but we did get a little bored during the first few sets of S&V but to be honest pokemon has been great again since twilight masquerade and it seems like it's only going to get better too 🎉🔥
@JigglyBruvCards yeh it’s a tricky one, how are you finding collecting both pokemon and one piece? Or is there usually one that’s always the preference?
@PokeMike We try our best to collect both, but that usually just leads to bad financial decisions 🤣

Personally it’s Been the opposite for me I was collecting Pokemon for 8 years and in August 2023 I started collecting Op then in December Weiss than January Union

My opinion is because of one piece anime I got into one piece tcg and kingdra ex promo from shrouded fable got me into collecting pokemon tcg. I think the artwork and persons playing the tcg makes it relavent

I doubt most people can collect two different tcg hobbies at the same time. Gotta sacrifice one of the, 🪦
