Question: For some of our future topics (e.g. North Korea-related topics and panel discussions), our videos are going to be quite long (e.g. 40 min) so which format would you prefer to watch (to the end)? A. One 40-min video B. Two 20-min videos (uploaded at the same time)
can you please guys upload Korean subtiles ? I think that is necessary for korean ppl to have a certain perspective to these issues, with African Americans explaining it.
One thing I dislike about those other races is that they love the black culture they love hip hop they love the style but some of them don’t like to respect our color or our culture and when we get mad and say something they wanna call us sensitive and a bunch of other things and I’m not just talking about Koreans that goes for other races too
thats super true, and in the last 2 years since you posted your comment Christelle it's gotten much bigger. K-Pop is completely gentrifying african-american culture and at this point they better start changing their behavior and general culture about it. I genuinely would understand this from Japan, which has difficulties really taking any culture from America and not turning it into a japanese-fusion (not saying Japanese people get an ok to gentrify and be racist, I just mean that Japanese people try to always appreciate media as it is, they do not gentrify the media that comes from overseas as much as Korea has in the past 2 years.) NO MORE BIG BRO BIG SIS IF YOURE WEARING CORNROW BRAIDS IN YOUR POP MUSIC VIDEOS DAILY , KOREA!
IKR cardi b is a great example, she does her edges, wears braids, and says the n word, raps and calls black women monkeys. The most disturbing part is she’s not even black. She’s damn near white and Hispanic. She loves our culture but not black people
This was a group of well spoken and informed people that experienced SK first hand. I feel like I'm a bit more informed about what to expect as a black woman in Korea when I travel there next year. Good job 😊
ERC I'm going to assume you've spent time in SK and are a foreigner which is why you can say its not that bad. It's good to watch videos about others experience but I always try to take it with a grain of salt. I know I might not have the same exact experiences but I apreciate different points of views.
ERC this^^^^ so many people post about their 1 single negative experience and make a big deal out of it that people take it as "Oh this must happen often?!" .. But people forget that online you only see small bits of people's lives.
I have a black foreign friend in Korea. Lived Here for 3 years only had 1stupid incident. Ignore all those videos they are exaggerated at times. I hope you enjoy Korea:) eat lots of food and make many memories! Welcome
Why aren’t there Korean subtitles? We don’t need to know this, we already do, they need to know this. We aren’t here to hear our own opinions. It’s very upsetting to see no subtitles.
Such a well spoken dialogue. The girl in the middle summed it up well: You can either play into the stereotype, or show those around you love and help them get to know us. Keep spreading the positivity!
As a black kpop fan, 12 year old me was so excited about traveling to Korea and living life as an English Teacher. Now, 20 year old me wouldn't even step foot in the country. I still love kpop and I still enjoy the culture, but knowing that there's this stigma, knowing that my presence isn't wanted in Korea, and my skin and hair are mocked, just thinking about going gives me anxiety. Over the years I would see videos and black people giving their experiences on living life in Korea, and my excitement would just fade away. I'm aware not all Koreans have an ignorant mindset, but I'd rather stick to visiting other locations.
IcePrincess642 I still am going to go as a black person. It is true that I did hesitate in my plan to go after learning about all that happens, although I feel like it is worth it. If we stay away and if we don’t offer diversity to South Korea, things won’t get better. We need more foreigners to go there to (for lack of better word) force them into learning that we aren’t wild animals.
As a Korean, Just so embarrassing. Koreans have never got a chance to interact with other races because it has only been not even more than 40 years to have immigrants in Korea. Koreans have so much curiosity to other races especially black but they have never learned how to deal with them. Hopefully, nowadays Koreans are awakening and learning a lot so I think Korea will have better and better society.
@@unknownfrvr6767 we know that the treatment of black people is a serious problem but you're disrespecting koreans as a whole in return? They don't 'worship' white people. This is very offensive. I hope they learn how to treat black people and their culture well, but what you're saying is honestly disrespectful too... Seems like we all have to learn how to respect each other.
I’m black and Live in America and I remember having to walk to the grocery store with my one year old. I have severe health issues and on the way home with my one year old boy and loads of groceries I began to feel faint and weak and fell to the ground. I couldn’t move and so I began calling out for help. It was at least an hour before someone decided to help even though many people saw me on the ground with a baby and just walked by. The person who stopped to help me looked at me and said he would help me but first he wanted to check me to see if I had a knife or gun on me. I asked him how he could think that I have a weapon and he said that I know why. He almost didn’t help until his daughter told him “ dad, she has a child with her and catch tell that she is not well. Don’t be ridiculous and help her “. This was my worst racist experience I couldn’t believe that just from looking at me even though I was weak and had a baby with me he believed that I had a weapons on me. A so dangerous as a gun in fact. It’s saddened my heart.
I've heard of many cases of people being sued over trying to help a person, but doing it not proffesionally and doing more damage. Wasn't it actually because of that?
It's not black people out here shooting up schools but whatever bro make sure I'm unarmed (when it is actually LEGAL to bear arms in America) before helping me and my baby smh. That shit's nuts.
As a Korean I would like to apologize for the ignorance in my motherland. I myself was born and raised in latin america, but as I saw the gag video of the black face, I found it funny. At first I didn't know the historical background that they explained in this video. But now that I see this, just wow... deep apologies.
Not hating, just curious... why in the WORLD did you find it funny? I honestly can't understand that... it just looks like a bunch of stupid inbred backwoods idiots clowning; embarrassing, humiliating... not funny.
I am a korean and I have been in a coutry where I was the only Asian in the town I was living. Watching this video I just felt especially with the ladies over race. Because I have almost the same experiences. Racism must be faded out to the history of mistakes. And there should be no excuses for discrimination. We can't just say it's because we Koreans are not used to foreigners anymore. It does not help either koreans or foreigners.
Yes!! I love this comment so much. As an African of Kenyan heritage I know S. Korea is not perfect nation, but there is so much room for it to grow as a country and educating the next generation of Koreans on different ethnicities that exist in throughout the world. But what I love most of all is that it is a very relatively safe country too. So while I also agree there is no excuse for discrimination I know that it can be combated with knowledge in sharing your experiences with others so that Koreans have a better understanding of not only where we come from but what we represent in the world in values & culture. Personally I really love S. Korea and it's culture so deeply although at times Korean society may seem a little difficult to adapt to, however as long as I don't have to fear about losing my life I know I'll be okay as my soul is eased with some peace. I have faith in S. Korea's future.
We can't just close our eyes. If I have kids in the future I don't want them to experience hurt or discrimination just because of the way they look. It's so tough because I can literally go anywhere in the world and still experience discrimination there is no place in the world I am safe from it. Even though it's less in some places. I really hope things change because when I have a child in the future I don't want to have to be telling them "you have to ignore racism" I wish for it not to exist
What I was thinking. I doubt they go: hi big korean sister or brother. XD Don't they introduced first then after knowing their names we go nice to meet you. We should include socializing in those long hours of class Korea have.
