Danny Chats Ep34 features special guest Stasja Ilic.
Stasja was diagnosed with Wilson's Disease just six months before filming this chat with me. She tells me how she was studying in Barcelona but flew back to Serbia, where she was born, to go and see a doctor.
Stasja had noticed that she was not her usual self, and when she spoke to the doctors, they sent her for an MRI scan.
The scan results came through via email, and it was a massive shock to Stasja and her family. Initially, the doctors had said she was having Brain Atrophy.
After talking to a family friend who was also a brain doctor, he told Stasja to get a second opinion to be sure. This was the best advice because this was not the correct diagnosis. After some more investigation, Stasja was told she had Wilson's Disease, which to her was a huge relief.
Wilson's Disease is something that can be managed with the correct medication and lifestyle, so Stasja was happier to get this diagnosis and not have Brain Atrophy.
Stasja has now set up an Instagram page called @Copper.giiirl, and she wants to raise awareness and help support other people who have Wilson's Disease.
