As I stare at the character creator of a DA game I always remember this saying: "If you don't pick mage, you've picked wrong," but I usually ignore it and play as a Rogue for my first playthrough 😅 This is mainly because I enjoy quick, dodgy melee instead of hanging out in the back. After seeing this video, it looks like Veilguard might be the game to break that cycle. Being able to start off as an orb and dagger-wielding mage is so tempting. And those magical sparkles are really nice - I'm a sucker for flashy effects! 🎉
that's why i love the blade of tidarion + knight-enchanter specialization combo in inquisition! (especially since you can actually equip the blade of tidarion with an elemental rune which gives elemental barrage another set of projectiles. feels so good to smack someone up then nuke them 👌👌👌)
I have always seen mage playthriughs as the canon for each DA game, just my own personal opinion, but I too hate just standing back and shooting some orbs so this is kind of huge. I'm very stoked.
@sforzando Yeah, the Knight Enchanter is a fantastic specialization; I love it. The only real downside is that you can't unleash those epic Jedi-like smacks until you reach level 10 or maybe 11. It's been 9 years, so bear with me on the details. The attack speed is a bit slow for me, but let's be real-nothing beats the thrill of Fade Stepping up to an enemy and unleashing the power of the spirit blade on them for the first time.
This SpellBlade, though, is promising everything I love about Knight Enchanter and shoving it into the quick, dodgy, melee Rogue playstyle I adore and prefer. And what is even more exciting is that they're not making me wait for the specialization to get up close and stab someone with the pointy end.
The Rogue Specializations are going to have to really impress the Naked Nug out of me to consider passing Rogue Enchanter. *Enchantment! *stab *stab *orbs *orbs ...what does the orb do? I'll try an blow up a Devine with it and see what happens.

I totally feel you on the slow attack speed - I tend to start a swing then animation cancel with the search function to start my next swing sooner - but that only works with the Blade of Tidarion and not with the spirit blade, I'm pretty sure. Here's hoping the spellblade lives up to our expectations!! 🗡✨
@NoodlesDaC I'm doing a playthrough right now, I'm using a staff that's doing 219 dps. She lights up everyone. I've now reached level 27 so I'm almost at the limit of weapon and damage potential. I defeated Hakkon so easy hahaa. Personally, I've done every time of playthrough, spec and class. Not

I think Veilguard will probably finish up the current storyline. If they continue with more Dragon Age, it will probably be about the other continents, following the Executioners and maybe the Qunari. That said, Inquisition was in crunch mode because of the change in the engine and Bioware's unfamiliarity with it + having to wrangle it to make an RPG game rather than a shooter. They are by now very familiar with it (or probably have the option to use the Unreal engine, which is presumably super smooth and easy to work with), and looks like they have a solid foundation to work from for the next game.
I think the hypothetical 5th DA game could be made in 6 years without crunch, esp once Bioware acknowledges that it's an important franchise and doesn't pull the team away to do ridiculous crap like Anthem. Hopefully, the next DA game could be released in 2030...? That is, if this game does well, which I'm optimistic it will.
If i remember correctly at the release of the DAI was mentioned that they already have the main story elements for two more games, and that all the lore was already planned since Origins. So i guess we'll have one more game. If DAV is successful of course.
I’m hopeful for DLC. Especially post-game since they could potentially add blood mage for players that really want it. It would be cool to deal with the Qunari plot or a betraying companion plot line could be further fleshed out in DLC like Solas and Morrigan, who knows. Maybe one of our companions joins the Qun and we get the best of both worlds?
Maybe I’m in the minority for that but my fire for BG3 was put out quickly when I finished the my durge and they announced no further content. Was really hoping for the werewolf/bard companion that was cut since we have a vampire.

I agree. I think that DAV will see the end of the blight and everybody cheering. And at the end (or during the main DLC) we will see 'A danger' that will be the tie to the next DA games and that will involve other continents. Perhaps a void eldritch monster, an executor or qunari invasion, whatever is going on in the east etc.