Korean people don't use name unless you're close to the person, even among themselves. This a feature specific to the language. So they use title until you become close to each other. Anyway I don't like the title for black people.
Like I get that bro and sis are a common thing to be called but why must black be in our title . Don’t get me wrong I have no shame in being a black person but it just seems odd that you would refer to me as big black sis/bro and not refer to an white person big white sis/bro or any other race based on their colour
@@kittymitt458 they probably call it because of their simplified language. for example, in Japan, they call whites as white men and the same for other skin colors. And since they grew up in a country where basically everyone has the same skin color, I doubt they ever considered it as racist. Homogeneous countries usually use racist terms in religion or ethnicity, not skin color. I'm not denying there isn't racism, there is. But as I learn the language I notice how simple the expressions are. That is why I think its more of the grammar and less about actual racism.
As an African American I keep wondering what did black people do to the world to be so mistreated and disrespected by the world. The hip hop night story reminded me definitely of appropriation in Korean music and "style". You cannot take our culture and fun of it and not accept the people. I've always wanted to go to Korea, but hearing these stories makes me extremely angry. There would be no way I wouldn't have punched someone.
Asian are also discriminated by black in America. Every year there would be many targeted indoor robbery on Chinese restaurants and stores by black American. Compare to black on Asian crime, the number of Asian on Black crime is even too few to be discussed.
Masternim Nia not to defend racism in any way, but from what i've seen (at least in my country finland) is that there are way too many african origin people coming here and making the headlines because they do not respect women's rights, other people's posessions or life and people are angry because the state isn't doing ANYTHING. in finland the prison sentences are usually quite short (unless you steal from the state) and because of eu human rights and all the felons are not getting deported. people are afraid of blacks because of these people just like many are afraid of 6ft 250lb mountains because they could easily kill you if they wished and you never know with strangers.
Your dear Obama and liberal mediums at that time refused to comment on it, despite the fact that a single N-word can ruin anyone's career. Nobody gives a shit on Asian in America. Such is the reality Asian are facing. I'm glad I'm not American.
My heart dropped when she said the “n-word” ...why am I saying “‘n-word’” when I’m African-American?... See, I can barely say the word publicly yet other races used it fluidly.
I'm black and when I hear others use it my heart drops and I become uncomfortable ...when you learn the dept behind it and you stay away from it at all costs it hits hard when someone says it regardless of their race
mabf1953 Mabf sorry to offend you, but we weren't disregarding the video (which I am so glad they did bc of how annoying it is that this topic goes without discussion) I even made comments on the video earlier, I was just poking fun at Steve. no harm meant😊
It would be great if videos like these had Korean subtitles. I am an English teacher in South Korea, and I'm trying to make a lesson about diversity. It seems here if you have any hint of melanin in your skin, there's always something NEGATIVE to be said. I want show my students how to respond to people who look different in a POSITIVE way.
Yeah its a very sad situation. As a korean, i think this should change. In early 2000s there were a lot of satire book made in the left in south korea on how koreans have this hospitality to white people and being hostile to other people of color whether they are black indian or south east asian because of the stereotypes enhanced by movies, safari documentaries and foreign workers that are working in korea(some of us thought those people are poor and we are "feeding" them basically that they contempted them which is ridiculous in the light of what we faced during the 1950s). I think ignorance and first and foremost influence of american aid is the source of the problem.
Didnt realize such a westernized country is so out of touch. Arent they like the highest educated populous in the world? Seems they need some social teachings.
AgeDrain exactly! they probably take a lot of math and science like most countries. maybe a foreign language course. history: Japanese control, why Korea split, maybe communism in China. social studies: beauty standards, southeast asia are full of dark ppl (not pretty), Africa (dirty ugly ppl), etc. but I'm just on the outside looking in. but I do question what they learn sonce they have LONG school hours.
I really enjoyed this. My first encounter with racism was actually my mother(who is korean), where she told me that I couldn't hang out with my best friend who was black. Obviously I didn't really understand what she was saying, so I continued to be friends with him since. But the one time I did realize I wasn't like everyone else was in elementary school. Racism against Asians I would say is something that many people don't bat an eye at. Because of the way Asians are portrayed as, There isn't as much stigma to making fun of the asian kid, then lets say the black kid in the class. It's crazy looking back at those times, and realizing that Racism isn't something that you are born with. It's something that people teach you.
Ralph,* "But the one time I did realize I wasn't like everyone else was in elementary schoo"* , you see m doesn't this proves that asian kids see themselves as white inside ? that's your problem right here. You became complacent because you worked out like Elliott Rodgers that you feel more white therefore must be one. You wasted two valuable decades of activism on a small scale just because you drank white cool aid. Now you are semi-woke . But kudos to you for admitting your mother is racist .
Lechiffresix six No, it does not prove that the 'Asian kids see themselves as white'! Jews can and have been racist towards the Blacks! The Blacks have been prejudiced towards the Jews! Do they all see themselves as 'white' then? Of course, not! Nothing at all to do with 'white people'! This is the issue within their own ethnic group towards outsiders and their own negative preconceived notions about certain ethnic groups!
futurist 11 Agreed! And it's legitimately nauseating to see people applaud her for ignoring the problem and acting like it's a non-issue. Looks like "pick me!" syndrome. Racism won't go away if you don't confront it head-on.
The woman with the white headwrap has a point that, "You can get out of my country" argument is invalid because NOT everyone can just go all willy-nilly and leave a country, and I hear that argument a lot in the states where I live, and every time i hear that argument is irritating, usually that statement comes from the Older generation, and these stereotypes are also seems like its from the older generations too
OHHHHH my god people use "If you dont like it leave" comment for EVERYTHING. I dont like the president "You can leave then" I dont like the way POC are treated "You can leave then" I dont like our health insurance "You can leave then" This country does a good job at this this thing and we should learn from them "If you like them so much why dont you live there"
All of the speakers were extremely well-spoken. Although what ruined this for me was going to the comments and seeing all the salty-white male tears trying to invalidate the issues that the speakers were talking about..typical
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” How's it feel to be a racist?
Jeeeez. I'm only halfway through the video now, and now I'm not sure if, as a Black American, I'd ever really want to visit South Korea. It doesn't sound very friendly at all.
Payhole Everdouche cause people are people? And the worst people are those that don't openly express their opinion. An open racist is better than one that doesn't believe they are.
"If you don't like it, then why don't you leave?" My answer: The more people there are like you, the more you make me want to stay and change this country to the point where you will be the one to leave.
