These guys are awesome. They come from Bellevue WA. I grew up with these guys. I live in Edmonds WA, and really appreciate their music. I'm 67 and still a fan.
Imagine putting this awesome song together with putting the muscianship with vocals and rhythm...queensryche..have always putting great hits out since the 80's..great job reacting!!!
Anything from Operation Mindcrime! But do the live version Operation Livecrime! Geoff is a good friend of mine and has always been my absolute favorite vocalist!
Geoff Tate - vocals, Chris DeGarmo - guitar & backing vocals, Eddie Jackson - bass & backing vocals, Michael Wilton - guitar & backing vocals, Scott Rockenfield - drums. Queensryche is still touring and recording, although the lineup has changed. Eddie Jackson and Michael “Whip” Wilton are still in the band, but Todd LaTorre is now on lead vocals, Casey Grillo is on drums and Mike Stone on guitar. I got to see this lineup and few years ago and they are amazing. Geoff Tate is also still out there, and I hear he still sounds fantastic.
So cool that they are still touring and that Geoff Tate is still out there doing it! 🤘🏻 His voice was phenomenal and the whole band was killer! Appreciate the info!
These guys are legendary. Operation: Mindcrime is the best prog-metal album of all time and easily one of the top 3 rock concept albums of all time. Yes, right up there with Pink Floyd's The Wall
Operation mindcrime is a metal artistic conceptual masterpiece... Geoff is one if the greatest to sing IMO. No yelling or screaming here, pure singing, as it was meant to be
Check out the album operation Mindcrime from Queensrÿche. It’s a concept album first song begins the story and the last song in the story. The mission and suite sister Mary are some really good tracks.
DeGarmo was always melodic and not a shredder. What makes it even better is the band is just droning the beat in the background keeping so much space open for the solo to shine in.
Thank you for giving a listen to my favorite band on the planet: Original lineup Queensryche!! I read all the comments, and I have to agree with them and their suggestions. It's really hard to pick out songs for people new to the band because they have so many REALLY GOOD songs that are different from one another. YES, Whole concept album, "Operation: Mindcrime" from beginning to end, in order, with headphones on and lyrics sleeve in front of you! A masterpiece of songwriting, lyrics, and musicianship! Other picks: "Walk in the Shadows" "Anybody Listening?" "One More Time" "Jet City Woman" "Another Rainy Night" "Queen of the Reich" live from this same show. "The Killing Words" from MTV Unplugged. 1992 Just to get you started. I really liked all the things you pointed out! I agree with everything you said. I love to hear a musician's take on the band because you guys really understand the finer points of all the elements that go into making great songs! I hope you DO go down Queensryche's rabbit hole! Take some snacks with you, 'cos you'll be down there for a while! 😜🎶
Thanks so much for the kind words and glad you enjoyed the video! Oh, I’m definitely digging deeper down the rabbit hole with them and I love snacks so that’s a good thing I’ll be down there for a while! 😆 Appreciate you hanging out for a bit!
Whole mind crime album whole empire album same with rage for order album walk in the shadows favorite from that album. Been into group since started was 22 when this show was recorded
I just saw Geoff on 4/26. He's 64 and still brings it! My favorite vocalist EVER! Listen to the entire Operation Mind crime album, especially I Don't Believe in Love and Eyes of a Stranger. My favorite song is off of the Empire album and is Another Rainy Night.
Thanks! Great singer! I could totally see Dan Vasc doing a cover of this. The only other songs I know from them is "Eyes of a Stranger" and "Silent Lucidity."
Great band. The singer Geoff Tate is a classically trained singer and has a 4-octive vocal range. Geoff and the lead guitar player Chris DeGarmo wrote this song Take Hold of The Flame. Both Geoff Tate and Freddie Mercury of the band Queen both have the same vocal range of 4-Octives. An interesting fact is that Geoff Tate, Ann Wilson (singer for the band Heart) and Chris Cornell (singer for the band Soundgarden) all had the same vocal teacher David P. Kyle. Great reaction.
As a drummer you should check out Fates Warning. They're considered one of the big three of prog rock godfathers, along with Queensryche and Dream Theater. The late 1980s and 1990s with Mark Zonder on drums and Ray Alder on vocals can't be beat. The albums "Perfect Symmetry" and "Parallels" are classics. Check out the song "Life in Still Water" for a good use of that mix of acoustic drums and electric pads--not to mention interesting cymbal work. He was the first drummer that made me hear the musicality of drums and more than just a tempo.
Geoff Tate is one of the top 10 (5 if you ask me) voices in metal history. You should check "Queen of the Reich", "Breaking the silence", "I don't believe in love" as well, so many great songs l can't chose.
Key albums are "Operation Mindcrime" and "Empire" but don't skip their debut EP or my personal favorite "Promised Land" - great reaction. You found yourself a new sub.
You have to check out the self titled EP Queensryche.....it set the bar for those that came after. Nobody could touch these guys for their technical ability and Tates Vocals. And the warning, and Rage for Order then the masterpiece that was Operation Mindcrime , it's message is still as relevant now as it was back in 86-87.
When i was a kid my library had records you could check out. Only metal ones theychad was queensryche, empire and grim reaper, rock you to hell. I kept em checked out. Love queensryche man. Empire for me overall due to the childhood
The album “operation: mindcrime” is a full concept album and one of the greatest pieces of progressive metal ever. I own it in every format: vinyl, cassette, cd, vhs, and dvd.
You need to check out the album operation mindcrime !! you need to listen to the entire album to understand it because it is a concept album !! the best one I have ever heard buy any band !! the only other concept album that even comes close is by a band named deceased and the album is called Fearless Undead machines !!
Queen of the Reich (live in Tokyo), Eyes of a Stranger, Empire, The Lady Wore Black, Another Rainy Night, Silent Lucidity, Is There Anybody Listening If you listen to any live versions, you should listen to the older ones with singer Geoff Tate.
Geoff Tate is the singer. He’s one of the best. Other great songs are of course “Silent Lucidity”, “Another Rainy Night (Without You)”, “Empire”, “Jet City Woman”, “Best I Can”, and “Anyone Listening?” are all excellent songs.
Seen them live twice in the 80's and IMO Geoff Tate sounds better live than he does on the albums. Chris Degarmo is one of the most underrated lead guitarists ever
I saw Queensryche as support act to Dio, same year. I’ll say that again. Geoff Tate and Ronnie James Dio on the same bill. (Two nights running, Birmingham U.K.)
This was 2 months ago, hopefully you have listened to the Operation mind crime album. On your Prince reaction I suggested you listen to The Loring Park Sessions 77 from Prince, it would be great to know what you thought. You like pure talent, do a reaction to Igor Paspalj-Breakneck...unreal guitarist.
Can't go wrong with Roads to Madness and like others have said Operation Mindcrime. Also might want to check out Dream Theater perhaps the songs Breaking All Illusions or Illumination Theory or the song Home. Since you mentioned liking those solos.
You should watch Queensryche: Operation LiveCrime. Its the live version of Operation Mindcrime. An amazing concept album. You could break it up into sections to review. I guarantee you would not be dissapointed.
