If you are a little bit heavy and do not have a lifter, you better have it done in the dealership. I did it myself on 2019 Hybrid for 4 quarts for $68 plus. Easy peasy for me.
OCD 🤣 Dude keeps second guessing the scanner tool with the temp gun. Bro, let me help you... here's a thermometer to check behind the temp gun 🤣 Nice video, thanks!
So you're basically filling the transmission with .5 quarts extra ATF, and that second bolt is an overflow, so once everything is at operating temp it is at a perfect level of ATF once it comes to a trickle? Correct me if I'm wrong
I'm also curious if there's a filter that needs to be replaced for the transmission fluid like an oil filter.
I don't trust the dealership to do this work**
You are correct. Fill the transmission with the correct OEM fluid. I would not use any other transmission fluid. Then, let the fluid get to operating temperature, unscrew the first plug and let the excess fluid fall to a drip then quickly close it off. You're done. There is no filter.
Actually if you measured how much came out you can replace with same amount and not have to deal with overflow drain.
The reason for overfilling by a half quart is to ensure that it becomes level once the excess expanded (heated) fluid is drained. Thank you for watching.
Just curious did you drop the transmission pan and change the gasket?
@@kevin-ty4nm no. There is no transmission pan here. Just drop the transmission nut and dipstick
So the engine has to be running to set the level?
I do it myself ! # times already
We have to be very careful with the dealer they not professional any more I took my car to Toyota dealer for engine oil change and I find out they put 1 quarter extra I did the oil change to check and I found extra oil in the engine oil
Do you do your Transmission after 60k or 6 years, which ever comes first ? or i heard some say you wait a little long than that.
@@knight3131 being that I do it myself, I do it every 30,000 miles. I don’t think you should follow the Manufacturer recommended fluid change intervals because they are unrealistic. For instance, just because they say in the manual to change your oil every 10,000 miles with good oil that is not a good idea. Full synthetic for an oil change should be no more than 5000 miles in between oil changes. If you want all your moving parts to last a very long time, then in my opinion, changing all fluid before the recommended interval change is ideal.
30,000...or close. Car is 40,000 don't be cheap on fluid changes 😊
Always use jack stands they will definitely save your life ☠️☠️☠️
Im in the hvac businesses, i would have to say as a technician. I dont approve DIY...knocks me out of $$$😊
Close the engine when draining. It can yield wrong result
Close the engine you mean turn it off ?
you can keep it running as long as you follow these instructions
How do you have 3 jacks but only 2 jack stands 🤣
Too much commentary. Just talk less and do more.
Too much works for me!!! i will pay $550 and let professional do it.
Yeah man, someone before said $68 to do this job. If you are 'flushing' you can probably go 100k, but if you are 'replacing' every 30k, thats 68*3 which is about $300 saved, before you buy all those tools.. and do all that work.
Otherwise, good video, very informative!