+tommy Long Yup.. as noble as the sentiment may seem, this really only validates nativists' fears. I'm sure op wouldn't say the same about North Korea, for instance.
tommy Long tommy Long Who said anything about colonization? There IS a difference between colonization and wanting to make change. The former requires an outsiders "forces their way of thinking to the natives." The latter comes from the VOLUNTARY will to change a society from those who grew up in it. Being someone who has a few(okay, more than a few) racist experiences in America, the only reason why I am not planning to move out is because there are Asian brothers and sisters that I have the duty to protect until they have fair representation in the American society. Until that day, whether I leave or not will depend on how old I become when adequate representation of Asians is achieved.
This is such a touchy topic for me. I' m a Black person actively learning Korean (and some other languages) and plan to be there for at least a year in the near future. I don't want to be discouraged by videos like this, but I don't want to pretend that Korea is some utopia either. I already experience discrimination here in the states but I wonder how bad it is in comparison.
Yeah, even though I dislike watching these videos(I know I'm going to be told "you should not be watching it then") I can become more aware of the issue with foreigners in Korea, and I'm black too, and I want to go to Korea, and I heard from a lot of Black Foreigners that Daegu is the most racist city in Korea.
we young generation is different from other generations. we do know how racism is bad. so please come to korea. we are not perfectly best country. but we are changed. we go forward. korea is dynamic country. we soon change our mind set. Thank you for your love in Korea.
TJ 티제이 i think 10~20s are alot more open then the older generation, and i mean alot. there is a huge mindset difference between the young and the old generation. but i do think that you need thick skin to be in korea.
I agree! As an asian myself I'd be livid if one day I just see a celebrity on TV mock my culture, physical appearance and race as they wear yellow paint or something. There's obviously something wrong and discriminatory about things such as black face which is why I don't understand why people, especially Koreans who derive most of their entertainment from black culture in the first place, can't be more mindful ....
I agree that blackface is racist, but can someone *honestly* explain to me why there's a negative connotation when you associate black people with food like fried chicken or watermelons?
robertshuxley Because it's considered traditional Southern Food. The Southern U.S. was and in some parts still is poor and backward. Essentially, it's an old, tired stereotype.
robertshuxley Another facet-- fried chicken was cheap, easy to prepare, and didn't spoil quickly, so it was a helpful inclusion in the diet of Black Americans before and after slavery. Also, many freed Black Americans found that watermelon was a relatively good crop to grow and sell (and a great addition to a malnourished diet), allowing them to try and make a living when whites wouldn't hire freed slaves. Threatened by any attempt at economic independence (see also: the Black Wall Street bombing), whites twisted this resourcefulness and self-sufficiency into a sign of laziness/boorishness (eaten with hands, spitting out seeds) and being "beneath" them, including it in minstrel shows, children's books, movies, and songs. It's pretty awful.
I'm sorry for your bad experiences and all as a Korean. Korea is actually morel like centuries behind in terms of multi-culture and immigration. We've been only us for long time even in the modernized city like Seoul. It would take time but I'd like to promise you things will get better. We're sure that's good for everyone living in this country.
I've met some really wonderful Koreans who have treated me very kindly. S. Korea is a great country and I think they'll embrace the world with time. :)
Yeah I agree S.Korea is definitely getting better as a nation I am of African descent and have also had a lot of amazing Koreans embrace me like a member their family it's so endearing. So despite unfortunate stories shared in the video, I know the country is changing for better, but it will not happen overnight their are still many challenges...patience is key.👌🏽
Korea is far better off as a homogenous nation. Multiculturalism and immigration is destroying these Western nations at the moment. Asia doesn't want any of that, whether you know it or not. Dont let the infection of minority victimhood and immigrant entitlement destroy your nation like it is doing to the West. Immigration among Asian nations aren't as bad since the cultures are similar, but if you accept immigrants from other completely different culture like Africa, you're asking for trouble.
At least you gotta give Korea respect for trying to address and have an open discussion about racial issues on TV. My Neighbor Charles is another great prime time Korean tv show that exposes struggles of many foreigners and minorities living in Korea. A lot of other countries try to hide their racial issues and act like everyone's getting along fine but it's all smoke and mirrors.
Other than racism, I would say that Koreans are distrustful and scared by foreigners. We had two Korean exchange students in our class in university and my professor asked "why do Koreans always stick together? Don't you have foreign friends back in Korea?" They said, and I am not joking "We don't trust them and they are also too different from us. We are not interested in hanging out with them". Oh well, good for you!
I don't know, at that point I was so done with Korean exchange students not wanting to engage/conversate with non-Asians that I was not interested in talking to them at all. I just found weird that they would say something like that in front of a university professor and 50 non-Korean students. I found people that are even more blunt than me loool.
I think that happens to many people from a culture that used to be invaded and domain dead by foreign forces, the people usually have a strong defensive and narrow-minded idea of identity .
Eli Ri I don’t know why you’d be so done with *all* korean exchange students, those are a few students. Anyway, if I grew up in a homogeneous country, where there’s not the brightest image of anyone of other races, I might not want to know them either. The way they worded that was very weird tho
I do agree their response was rude but we must keep in mind that they grew up within a homogeneous country homogenous meaning they see only their race most of the time. Imagine coming to a whole different country with different kinds of people. It can be intimidating for them since it’s not what they are used to. 🤷🏾♀️
I've been studying abroad here in South Korea for over three months now, and so far as an african-american I can honestly say that I, fortunately, haven't experienced any form of discrimination towards me so far and have been treated very kindly by pretty much everyone that I've met, both young and elderly. My university is located in Seonghwan, which is a more rural part of Korea, and here there are so few foreigners, so they are definitely curious and ask questions about what they see on the media. It's opportunity I have to allow them to experience a black person face to face and show them that the media only tells part of a story about a certain race. That there is more to it. I think a lot of Koreans are also very shy when it comes to having an encounter with foreigners. That's been the case for most of the friends and people that I've met here so far. I do encourage people of color to come to Korea and experience this beautiful country, because there are many people here who are kind hearted and very welcoming to people.
option B... by the way very informative video... thank you asian boss! for positively addressing issues on racism in Korea! I hope Koreans may see this light as well on a broader perspective!
Actually, this is a very good video. I believe this video made not only for Korean, but also for anyone out there who still judge and discriminate someone based on their "color". Personally, I had experience too in here in South Korea, I'm not what they call "blackface", I'm an Asian, but still some of them discriminate me based on my nationality. I totally understand with they who were in this video feel, it's hurt and hard to explain how painful it is. I know this kind of matter is tough issue, but I'm happy that there're a lot of people who have courage to speak up and thanks to Asian Boss who always make such an inspirational and good channel. Color discrimination need to stop because anyone can't be treated like that. We are all same, we are all human, because when we bled, we bleed the same color. So, what's the different?
