HMS Titanic is a British ship built in Ireland. Her maiden and only voyage was from Southampton, England.

Various Southern American accents are notoriously difficult to mimic. Even Americans struggle with the nuances and vowel sounds in a variety of drawls and twangs.

House isn't a movie. It is an American dramatic TV series about an extremely gifted doctor, who is also cranky, crabby and handicapped with a bad leg; who heads a department at a hospital in Princeton, New Jersey that specializes in finding medical diagnosis' in patients that have baffled other doctors. At times he sees regular patients with regular problems where his gruff humor shines through.

Hugh Laurie had a great scene on Friends when he sat next to Rachel on a plane. He told her she was indeed on a break from Ross.

Kate Winslet played some great British roles like in Sense and Sensibility, The Holiday & Heavenly Creatures. She does an amazing American accent in all her American roles. Christian Bale is a great actor. I remember him from Empire of the Sun when he played a British child. One of my favorites that he was in as an American is Newsies. He did a great New York City accent. Another one that should have been mentioned is Toni Collette. She played the mom in The Sixth Sense. Her accent is outstanding! I knew she was British because I've seen her in Muriel's Wedding which I believe was the movie that put her in the spotlight. As for an American actor performing a British role. I would say Renee Zellweger who plays Bridget Jones in Bridget Jones's Diary.

Hugh Laruei is from House, an TV series. Amazing series honestly. Not sure how it would do on RUclips. He basically would spend every episodes trying to diagnose a new patient with something. It sounds boring in concept, but you have to see it to understand the appeal.

I'm a big fan of the TV series The Mentalist. I never knew until years after the show ended that Owain Yeoman, who played Wayne Rigsby, was British, specifically Welsh. His accent certainly fooled me. Catherine Zeta-Jones is also a Welsh actress who does a great American accent.

There are a few British people on the walking dead. One of them went to school in England so she also switches American and English.

Jason O'Mara, from Dublin, was great as supposed NYC cop in "Life On Mars" .
U.S. TV series (2008-09). Cut short by poor ratings. I loved this series but was sadly bummed out by the ending. It turned out to be based not on fantasy and time travel (back to 1970s NY), but the character's dreams or such, while in 'stasis' as one of a groups of astronauts on the way to Mars. Sorry about the spoiler.
The series was was based on BAFTA-winning original UK series of the same name produced by the BBC. I saw a little bit on BBC America and could not watch. it was too Brit to be able follow along.

Hugh Laurie is easily the best, mostly I believe because he focused on a character rather than an American accent. A lot just sound generically American, like a Ford Prefect effect, and don't necessarily sound wrong, but noticeably off just a bit. Matthew Rhys in The Americans had an oddly off accent, all the more conspicuous as he was meant to be a Russian spy posing as an American, so logically it should have been a plot concern. And none of the British actors in The Wire really even tried to sound like Baltimore with their American accents. But it was funny when Stringer Bell (Elba's character) was on the come up with the real estate developers, he kind of let some of the British slip out, I guess presuming that'd sound more posh in that circle of acquaintances!
