Hi everyone, thanks for listening! I've updated the description to include a Google Drive link to download the soundtrack. I uploaded it in a few formats, but reach out if you need anything specific, I'm happy to help! and lemme know if you have any requests for video game soundtracks that could use a little bit of love! this project was so much fun to work on. thanks!
I was just looking to download the PS1 soundtrack for this game and stumbled across your Reddit post for this restored version of the entire soundtrack you did. As an audiophile I really can appreciate the effort you put into updating the quality of the music!! Ape Escape was one of my fave games as a teen and I always enjoyed the soundtrack for it. I'm now 42!! Thanks a lot for doing this!!
@@Pakomal omg yes!! primordial ooze may have been the original inspiration for this project. that song and that stage are maximum nostalgia for me, and yeah! that arpeggiating synth is totally absent in the other versions! so sad. thanks for listening :)
LOL, I just opened the game up in an emulator, maxed out the sound resolution settings, and then manually recorded each song from the game's sound test debug menu. I would NOT trust myself (or anyone) to rip the MIDIs out of the game and try to find sounds that matched the original. So this is just the original music, sounding its absolute best!
true! that is an awesome track. I missed most of the cutscene music and the minigame music too. might do those in a separate upload. The tracks that I did for this video were the ones that were accessible through the game's sound test in the debug menu.
Also question, is the Ape Escape soundtrack like, tracker music or sequenced in a similar sort of manner to tracker music where the PS1 is playing back the samples in real time as opposed to just playing back an audio file? Always been curious about this
yeah, as far as I can tell its all sequenced like that with MIDI and the PSX soundcard, which probably lends a lot to the aesthetics' of this version of the music. It's pure synthesis lol. there weren't audio files on the disc (the only ones i found were for cutscenes), so I captured all of this audio through the game's debug menu, played back in real time.
I think you're looking for 01:44:49, "Stadium Attack" (I just used the sound track's names). I'm not sure if its the same song that plays in his boss fight though!

Thank you for making this! Love this game's music
Ive never heard that sweet keyboard on Primordial Ooze, just knowing the soundtrack from Spotify and the PSP version.

Nice! How'd you go about ripping the soundtrack? I imagine setting the correct instruments for the midis was hard

If possible, I would like to see a remaster of the songs from the Ape Escape on the Loose version.
I could give it a try! do you enjoy the "On The Loose' version of the soundtrack more than the PlayStation version?
@@drenched.0224 thank you very much! I love both the PlayStation version and the On The Loose version!