I thought this video was very interesting and that the responses were well thought out and calmly expressed. I don't see way people are bashing the responses. Great video 🙌❤
It was interesting, not necessarily well thought out because these three just cannot get out of their American way of seeing the world. I would have liked to see more different perspectives, more African perspectives, Latin American perspective, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Bangladeshi and Philippine perspective, not only the same old tired dumb American racial dogmas that we have all committed to memory because Americans shove it everyone's face all the time. Even five years ago I still remember Americans on the Internet screaming at me "THIS IS AMERICA SPEAK ENGLISH". They didn't even know there is anyone outside USA on the Internet, and these guys are gonna be the ones now to lecture Koreans on being more aware of the world? :p I'm tired of American racial politics, and American perspective on everything. I would like to see other perspectives. Let Americans practice that inverted privilege pyramid religion for once and shut their oversized mouths, let other people speak without conditioning them with American viewpoint, American language, American politics, American categories.
Miki Cerise if someone is born in a certain place of course they're going to take whatever experiences they have had with them no matter where they go. it is unrealistic to ask for someone to just jump into the mindset of their new surroundings immediately. those Americans that you saw on the internet telling people to speak English are racist and do not represent all Americans. I understand that you would like to see more viewpoints on the situation and so would I. But let's not bash Americans just because some people were nice enough to share their experience with us in order to get a dialog started. These are real people with real experiences and I urge you to remember that they deserve to be heard American or not because discrimination is real and in order for it to be handled it needs to be addressed from all sides... yes even the American ones ;)
Yeah, don't worry we hear about American experiences alllll the time. Obviously we are all influenced by our experiences, but that doesn't mean we cannot be mindful of that. Americans talk about these things like Evangelists, like they have all the answers to everything and everybody needs to stop whatever they are doing and follow whatever is the latest American trend or position. Like this is all about "white supremacism" - how the hell do you know that? Because whites are dominant in America that is the only think Americans care about, they have no interest in problems of minorities in places where other groups are dominant, so that is the only thing the whole world can talk about - racism is whatever Americans think about racism. Seriously, I'm from Spain and I'm inundated already in this new American jargon/religion of privilege and "appropriation" and all the rest of it, as if Americans invented opposition to racism and to be against racism you must speak 'American'. It's tiring and it's tedious. Americans are not even aware that "white" and "black" not even defined the same way everywhere as in the US. They are so overbearing and domineering, and leave no room for anybody else's experience. Whether "liberal" or "conservative" they have this overzealous "pilgrim" attitude, evangelizing their politics and culture like a gospel. It was a breath of fresh air to hear Sam Okyere's perspective. Asian Boss is too focused on USA as the standard for things. What do you think of America? What does America think? Like we don't get enough of that by default. Let's hear about something else for change.
Miki Cerise I just wanted to say not all Americans are the same as the experiences that you seem to have had with them. Not all of them are focused on racism however that is what the video was about, racism. Also, you seemed to have said that Americans don't care about anything but racism and such and that is a lie. There are Americans who care about many other things however those things are not highlighted in media and it's not like the people who are fighting for it don't want to be heard but they just simply aren't in the lime light currently. You said this video did not cover other dark skinned people. No, it did not and that would have made it more interesting but you cannot blame that fully on the people watching the video. Perhaps the creater didn't think to asks other people. Perhaps they could not find other people who were willingly to discuss their experiences because these people seems very comfortable and open. Perhaps the creater didn't know that many people who could have had experiences and thought that asking strangers on the street would be prying too much or that they would not give enough detail because they would be on their way to something. Regardless, these are the experiences of these black people. If you want to hear more for other dark skinned people then maybe conduct your own interview or do some more research. Or try asking this youtuber or others to take on this task. :)
Miki Cerise thank you sooo much XD first person who spoke against this annoing amerincan point of view about race , and they pretend that all the world is like their country
"I'm gonna change the little babies that I teach" Yes! That's the perfect mindset to have. Racism is learned but it can also be unlearned. It's like when Sam was on that episode of "Return of Superman" and he met that one actor's kids. Initially they feared him and were hesitant to go near him but after he showed them that he meant no harm, they were able to open up to him and play along with him as well. Now, they may not be so quick to stop and just stare or make rude comments when they see a black person in the street. This is why I admire black teachers in Korea. They really are making changes in different parts of the country and when those kids grow up, they can teach their kids not to judge based on skin color and it'll be a never-ending cycle of educating and open-mindedness, which would be beautiful.
Wow I never knew that there's a term "blackface" and the origin of that term is quite shitty. And yeah when those comedians and mamamoo were blackfacing and it became a controversy in South Korea (oh btw that comedy show has been banned because of that, from what I know. Tell me if its a wrong info) I never could figure out why exactly it is a racism. I mean yes it would feel awful af if different race try to mimic you by putting black/brown painting but when I got that news I was just thinking "oh yeah that makes sense." and passed on that issue. But now that I learned why exactly its discriminating I feel like I should be more careful on every approach towards others when it comes to gender/race/etc. Thanks Asianboss and interviewees
Cal Kim I know Mamamoo apologized but the Korean comedian show didn't and tried to say what the blackface that they did wasn't offensive at all! Even other Korean comedians were pissed off about this statement. I really hope that the younger generations in Korea right now are getting their eyes opened and not being prejudicial (i think that's a word) towards not only black people but foreigners in general. I' m planning to live in Korea during my college years (I'm a freshman in high school) and I hope when Koreans see my afro hair and brown skin, that they won't run away and have a real conversation with me (I'm learning Korean rn so I'll be fluent when I go).
Thuy Linh Duong - But it's dumb how people put every single Korean person in one basket. Does Korea have issues to fix? Of course, they do. But what country doesn't have racial and discrimination issues? America being the most diverse country on the planet should practically have no racism, but in fact is one of the more racist country. We as people have a long way to go, but this whole generalizing thing is stupid.
If this interview is held in Vietnam, the situation might be worse I am afraid. When a country is so used to be homogenous, people are less tolerant towards differences. I think East Asia is moving forwards in this aspects.
Because just few years ago, S.Korea was not an international country. Now it is becoming an international country. Therefore you can't compare it with USA. Coz USA was established in a multicultural situation. S.korea has just started to deal with this. As a Korean I got SO mad at their experiences. I expect, that it will change and be better soon. Because every part of korean society is changing really fast.