Between the magical arcs and crystal shards/orbs, it looks like we’re an Elden Ring boss at level ONE and I’m living for it.
I am absolutely playing a mage, and I am romancing the mage killer Lucanis first play through because I feel he is so intriguing, and I love his look.
That’s my plan too !
Be sure to read his short story! It will give you a good perspective on his personality and motives. He’s called the mage killer because he got 40 magisters killed and is pretty great at hunting them, so isn’t that he is a “mage killer” specifically or that he dislikes mages. He can sense magic and so he can track them easier. But man he is amazing. I can’t wait to romance him. He’s super interesting! I was hoping he would be a companion since that book’s release so I am giddy! Definitely read the book if you haven’t ;)
my Qunari Inquisitor did not allow Morrigan to drink from the well and did it himself, so I'm very intrigued by what this might lead to

Im so curious about the forgotton ones and whether they will return as villains.
After knowing wht we know about the Evanuris, and from what we can read in the Shattered Library, I get the impression the Forgotten Ones would more likely just be other beings who stepped on the *almighty* elven lords' toes and got banished for it hahahaha.... I guess it remains to be seen
Kotaku mentioned the mage was capable of wielding daggers and orbs this time around. Man this game is going to be great when we get to play it.
I’m glad we’re finally getting a second weapon option for mages! It was always strange to me that warriors and rogues both had multiple weapon types but mages were always just stuck with a staff

Honestly Jack I have been a fan of these games since DAO in 2009. But after Inquisition there was a huge drought of content coming from BioWare in regards to the franchise and you were the only channel that I would watch and would keep me up to date with anything Dragon Age and BioWare related. I can’t believe we’re actually here and there’s a new game on the horizon. Thank you for keeping this machine alive ❤
Man I wish I shared your enthusiasm, I'm not a "dragon age" fan but rather more of a rpg fan and since bioware is leaning towards face paced combat for some reason it just doesn't strike my fancy anymore

I was thinking something along the lines of the other Evanuris recognized the blight/red lyrium as a source of further power, especially if they were at war. After the tussle with Andruil
, Mythal was like absolutely not, so “in their lust for power” they took her out. Solas tells Vivienne that he could care less about Blood Magic, but says that for blight magic, “those who believe themselves capable of using it safely are mad,” which I think could indicate it caused a lot of problems in his time 🤷♀️
I hope Taint does not spread over all of Thedas like you're speculating. But you are good at predictions. 😮
On steam it said around 2070 nvida gtx. I think 3070/3080 at least to best performance.

I bought a brand new computer just for this game
Irst playthrough will be a tall, buff malle Dalish elf with long black hair. He'll be Veil Jumper who is a Veil Ranger rogue and romances Bellara. Second will be a male city elf Crow duelist with olive skin and eyes for Neve.
The part of the video where Rook jumps and spins slamming a dagger downward could in my opinion possibly be a Rogue or a Mage like (The Arcane Warrior in Origins) doing a combo heavy attack with Neve's frost magic causing an explosion to go off and do more damage 🤔🤷♂️
if they bring out a dlc (whch i hope they do)i want them to bring back all the companions esp Fenris lol from the other games
Don't know if this will get seen or not but I read something yesterday that said the reaper specialization is tied to the mourn watch, and spellcaster is tied to the crows. So does that mean you can't play as say a gray warden reaper? Will our faction dictate what specializations can be for whatever class we pick? That doesn't sound very 'play your way'. Anyone know anything about this? I've been trying to find more info and haven't been able to

My laptop can run baldurs gate 3 just fine. So i hope 🙏 it will be able to run DAVe. Altho, i wouldnt be opposed to buying a new gaming laptop if my current one cant handle it.

