Thank you! I just came home from work today to a fire that happened. The smoke damage was the worst part. It was a blessing my dogs survived. I pray that State Farm will take care of me here in Texas. My home did not burn all the way down. It was the smoke that destroyed nearly everything. With that said, how and what do I let go of? Meaning, what do I save and trash?
I’m so sorry that I missed this comment earlier somehow! I hope that by now State Farm has visited and written their first estimate, or has maxed out your policy and issued a payment. If not, I would expect a payment to be issued very soon. Hopefully they have already reviewed their procedures with you on what to keep or not. Anything that is not salvageable or repairable should be replaced. Of course you should document everything as best as you can before getting rid of anything. Take detailed photos and keep all records, no matter how minute or how you got it… even if it was notes you scribbled on a napkin… keep it. Also… watch more of my videos and videos by other creators on RUclips. There is a lot here! I’m also SO glad about your pups! I have two dogs and I cannot imagine the feeling! Any advice you could give me or my subscribers here would be most helpful. That’s how you can turn something bad into something that helps others. Find ways to help others in the future who are experiencing what you are now. God bless you my friend. Keep your head up. Much love. 🙏💖👊😉
@Chad Michael - The Practitioner , Thanks for the advice! Sadly, one of my dogs had to put down because of the smoke inhalation. State Farm is giving so much for housing allowance, basically an apartment until my home is completed. I have a personal property allowance and then a construction allowance. Hopefully, the labor costs don't eat up my separate allowances. Blackmon Moring packed up what they believed could be cleaned and moved all the big items to the dumpster I rented. So I wouldn't incur the 20% mark up from Blackmon Moring. I also rented a storage container so I could place in it what I wanted to keep and clean myself. This is a hard process, especially letting go, because you CAN'T save everything! I wish there was an easier way to do the inventory. It's hard to think of everything you lost and what you'll need when you get to move back in. State Farm has a separate app for entering daily receipts for food, fuel, and dumpster and pod rentals. The app helps get you money paid to your banking account quicker. Then there's a separate inventory collaboration website that State Farm has for you to enter your lost items. It's harder to use when all you have is a cellphone to enter the inventory. This is a slow process, as well as a mental and physical task when doing it alone. I recommend staying prayed up and reading The Holy Bible each day for a spiritual uplifting.
That’s probably the best advice I’ve seen anywhere in my comments, brother. So very sorry about your dog. 😭🥺😞 In spite of everything, you seem to have an amazing attitude and spirit about the ordeal. Keep your head up. Look for His plan in all of it. Much love, my friend. 🙏🙌💖
@@InsuranceRestorationTraining I also own my home outright. I believe I know already but please explain how this is an advantage. I do have replacement costs but I do not want my personal items cleaned yet am being forced to do so. HELP!
@@fieldtrip8965The advantage to owning your home outright is that you don’t have to involve your mortgage company in your rebuild process. When you have a loan on the property, the mortgage company has an interest in the property. So they have to be added to any checks that are issued for repairing the DWELLING/STRUCTURE. This does not apply to checks issued from your personal property limits or housing expenses. Those go directly to the named insured. Every mortgage company has a process on how they handle insurance claims checks. Typically, if it’s a large loss(let’s assume over $50k in damages), the mortgage company will take the insurance check and place it into a restricted escrow. They will issue you a check from the restricted escrow so the work can begin. They will need updates throughout the renovation process to issue more payments. I hope your claim went smoothly and your smoke damaged personal items were replaced.
Thank you for this video. I am in a similar situation. I have State Farm renters insurance and my apt caught fire dec 1st. I was able to retrieve most of my valuable belongings thankfully, mostly water, smoke, mold damage. But last night my apartment got broken into and other things I meant to take photos of for my claim were stolen. So now I have two claims open. Oh boy.
This man had to disrupt his life and seek third-party education in order to achieve some semblance of proper indemnification for a life-shattering loss he sustained. He deserves his GC O&P for sure.
Chad!!! This is one of your former students, Eric Kaufman. You won’t believe this, but my house caught on fire a couple days ago! Gonna be a large loss, could use your help!! I don’t have Facebook anymore, how can I reach out to you?