@ I don't know how old you are, but the country you are talking about has been established for 243 years. For almost 100 of those years, it was legal to abduct people from a different continent and force them to work for you against their will. It was legal, and even common, to beat them, rape them and their children, and kill them if they misbehaved. It was legal and common to treat them as less than human and keep them in inhumane conditions because they were consider as 1/4 of a human, which at the time was a lower rating than that of an actual cow. No one deserves to be killed, whether it be for your skin color or not. No one deserves to die, but you are marginalizing an entire race based off of what exactly??? You claim whites were "abducted off of the street and tortured for TWO ENTIRE DAYS." Blacks were abducted from their motherlands and tortured for ONE HUDRED ENTIRE YEARS. You claim cops are "murdered by terrorists for being WHITE". Blacks were murdered for being alive while being BLACK. You claim that campuses that are free of "inferior whites asians latinos jews etc export black supremacist terrorism to other countries." For black supremacy to even be a thing, hit would mean that the black community would have to have a following, a platform, and power - the community as a whole has none of that. All races and ethnicities are allowed to attend these so called black supremacy schools, the reason they exist in the first place is because whites refused to let blacks come to their schools and get an education. Hence the creation of historical colleges that were made specifically for blacks to get an education since whites would not grant them access to that opportunity. I myself am white, I understand that some blacks can be bad people, but so can people from ANY RACE. There are bad people in every category or label that you can think up, and the reason for that is because you are making generalizations rather than actually paying attention to the individual. You see a few black people do something unethical on the news and automatically think "Oh, black people are bad." You are just saying that because that is the category that you chose to use as descriptors for that particular group of individuals. What if they were black and gay, would you say gay people are bad instead? What if they were white, would all white people be bad then? Groups of white people throughout history have done some pretty awful things, so why don't you feel the same about that race? That my friend is called racism. if you are going to speak on a topic as if it is truthful, then at least educate yourself first - ignorance is disgusting. That way history won't repeat itself. Good day.
You can try Tokyo Japan or Guangdong China where there are many other black people so locals know how to deal with it. Sometimes it is not they are aggressive but just don't know how to deal with strangers
Kai Thomason Of course, clearly blocking roads, smashing windows, and setting stuff on fire will solve the problem. Talking to nothing is a lot less destructive though, you'd have to admit.
Its alright man. Every country takes at least 3 big Ls but it doesn't mean that they are not worth being appreciated For example, japan is the most homogeneous country in the world, they have high suicide rates, and groping is a big problem (especially on trains) BUT they have one of the highest literacy rates in the world, they have organized communities with the schools in close proximity to all of them, the children walk home to school(health benefits),they have way helthier food, and god dammit their traditonal/spiritual culture can bring you to tears.
dyandra so true. As long as we have eyes to see differences, that proclivity will be there...doesn’t matter what culture we’re talking about. It’s our nature to identify differences (or similarities)...it’s our TRAINING that determines what we do with those perceptions. IMO
@dyandra yes!!! racism is a problem everywhere and I feel like people have such a perfect and positive picture of SK in their heads (which we appreciate so much) but unfortunately that's just not the case. just like every other country, SK has things to improve so please don't hate us for having flaws :) (not to say what is happening is acceptable and should not face backlash - but incidents and videos like this will help educate Koreans and I hope in the future the population becomes more accepting
mujjingun A lot of Westerners seem to dislike living in Korea. Some do, bust most enjoy visiting, but mostly Westerners seem to like Japan far, far more. Japan still has a lot of problems, racism included. You only have to look as far as the suicide rate in Korea to realize how bad things really are though.
Having Korean subtitles may help spread or educate more Koreans about the struggles and inequalities of any minorities living in SK. This roundtable discussion is very thought provoking and well done. Loved each contributing panel member. Explanation of the Reconstruction Era history was excellent. Positivity and their daily practice of understanding and kindness leaves me humbled. Kudos!
It's because of the isolation of Asians. Even in Nebraska Asians always isolate them self in the town. They create a little country in the city. A lot of them have been here for more than 10yrs and still don't know english.
Kareem Norain Many ethnic cultural groups do this! Around the World! The Whites do this, also, in African and many other countries! 'Safety in numbers'! Living in a foreign country is very stressful! This is how they cope! As well, as the people miss the familiar and cultural aspects of their own home/birth country! The elderly, in general, esp find it hard to learn a new language and customs! But, their kids and grandkids are the ones that adapt and progress in their new country!
Having your own community and not learning the local language doesn't inherently mean being racist. I've literally heard nothing in this video that a white, English speaking person hasn't said or done. Like the one lady said, you get that and worse in the States.
I think each Asian culture likes to feel that they are special and in their own exclusive club with their own language and you can't join the club if you are not one of them, like being Korean or Chinese etc.
Like I've always said, black people have it much harder than most other race on Earth. I love these kind of videos, That really shows people's opinions! But girl, always fight for your rights, even when people don't back you up. If you only give in, you give those hateful people to continuing hating on you. I will just say, if people really have a good heart and are a real good person! YOU won't hate on people just because of the color of their skin. Or make ridiculous comments without proof.
I can't believe you're so bitter lmao Just shut them down like nothing! 😂😂 But I agree, black people have definitely felt the brunt of racism and for longer, longer than any white person anywhere on Earth, that's for sure.
Holy shit, this video sent shivers down my spine when I heard the middle girl talk about having personal relation ships with people and finding out at the end that they were just using you. That broke my heart when I thought about how hard it must be to not even have the person who you may love care about you in a meaningful way. I am from Canada and I know no Country is perfect but here it seems like every body wants immigrants from any where and any back ground because we have lots of room and they help us all as a country to be stronger and as one world we all realize that people are people and if you show them respect they will do the same.
mastercilander what do you mean "no need"? he’s asking for subtitles so he can see and understand what they’re saying, not for your opinion on the subject lol
Thank you so much for holding this discussion panel. I lived in Korea from 2008-2016 and I experienced so much of what these young people have expressed. I wish that a platform like this would have been available to myself and other people of color from my time in Korea. I think we can all learn so much from each other if we were all willing to talk and listen to each other. I really appreciate this video and the work you do! 진짜 고맙습니다!
On behalf of all Koreans, I apologize for the insensitive behavior and decisions of Koreans who are uneducated and inexperienced concerning the history of blackface. To the 3 guests: I admire your courage for living in Korea and tolerating the ignorance displayed by many Korean people. You are making a positive impact in changing Korean people’s perceptions. Korea still has a long way to go, but as Korea becomes more diverse and interactions with non-Koreans are part of their daily life, I think these videos can spread a powerful message (especially if Korean subtitles are added)
I dont know much about the video of the korean woman with black face but If I remember correctly, the same thing happened in Japan too a few years ago. What happened is, in a tv show, a Japanese comedian made himself look like a black guy by painting his face black, and after a while, there were a lot of people on the internet that criticize the tv show and the comedian.I dont remember what happened after that but if I were a black person living in either korea or japan and watched the tv show I would have definitely been angry or depressed cuz it's like the majority of people in the country is making fun of black people and see them as a clown or something. This video was uploaded 2years ago so I dont know if these things are still happening but I really hope it will be much easier and less stressful for black people to live in Korea cuz they dont deserve any of the hardships they are going through.
as a Korean who's been living in America for most of my life, I think it's very eye-opening to see the parallels of racism in both countries. The progress of how much representation black people in America have gained is only proof of how racism towards asians in America and especially blacks in Korea can definitely be fixed.
this comment section. Someone can say black face is wrong. and you will have someone defend it. We speak about racism and no we are playing the victim. there are different posts videos as such for different conversation. this video is not about Brazil or Irish people. we ALL face different issues. stop trying to downplay or excuse what this video is about.
