I'll always remember this as the race Jeff Gordon learned how to do a proper burnout, courtesy of Kevin Harvick. Thanks for the post, man!

I loved watching Ron Fellows and Boris Said shake the field up in the road races. It's a shame neither of them could seal the deal with a win in a Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup race.

Boris Said has retired from racing this past season.

Boris actually had better results and chances to win a cup race at Daytona. He got a pole there and a couple top 5’s. One of those races he ran top 10 all night and seemed to be the car to beat.

@paulsack21 Mike Skinner was injured in an accident at Chicagoland. He gave the knee a little time to recuperate, then came back way too early. Knowing his career was in the balance, he left Childress early (he was going out anyway) to get the surgery done. In this race, NBC inadvertently cost Robby Gordon the win after the in-car camera caught fire, and thus the car wasn't safe to drive.

Mike Skinner was injured at Chicago and never came back to racing till the following year, he was let go by RCR and signed a deal for the Kodak 4 car after that team Morgan-McClure dealt with multiple drivers after they had Robby Gordon for the first 5 not including the Daytona 500 qualifier races, then it was Kevin Lepage, and Bobby Hamilton Jr., for the remainder of 2001.

    • @azarisLP

Too bad for Robby Gordon his terrible attitude spoiled his on-track talent. Losing your ride to mediocrities like Kevin Lepage or Mike Skinner...

Well it's a combination of things. The new NASCAR fans are idiots, the racing isn't as good anymore, Brian France (don't get me started) they won't let the drivers settle their on track issues, they can't speak their mind. But what has really been missing is the drivers have been missing a spokesman, if you will since Dale died. Fucking miss that guy, I may be a die hard Gordon fan but Dale Sr. was and always be the man!
