I love these images of the Smith River along 199. It takes me back to my days living in Cave Junction and traveling that route to my haunts in the redwoods. Thank you!

Ahhh all that Serpentine lining the river that is worth $10 a pound. Can't wait to come back down there and collect some. First time in my life I've actually seen the gorge that close. ❤
I had to ask Dave to refresh my memory but him and my brother, Jeff Holcomb and Jeff Evans went down that gorge on inner tubes and almost lost their lives. My brother's entire toenail of one of his big toes came off because it scraped against a rock. Dave managed to climb out onto the rocks to safety. What a bunch of idiots 😆😆 I bet you have a story 🫵
Yes, that’s right dogs have to be kept on leash at the ones they are allowed on. Now I remember. I do miss strolling through those beautiful hikes. Thanks for responding