NOTE FOR THOSE WHO ARE CONFUSED: when she talks about “white supremacy” she’s not referring to white people in the US etc,, she’s talking about skin tone as in people with lighter skin. Some people refer to koreans as white people because of their skin tone. So no, it’s not about white people like in the US
I was in itaewon today and really wanted to talk black people Cuz I have no black friends. They're lovable and energetic. I wish I can have black friends seriously
Not all black people are energetic and happy. We aren't an accessory. If you want a black friend let it be because they're just someone you think is cool, not because they're black.
this topic is so interesting. I think this kind of interviews are really necessary and useful as it helps people understand and connect. That's what interNET is for in my opinion :)
Is there any way this could get Korean subs so that I can send it to my Korean friends? I think that's it's not reaching a major audience that definitely needs to hear this...
As a Korean person, It is really tiring to hear all the excuses from other Koreans when they do fkd up stuff to others and try to rationalize it. They always say "we don't need to learn about other culture so stop trying to educate us" but then when it comes to Japan-Korea related topic/issue they start 7 hours lecture and cry out loud the world needs to learn their history :( I can't stand my people's hypocrisy
The more and more i look at these videos...I feel like black people are like a mystery to people i really do..Im a Afro latina and let me tell you every time i visit japan ...its still interesting how they are curious about everything...More than any other race i swear we just are so mysterious to Asian people.
Question: For some of our future topics (e.g. North Korea-related topics and panel discussions), our videos are going to be quite long (e.g. 40 min) so which format would you prefer to watch (to the end)?
A. One 40-min video
B. Two 20-min videos (uploaded at the same time)
Two 20-minute videos. One 40-minute video would just be too long.
two 20 min videos
B
option B would be best

THIS NEEDS KOREAN SUBTITLES. Korean people need to see this. And watch. And then re-watch.

Oh they really dont, thankfully they dont have no asian guilt you can prey upon.
@@KokosNaSnehu2 I disagree.
can you please guys upload Korean subtiles ? I think that is necessary for korean ppl to have a certain perspective to these issues, with African Americans explaining it.
Anne-Sophie M Yes, that would be very good.
so true...isn't there a way for the followers to do the subtitles for a video
+
Anne-Sophie M ooh yes this is a good idea
Anne-Sophie M I concur.
She loves our culture but not black people
Yourlocal Black bean burrito then why is she’s married to a black man and have a kid with a black man?
@The MilkMan you can marry a black man and have a child with a black man and not be black, its called interracial dating-
Yourlocal Black bean burrito bro what. Yes she is. She is literally Dominican. 😂
the girl in the middle is soo elegant. makes me look at the way I carry myself :)
This was a group of well spoken and informed people that experienced SK first hand. I feel like I'm a bit more informed about what to expect as a black woman in Korea when I travel there next year. Good job 😊
Lunatic Panda huh??
ERC I'm going to assume you've spent time in SK and are a foreigner which is why you can say its not that bad. It's good to watch videos about others experience but I always try to take it with a grain of salt. I know I might not have the same exact experiences but I apreciate different points of views.
ERC this^^^^
so many people post about their 1 single negative experience and make a big deal out of it that people take it as "Oh this must happen often?!" .. But people forget that online you only see small bits of people's lives.
i'm also going korea next year but on top of being a black women i'm also a muslim
There should be subtitles, but also think about all of us who learned English as a second language, we do need to learn about this too.

We need more foreigners to go there to (for lack of better word) force them into learning that we aren’t wild animals.
i totally understand, i am not black but i alredy have that same opinion just for being a foreigner and being black i think would be worse
Why so scare they will not kill u 💀💀
I completely relate, I no longer want to live there, but i definitely still want to go there for a holiday destination
Wolvie Wolves you’ll still get disrespected is what she’s trying to say.
TAH-RAY .F so why do they worship the white man

@@unknownfrvr6767 we know that the treatment of black people is a serious problem but you're disrespecting koreans as a whole in return? They don't 'worship' white people. This is very offensive.

Flovonne Johnson OH MY GOD I’m so sorry this happened to you... I hope life gets better for you and I’ll pray for u and ur baby
I'm sorry this happened to you and it's because of those dumb stereotypes that's why :(
I've heard of many cases of people being sued over trying to help a person, but doing it not proffesionally and doing more damage. Wasn't it actually because of that?

As a Korean I would like to apologize for the ignorance in my motherland. I myself was born and raised in latin america, but as I saw the gag video of the black face, I found it funny. At first I didn't know the historical background that they explained in this video. But now that I see this, just wow... deep apologies.

+Koa Jinja your faith in the world is inspiring, thank you for those words :D
We can't just close our eyes. If I have kids in the future I don't want them to experience hurt or discrimination just because of the way they look. It's so tough because I can literally go anywhere in the world and still experience discrimination there is no place in the world I am safe from it. Even though it's less in some places. I really hope things change because when I have a child in the future I don't want to have to be telling them "you have to ignore racism" I wish for it not to exist
Sallie Andrea I still don't what to tell my child about racism, and how to deal with it
“What else are we supposed to call black people by then”
Me: *By our names..?*
What I was thinking. I doubt they go: hi big korean sister or brother. XD
Don't they introduced first then after knowing their names we go nice to meet you. We should include socializing in those long hours of class Korea have.
Korean people don't use name unless you're close to the person, even among themselves. This a feature specific to the language. So they use title until you become close to each other.
Anyway I don't like the title for black people.
AtypicalWeirdo EXACTLY 🙏🏽 AMEN BRO/sis

Nia Freeman I'd say a quick visit is fine. but living there long term will be brutal in the beginning.
eathenbad ...or maybe you could be a better korean person instead of being a jerk?

I think ignorance and first and foremost influence of american aid is the source of the problem.
her mentioning the effect on children was very important and insightful, especially the part of "can't even sit down and have a conversation"

@MattyBespoke what's wrong with blacks?
This is the issue within their own ethnic group towards outsiders and their own negative preconceived notions about certain ethnic groups!
ralph chamberlain 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Tony Smith How ignorant. Thats like me assuming all white people are Kkk members because I have met many racist and pro-white nationalist
Yes.rscism happens to everyone.i feel like the one against blacks gets spoken about mostly cause black are the minorities of the minorities?😂.
The woman with the black head wrap has such a healthy way of dealing with discrimination. Props to her.