Can someone please explain to me why we could or would side with Solas ? Serious question not looking to poke fun or anything. He betrayed the Inquisitor, never really being honest. Unleashes Corypheus and gives him the elven artifact just to reactive it and almost destroys the the world and kills countless thousands maybe even millions. Throws the world into chaos time and time again to fit his own selfish desires again killing how many? Now we have Veilguard where again he unleashes Demons or maybe he just calls them "spirits" and ancient "gods" apon the world and when we try to intervene and stop him from destroying everything again , he refuses to take any blame and just blames Rook. Please what are his redeeming qualities? At the end of inquisition he didnt care if eveyone was okay or whos might of been hurt of lost their life , he only cared about the destroyed artifact. What am I missing? I've played since Origins came out and have finished every game several times over. Am i just stupid?
For me it's a matter of my brain going "but he fwiend:(" and sympathising with the bastard. I'm nowhere near as invested into the lore of this game as some other people, though, so there's definitely a lot that I might be missing.
1. In case of blaming Rook, I can definitely see why Solas is doing that. The dude's been trying to transfer two elven gods from one "prison" to another, has apparently taken precautions to minimise the damage, and then BOOM! Some poor sod shows up and disrupts his ritual, not only (albeit unknowingly) unleashing said elven gods, but also trapping Solas' ass in the Fade instead, effectively nullifying all those precautions. I imagine that's gonna be far more disastrous than the consequences of whatever Solas had initially planned, so... yeah, I'd be pissed too. Question is, is it going to be more disastrous according to *him*, or objectively? I'm betting on the latter for the time being, given everything that we've been shown so far.
2. While he, as a character, was intentionally meant to mirror Corypheus in terms of goals (as far as I'm aware), Solas repeatedly says that he doesn't feel any pleasure from what he's doing (can't remember the exact phrasing, sorry), and that he wouldn't be doing this if there was any other way. To me, that's a sign that not all hope is lost-and, like Varric mentioned, Solas just needs someone to give him a better alternative. In theory, at least, because in practice I don't think there *is* a better alternative that he, at the moment, would find satisfying enough.
Anyway, I'm sure there's more to this choice than that, I just lack the necessary knowledge to provide you with a better answer (and for that I apologise). What I *can* say is that he's definitely a nuanced character who isn't neither inherently good nor inherently bad, and that's enough for me to try to "save him from himself", so to speak.
To me it seems like the phrase "The path to hell is paved with good intentions". Just because solas wanted to restore the veil and bring elves back to where they used to be. Not really caring what effect that has on everyone else's who is not an elf. To him the magic that the other races use is just something stolen from the elves so they deserve their fate..I.E. death.While trying to do right by his people is admirable, forsaking everyone else and all that's been built in the thousands of years since the veil has been established is not.To me it seems like "the ends don't justify the means" kinda thing. I don't know I just have trouble seeing how he'd be a good guy.

Honestly, I'm not surprised you have trouble seeing him as a good guy, either (after all, he's... eh, morally grey at best, I suppose). Either way, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how he's changed since DA:I and whether Bioware is going to give him a redemption arc.

I look forward to the game too, I think my Inquisitor would try and save him because he's a Qunari with a heart of gold ..but I don't know how I feel about him personally or if my Rook will want to save him or not. I'll have to feel out the game and build a character I think would be appropriate for the scenario. Again thank you, I love the Dragon age community because we can have discussions like this and not be mad or throw insults.

I don't like the mage gameplay, it's making me rethink my choice of Rogue for my first playhtrough.
Well it is sad for me, my intel core is more than 16% worse compare to the minimal requirement. And the graphic card? in the Nvidia list, there is no gtx 980, just 960 and 980. But if they misswhrite that and they think of 980, then my graphic card is weak too. Sad. i was eable to play with my old computer Hogward legacy, and now the Dragon age Veilguad better then HL? :O
I maybe barely enable to play with the Veildguard, or no. Hard choise, the game itself not cheap and i not want to investing meg computer... But sooner or later i have to sadly. My savings
