@jennyward this talk is so needed. That part about the majority of women being concerned that their confidence would be seen as something abrasive, aggressive etc accentuates the point that we all need to be more aware of our biases. It was awesome seeing you practice and rehearse this talk and that it’s getting the attention it deserves.

This is amazing and I'm so happy that Jenny is talking about an unspoken rule among successful female business leaders. Having to walk that fine line of being confident, but not too confident, of being a leader, but not too bossy, of spearheading a strategy, but not being too pushy, etc. Amazing presentation Jenny, thank you for your wisdom and fearlessness.

This brought me back to a time I took charge of closing duties at my work. The current acting manager was crying because her drawer wouldn’t balance and everyone else was standing around wondering what to do. I figured it was best if we all carried on with closing duties per usual. So I was reading off the list to assign tasks to whomever. The next day I got in trouble for “barking orders” … I was just reading the list off to get it done. Next time I’ll wait until your manager stops crying.

It’s not victimsation, there are tons of studies proving this. And yes, men benefit a lot from the way our societies socialize them and from the fact that women are indirectly told to be modest and to not try to highlight their achievments and and qualities as a person.
