Hello Alec, you are correct. Without watching this video, I tried this technique with the same brand finish but it was called “flat out flat” and not “dead flat.” It was left over from when I re-finished our cabinets. It’s a good top coat finish for sure. Like you did, I put on 2 coats, but then put a black wash on the piece with a 3rd “flat on flat” top coat to seal. I think it did what I was wanting to do, a non-shiney - monotone - coat. Thanks for the video.
@AlecLaCasseArt Don't think you mentioned walrus oil this time, but it does darken my cedar, which is completely welcomed by me. I love that it drys matte, too.
Hello, im curious, to the wood spirit and the open bark pointing to the sides. Is it going to fall off with time ? How long could that effect last ? I mean the bark spread to the side
Good too know. As you were finishing I was wondering about cottonwood bark. I struggle with finishes darkening cottonwood which is frustrating. I'm anxious to start using this and hoping to have the same results. Plus I always like using water base products whenever possible. Thanks for sharing this.
Alec, great demo. Your pieces were nice and flat. Loved the bush! "Nooks and crannies."

Nice demo Alec! Really great ideas on finishes!
more great options for finishing and protecting the piece, thanks
Thanks for the suggestion Alec.
Of course!
I thought it was beating AROUND the bush, not beating the bush 😂❤ Thanks for the demonstration! Always welcomed information.

How does that finish feel? I whittle and love the way the carvings feel before I paint them up, but painting and finishing can change that smoothness.
It’s not amazing! Kind of rough !
On bark, I imagine better on harder woods and better on woods with a knife finish
@@AlecLaCasseArt thanks!

She’ll e glad to know you said her name right!! 😂😂😂
Where are you purchasing this finish ?
Is the live show on later Alec?
Yes! 5pm ESt
Been looking for new and good finish. It looked natural. I listened to a carver that said mineral oil was a good finish
Good stuff!! Mineral oil isn't bad either!
$46.00 a can, no thanks