Zurr J ikr! Respect
Does she? by ignoring it and trying to always take it in the most positive way?
because she's from Africa not America
futurist 11 Agreed! And it's legitimately nauseating to see people applaud her for ignoring the problem and acting like it's a non-issue. Looks like "pick me!" syndrome. Racism won't go away if you don't confront it head-on.
she is still treated the same though...
These people are nicer than I am cause the microaggressions they've experienced is too much for me to stomach.
Leila Leila
When you’re used to it, you tend to pay little regard to it and know how deal with it if the issue gets out of hand
Asian Boss stays creating great content
The woman with the white headwrap has a point that, "You can get out of my country" argument is invalid because NOT everyone can just go all willy-nilly and leave a country, and I hear that argument a lot in the states where I live, and every time i hear that argument is irritating, usually that statement comes from the Older generation, and these stereotypes are also seems like its from the older generations too
RPG Do people in the States say that? Lmao everyone is an immigrant, I don't even understand racism in a country like that
yes people say that in America ive heard it a few times usually from white americans (older)
OHHHHH my god people use "If you dont like it leave" comment for EVERYTHING.
I dont like the president "You can leave then"
I dont like the way POC are treated "You can leave then"
I dont like our health insurance "You can leave then"
This country does a good job at this this thing and we should learn from them "If you like them so much why dont you live there"
The states sometimes the younger generations(its very rare though) use that same card, but its mainly from the older generations
Same, my mother used to talk about her struggles o her clients and they'd always asked, "Then why did you leave your country"
All of the speakers were extremely well-spoken. Although what ruined this for me was going to the comments and seeing all the salty-white male tears trying to invalidate the issues that the speakers were talking about..typical
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
How's it feel to be a racist?
And not Africans swarming other countries in the millions and then proceed to whine and cry about every single time someone isn't nice to them
My day was ruined when i saw your picture Galena :(
@@virginiasupersand2917 lmao how is she judging she is literally just stating their race
"salty white male tears", this doesn't solve anything. This just perpetuates the problem grouping one side against another.
Jeeeez. I'm only halfway through the video now, and now I'm not sure if, as a Black American, I'd ever really want to visit South Korea. It doesn't sound very friendly at all.
you'll be fine especially if you're just going as a tourist. it ant that bad
You take it as is, just treat them like white Americans.
Claire Riri
I certainly hope not. I'd feel absolutely *awful* if I got rejected from a job because I was told "this job isn't for blacks."
Payhole Everdouche cause people are people? And the worst people are those that don't openly express their opinion. An open racist is better than one that doesn't believe they are.
Payhole Everdouche and my fiance is in Korea? Or do I have to go for the people and not the sites, scenery, or food?
"If you don't like it, then why don't you leave?"
My answer: The more people there are like you, the more you make me want to stay and change this country to the point where you will be the one to leave.
Joo-Hwan Jun what a wonderful answer
So basically you want to colonize their land and force them to your way of thinking? Because that's exactly what you just described.
+tommy Long Yup.. as noble as the sentiment may seem, this really only validates nativists' fears. I'm sure op wouldn't say the same about North Korea, for instance.
Please go to North Korea and never leave. Them motherfckers need change.
tommy Long tommy Long Who said anything about colonization? There IS a difference between colonization and wanting to make change. The former requires an outsiders "forces their way of thinking to the natives." The latter comes from the VOLUNTARY will to change a society from those who grew up in it.
Being someone who has a few(okay, more than a few) racist experiences in America, the only reason why I am not planning to move out is because there are Asian brothers and sisters that I have the duty to protect until they have fair representation in the American society. Until that day, whether I leave or not will depend on how old I become when adequate representation of Asians is achieved.
Well it’s probably the right time again for bringing Sam again and have a chat about Blackface incident happened in 2020
Right. I support this motion.
Please, please, pleaseeee provide Korean subtitles for this.
Arlenis B yeahhh.. so true... korean should know about this and stop being streotype.
TJ 티제이 Well they did mention that the guy almost got arrested once by virtue of being black, so at least we know the difference isn't that drastic.
TJ 티제이
Just learn to rap in Korean, and smear yourself in Kimchi.
we young generation is different from other generations. we do know how racism is bad. so please come to korea. we are not perfectly best country. but we are changed. we go forward. korea is dynamic country. we soon change our mind set. Thank you for your love in Korea.
TJ 티제이 i think 10~20s are alot more open then the older generation, and i mean alot. there is a huge mindset difference between the young and the old generation. but i do think that you need thick skin to be in korea.
"A Korean will never take your side" I felt the same way the entire time I lived there sadly.
Man the dude on the left sounds like Vin diesel LOL I mean close your eyes and then listen LOL
Nathan 😂😂😂
Nathan 😂😂😂
Ok now we're gonna have to make Sky play Vin Disel in our next skit lol
Ok now we're gonna have to make Sky play Vin Diesel in our next skit lol
Digitalsoju TV whoa... Yo Digitalsoju havent seen new vids from guys lately... why is that??
This broke my heart and opened my eyes. These people were so inspirational.
PLEASE PLEASE PUT UP KOREAN SUBS. THIS VIDEO IS USELESS IF KOREANS CANT UNDERSTAND IT
Blackface needs to stop😣
I agree that blackface is racist, but can someone *honestly* explain to me why there's a negative connotation when you associate black people with food like fried chicken or watermelons?
robertshuxley
Because it's considered traditional Southern Food. The Southern U.S. was and in some parts still is poor and backward. Essentially, it's an old, tired stereotype.
No it doesn't people just need to nut-up.
robertshuxley Another facet-- fried chicken was cheap, easy to prepare, and didn't spoil quickly, so it was a helpful inclusion in the diet of Black Americans before and after slavery.
You are the good people in Korea and i hope more people think like you!
We dont want fucking multi culturism. Protect our culture.
Don't you have foreign friends back in Korea?"
They said, and I am not joking "We don't trust them and they are also too different from us. We are not interested in hanging out with them". Oh well, good for you!
from the sounds of it you lucked out that those two didn't want to hang out with anyone else ._.
Your delusional. Stop calling yourself an African American. You aren't from Africa. You're American.
It's a pity Asian Boss didn't provide Korean subtitles for this.
I think the girl in the middle is Sam Okyre's girlfriend
she is :)
Patience Mulumba where is she from?
Ellen Korang Ghana
i'm jealous they're both such good looking people meanwhile i'm here being an ugly potato lol
Lucky her if she is....
option B... by the way very informative video... thank you asian boss! for positively addressing issues on racism in Korea! I hope Koreans may see this light as well on a broader perspective!
I know that this is from two years ago, but there needs to be Korean subtitles for this video. It's important.
Ironic since africa is the most racist continent
Rahmahwati Xiao your name is cool.
Pro File hahah
Pro File really? How?
Do Koreans think they are white? I thought Koreans are also people of color? Yellow isnt it? The lady in the middle is so elegant and soothing.
