My significant other hallucinates and all I can do is standby and watch as they become terrified and I can't do anything but tell them to ask for help or even talk to me about it... They are opening up to me a bit now and I love them so much and show so much sympathy to others who have to go through this... To everyone: Stay hopeful and persevere.

I have been suffering with paranoid schizophrenia for over 22 years. My symptoms started when I was 18 but it was a number of years later before I started to accept treatment/medication. I have had a few positives during this period but overall it has been a terrible illness and the I feel my quality of life is very poor. I think the worst part of it for me is that I have tried to keep it a secret especially from people I work with and I am constantly worried about them thinking that there is something wrong with me. My confidence and self esteem is very poor and the only way I get through the day is through gritting my teeth on the bad days..... Anyway thats enough of me complaining.... Great Video!

Your illness is not who you are.It does not define who you are.You are brave and intelligent. Schizophrenia is more and more thought to be a physical illness much like other physical illness. You work, you comply with the medicataion and it makes you feel somewhat better. There are many experimental treatments going on now and everyday they are making strides albeit slowly. One day the illness will cease to exist. Hopefully in your lifetime.

I had an audio hallucination yesterday I heard my father screaming our cat's name as if it was just killed, then crying started from both of my parents. I started feeling sick with anxiety and had to go to sleep to feel better.

I am trying to write a feature length screenplay about a man who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, but I want to make sure that I try and do my research so I can respect those that suffer from these conditions. If anyone is interested in reaching out to me please reply to this comment. Thanks and thanks for sharing your story Juno!

i remember having voices of my self talking stuck in a loop in the head that took years for the loop to break as result of alcohol combined sleep deprevation. as i once got drunk in my earlier days of life to the point of speaking garbled, nonsensial, and the word instead of comming out as words they came out as nonsense as istead of me heaing my own words to corrct any speech error, the words took a closed loop in my head and got stuck for years. it took 4 years before the loop was broken and the partially garbled words came out the nomal way and everything turned to normal.

Hi GachaStars, it's common to think that if you hear voices you must have a mental health problem. But research shows that lots of people hear voices and many of them are not mentally unwell. But if you are worried about the voices, it’s best to talk to your GP about them. We have a guide about how to find the words to talk to your GP about mental health that you may find useful > www.mind.org.uk/youandyourgp
We also have a lot more information about hearing voices here > www.mind.org.uk/information-support/types-of-mental-health-problems/hearing-voices/#.XbCB0ZpKiM8 take care, Cora at Mind
