Phenomenal singing. Phenomenal artistry. She deserves all the praise she is currently receiving. To all the people who say they prefer a ‘more dramatic voice type’ for this role: this is redundant criticism. Try to assess performances based on artistry not on voice types or fach systems. I probably shouldn’t say this, but I’m guessing this sort of ‘voice type’ based criticism comes from a particular landmass/demographic...
Smaller, lighter voices often sang the Queen. For instance, RIta Streich and Erika Köth. Here's Rita Streich, one of the smallest, sweetest, Queens on record: ruclips.net/video/1nZFolQjf6Y/видео.html
@@MrAristaeus Here is one of my favorite queens, but I may have a bias, because I've sung in operas (well, one opera, one concert performance, and one New Year's Eve gala; not the Magic Flute, alas) with her. ruclips.net/video/Iw6XKHvF-YQ/видео.html And this is a curiosity, but IMHO quite an impressive one. ruclips.net/video/lLmcHO3fn6Y/видео.html
@@ColonelFredPuntridge How exciting!! Sabine Devieilhe is my favorite soprano. Although I enjoy her performances when she looks like herself more than any others (as she is beautiful). It must have been quite an experience to have worked with her.
Everyone focuses on the second (coloratura) part of the aria. O.k., that is the flash. But truly LISTEN to the slower "intro"; THERE is the essence of the tragedy of Mozart. Achingly and heart-breakingly sad and beautiful: the power of music.
Velvet and satin in the first part, and shine in the final. It's beautiful. Good command of vocalise 59 rating in 6 seconds from 4'10 minutes. The melodic magic phrases "fa ré la# fa ré ré#" et "la do la fa la la #" is perfectly transcribed, like a spark. Sabine DEVIEIHLE in the future will be the world renowned soprano. Tha onion on the head kind of kills it for me. But if I close my eyes I fly away. She's very good. Those last 2 minutes are truly magical. She is makes a very sweet QOTN.
Who really care what she wears on her head!!!!!!!!!! Her performance is stunning. Such stupid comments below. If you dumb commentators were musicians you would see the sheer beauty of this!
Only in Roberta Peters' version do we see the queen paused (for conscious about her own lying) when uttering Bösewicht twice. This version is also nice, being poetic.
As with other commenters, I prefer a dramatic coloratura in this role. However, she is technically wonderful with a voice of great quality and even all the way up to the top notes. I would love to hear her as Gilda, Lakme, possibly Manon [the Frensh one] which would better fit her lyric coloratura.
+Daniel Ramírez de Gastón I've hear old records (even mono ones) and the pace is generally much slower. I wonder why since Berstein things sped up? Can you recommend a slower version of the Magic Flute? Thanks in advance.
David Marquez I really like Simone Kermes's timing of this piece (from her version on the "Bel Canto" CD), plus she has a gorgeous voice. You can find it on Spotify, :)
Excelente.
@@blissinchains No. Just on opera ones that Diana Damrau has done since she is always best!!! No one compares!.
Bon, bref. Merci.
Wonderful singing! But what's with the onion crown? Diana Damrau dresses like a broccoli and now we have an onion head. I guess these producers are trying to remind us to eat veggies!
i always find it unearthly when someone actually sings the f, like with vibrato, not just the note. My admiration!!!
What a gorgeous set! And of course divine singing as usual.
She does a superb Job, Brava Sabine. We admire and love ya

the onion queen sings so beautiful
She's brilliant but the visuals are great too!
Ok, she killed that.
love that stage! and for me.. i like fast queen, fast coloratura.. so for me its just real queen is in the house!!;)

To cover up such a lovely woman should be a crime especially in this dreadful style.

La REINA DEL COSMOS!!!!!
MOZART INASIBLE....HIPERGENIO....GRANDIOSO...FULGURANTE...Y ESTA REINA LE RINDE HONORES!!!!FELICITACIONES!!!!
I love her
Sublime!
Excellent performance!
She could’ve been an alternative version of the White Witch from Narnia
woooowwww....
Very correct superb coloratura that F!!!
perfect!!!

Bravaaaa 👏👏💕🔥
My favourite part 3:37
Beautiful voice and great technique. However, she is a lyric coloratura and I just prefer a dramatic coloratura in this role.
I prefer lyric coloratura. It is something else. And softer.
If I sing twinkle twinkle fairly well, I feel like I am genius. She is lekker.
Robert Lee, Countertenor 9
La meilleure!
Queen of the Onion
Made me search frantically for the Konigin der Nacht Benchmark performance - Natalie Dessay)))
Wow....nice...
Hmm, seems a bit on the fast side for me. Excellent coloratura though, one of my favourites in that regard
The ridiculous things they keep inventing for the queen to wear on her head!!!
That's an antenna for better signal reception at night
I'm still team Brocoli.
I am always loooking for the gayest Queen of the Night EVEEEERRR!!! RuPaul, You better work....... jajajajajaj

fast is better
David Marquez Because Bernstein was American and Americans always want things fast. They cannot stop and smell the flowers along the way.

elphaba aint got nothin on her
She said twice, wrongly, "ein bose wicht . It is ein böse wicht. How come this happened?
Because those dot things fell off the page and landed back in the dark ages.
Tilda Swinton as the white witch vibes, anyone?