Thuy Linh Duong - Koreans don't think they're "white." I don't really understand why people think that.
james wee i think because people keep saying about how Koreans treat people of colors.
I think East Asia is moving forwards in this aspects.
white is a color too....unless ur are a invisible girl.
but of course they are not mean "white" but they mean "differ than Korean"
As a black man this makes me mad but I see. USA is actually pretty progressive compared to how they are treat in SK.
At least SK doesn't have sundown towns
....... where? We’re talking about the same United States?
Good day.
Honestly I’d take my chances in the u.s. 😂
I can forget about moving there...Ill just visit...smh
You can try Tokyo Japan or Guangdong China where there are many other black people so locals know how to deal with it. Sometimes it is not they are aggressive but just don't know how to deal with strangers
morotenQ I didnt say I was gonna be a victim.
As an Asian, I think you look hot
smh catcalling through the internet
Reminds me of the phrase: 'Asia is white man's paradise and black man's hell'. So apt!
Like the film, get out (if you can!).
Praying and hoping for racism to stop.
Diane Elizabeth yes because doing nothing and talking to a nothing will solve the problem
Kai Thomason Of course, clearly blocking roads, smashing windows, and setting stuff on fire will solve the problem. Talking to nothing is a lot less destructive though, you'd have to admit.
Diane Elizabeth give it another 50 years...and maybe there'll be more "growth"
doryfishie2 that was a bit too much
i like how all of them are wearing different stripes 😀
i dunno why but this made my day a bit better
So sad 😭 my love for South Korea just went from 100 to zero
For real 😭😭😭💔
Its alright man. Every country takes at least 3 big Ls but it doesn't mean that they are not worth being appreciated
For example, japan is the most homogeneous country in the world, they have high suicide rates, and groping is a big problem (especially on trains) BUT they have one of the highest literacy rates in the world, they have organized communities with the schools in close proximity to all of them, the children walk home to school(health benefits),they have way helthier food, and god dammit their traditonal/spiritual culture can bring you to tears.
Same
dyandra so true.
I lived in Korea for a year, don't recommend it to any person of color.
Mila Brunson not gonna stop me from moving there
I'm black and i lived in korea for over a decade and i loved living there.
Am Korean and lived here for 20 years, don't recommend it to anyone.
mujjingun A lot of Westerners seem to dislike living in Korea. Some do, bust most enjoy visiting, but mostly Westerners seem to like Japan far, far more. Japan still has a lot of problems, racism included. You only have to look as far as the suicide rate in Korea to realize how bad things really are though.
Wesley yeah thats my point
Having Korean subtitles may help spread or educate more Koreans about the struggles and inequalities of any minorities living in SK. This roundtable discussion is very thought provoking and well done. Loved each contributing panel member. Explanation of the Reconstruction Era history was excellent. Positivity and their daily practice of understanding and kindness leaves me humbled. Kudos!
when you said kpop group and bruno mars, i was like "Oh i know who you talking bout." We taught them and i would recommend everyone to watch this.
Oh my God I LOOOOOOOVE my BLACK colour . Proud and blessed to have COLOUR on my Skin!
This Needs KOREAN SUBTITLES
Like the one lady said, you get that and worse in the States.
acegeek ? Nobody said that?
Well America doesn't even have an official language so who cares what they speak.
ok? they addressed this in the video
I am a Korean and thank you for enlightening me! Great content Asian Boss!
Always wanted to go to South Korea, definitely going but not staying. These people have an amount of strength I just don't have.
This was such an informative video, with lovely speakers.
I think each Asian culture likes to feel that they are special and in their own exclusive club with their own language and you can't join the club if you are not one of them, like being Korean or Chinese etc.
The women in the middle articulated herself beautifully. Thanks for the video.
2b or not 2b
K....anyways, black ppl still face a lot of racism
I can't believe you're so bitter lmao Just shut them down like nothing! 😂😂 But I agree, black people have definitely felt the brunt of racism and for longer, longer than any white person anywhere on Earth, that's for sure.
2b or not 2b Said no one ever 🙄
2b or not 2b What white hate??
Holy shit, this video sent shivers down my spine when I heard the middle girl talk about having personal relation ships with people and finding out at the end that they were just using you. That broke my heart when I thought about how hard it must be to not even have the person who you may love care about you in a meaningful way. I am from Canada and I know no Country is perfect but here it seems like every body wants immigrants from any where and any back ground because we have lots of room and they help us all as a country to be stronger and as one world we all realize that people are people and if you show them respect they will do the same.
korean subtitle please
Who's Why Peepoe?
mastercilander what do you mean "no need"? he’s asking for subtitles so he can see and understand what they’re saying, not for your opinion on the subject lol
Learn english, oh wait, koreans can't speak english and has to go to a country
The African sister with black head-wrap is gorgeous! Wow. So beautiful! Reminds me of my best friend.
ADD KOREAN SUBTITLES!!!
It's super important that Koreans understand what is being said here!
This is a super important video and topic.
3 years later and we’re still having this conversation.....
Paul Paul just be friendly say hi :)
Not all black people are energetic and happy. We aren't an accessory. If you want a black friend let it be because they're just someone you think is cool, not because they're black.
What is "talking black"? There we go again, lumping everybody all together 🤔
Christina McKinnie i think the persons mother language is not english and that he Forgot to put the "to"
After hearing all these, korea is a country I would never like to visit
Great interview! Very informative!
They were so well spoken this was a great video and that lady in the middle was especially beautiful.
YES.
As a African American I always wanted to stay at South Korea or visit but by watching this video it makes me think twice about visiting this place.
this topic is so interesting. I think this kind of interviews are really necessary and useful as it helps people understand and connect. That's what interNET is for in my opinion :)
Is there any way this could get Korean subs so that I can send it to my Korean friends? I think that's it's not reaching a major audience that definitely needs to hear this...
@Chris Nguyen dudes surname isn't even Korean... go way troll.
this is such a great discussion im so glad that they get to share their voices
As a Korean person, It is really tiring to hear all the excuses from other Koreans when they do fkd up stuff to others and try to rationalize it. They always say "we don't need to learn about other culture so stop trying to educate us" but then when it comes to Japan-Korea related topic/issue they start 7 hours lecture and cry out loud the world needs to learn their history :( I can't stand my people's hypocrisy
Its so funny how they see us
Im not good at sports at
All
i cant even catch a ball!!
Disappointed? Yes. Surprised? No.
The more and more i look at these videos...I feel like black people are like a mystery to people i really do..Im a Afro latina and let me tell you every time i visit japan ...its still interesting how they are curious about everything...More than any other race i swear we just are so mysterious to Asian people.
Awesome discussion and awesome channel 👏 wish this kind of show was on national TV in Korea.
Incredible discussion! Such a bright panel. This should be played in class in schools and especially to the TV producers making such shows!
I love how they laugh things out
I want more people to see this. 😕
