Thankyou so much. I've been trying to get 360 picots for about a month and I can't manage it, hopefully with these tips I should learn so cheers. Also really like the video quality. Nice calming music and soothing voiceover, felt very pro!
Really nice tutorial Ali!! Very clear explanations of the key mechanics, with a good use of slow motion and freeze frames to further illustrate the moves. Thanks very much for this!!
An endo tutorial by the endo master himself! What else could we ask for!? Really helpfull tutorial Ali, i can do a little bit more than the 180 pivot but i endup going over the bars before i land the 360. I guess my body position is waaay forward! Ill send you some clips of me trying the 360! Cheers Ali been waiting for this tutorial!!!
Really well explained and some great video editing there pal. Well done! Your tuts are really helpful for some of us noobies getting into trials. Thanks man, keep em coming.
2 ounces of whiskey finally got me doing not only endos but 90 degree pivots, suddenly in one night after a year of struggle. I realized the difference was my body not going suddenly rigid at the balance point.
Yes for real. Because when you become 40 you start to think it's physically over. But after watching your vid, I saw it as a way for my old ass to not only get out there riding with my son but to look cool doing it too! A lot of joy comes to me as I'm (attempting to) swinging myself around on my bike. Also very inspiring to my son! Very liberating. Thanks for the inspiration!
Ali doesn't run bar end plugs, but he is a professional and he recommends that you run them. As a youtuber if you can get the bar to go through your leg on camera, it's worth it.
Ali, you da man! You make it look too easy. Thank you for breaking it all down into "baby" steps, as this really helps us understand the weight distribution shifts and all the changes in the laws of physics present.
If I could like it twice I would 👍👍 thanks so much Ali! Just being able to watch how you do it in slow mo is a huge help! Well done and keep the videos coming!
You explained it on every way possible. First tutorial I've seen from you, and I'll now check if you have more, because you didn't leave anything untouched. 10/10 Now I just gotta get my ass on the bike and try!
Such a cool intro Ali! Loving it :) Also thank you so much! I’ve been struggling to go beyond 180 degrees on my front wheel and this has helped me already :)
More please. I have no trick skills. I've been trying to do a 90 endo on my Road racing bike but I cant get more than 1 inch off the ground. It's that pre loading part and the turn of the bars before I get the back wheel off the ground that I never figured out before! Waiting for summer to give this a new try! (Canada eh!) I got a mtb now with disk brakes and I cant wait to give it a new attempt. If I can get it I'll be sooo stoked. More stuff like this for beginners please ( 52 and still trying to look cool).
Excellent tutorial! The only thing my broken ribs from 30 years ago would add is to make sure you keep the front brake engaged until your body weight has shifted back past the vertical axis on an endo. When I accidentally let go of the front brake once while far over the bars, the bike zipped out from under me and dropped me right to the ground, hence the ribs. I guess my advice is to be mindful of body position in relation to braking.
thanks for the video. I've actually been trying to do 180 endos for years, but have never made it all the way, best I've done is maybe 135. But I'll try to get over the front bars a bit more, I think that's where I'm going wrong. Maybe I'll even do a video and show you where I'm at.
Hey Ali, thanks for the awesome video, great edit and music! Can you think of any drills that would take one closer to acquire the skill? A drill or two for a how to might make sense for the beginners. Looking forward for you upcoming videos! Cheers!
Old video, but still useful! I'm trying to do 180 pivots off a ledge. I notice that I hold the rear brake during the pivot, while your wheel spins free. Could this be the reason why I usually land off-balance?
Ali Clarkson I could always do it kinda. But I bin practicing using my body and looking with my head at where I wanna go. It's bin working out a lot better.
Ali Clarkson looking with head at where you wanna go is probably the easiest thing but I never thought about it. So that's a big help. Plus I just got wider handlebars on my bike which I think helps out a lot more with controlling the bike
This is a great video! Wondering if you're able to do one handed 180 or 360 pivots (lead-in as well). I play bike polo and doing 180 pivots is an essential skill. I think you would have a very useful perspective.
Ali Clarkson pivot to left went OK need do more so comfortable doing it. 360 pivot didn't go to we'll. I get about 220 then stop. Think need more psi in tyre and less grippy tyre as could hear it grabbing the floor
is it a good idea to reverse the position of the brake levers on a trials bicycle for moto trials riders? for me it comes stock the opposite, I see yours is like a motorbike, and the rear brake instead of the clutch.
It depends what country you’re in, in the UK we have brakes moto style as apparently it’s safer for indicating when on the left side of a road. I’d say just use whatever you’re comfortable with
I've only recently unlocked the 180 somewhat. I am now trying to get better at it but I am still confused on how to move the bars while doing the pivot. Mines just lock in place everytime.
Thanks Ali! I've been struggling with getting from an endo into the pivot, and the turned wheel at the beginning was the step I was missing. I'll be giving them a try after work (it's only 10 am on the west coast of the US).
Not yet, but I have more confidence with Endos. I didn't really have much time to practice over the weekend, took a day trip to Lopez Island (part of the San Juan Islands in Washington state, over in the US) since the weather was spectacular. Definitely will be practicing today.
Hey I love your videos, I’ve been mountain biking for a while but I can’t seem to get the bike up some ledges on the trail. Any tips to get the bike up? Also how would you recommend getting into street riding? Thanks
I tried this last week with my MTB. What everyone forget to say is how strong your arms have to be to hold your whole weight :) Now my elbow hurts for over a week :(
Hi Ali. Great video as I am now trying to do endos on my mtb. Do you mind sharing the artists and song names of the music you used in the video, as it was awesome? Thanks!
That's the best endo and pivot tutorial I've seen. I can do a small pivot on my road bike. My aim is 180 only but is it harder to do on road bikes? I cannot lift the road bike as high as you did.
total noob here, just found this channel and was wondering- how do people usually get into this sort of stuff, in terms of bikes that they own etc? I'd imagine a lot of these guys did a lot of bmx stuff before? Also, what type of bike is it that ali has? cheers
Thank you so much Ali. This is exactly what I want to learn . 180 is my target and I repeat and repeat again nowadays. Everytime I go out to ride, I practice 180 with my full suspension bike. It is really hard to me. I got the some point(that is what you said common mistake...:) I do have to put my weight directly over the front axle) with this video, I'll do that. And could you leave more information about how much(strong) do I hit the front brake and its timing?
id say you want to pull the front brake hard (fully lock wheel) during or just after the downwards compression before shifting your weight forward and over the bars
Hey Ali, I have a weird question for you. Really hoping you have an answer haha. I am after an orange hardtail, crush or p7. And I live in Ireland ... Could you recommend best place to check online. Also, if you know anyone selling second hand for roughly 1000, please let me know ;-) I am after a nice xmas present for myself lol
After watching that, I've tried to practice pivot 180(I use a hard tail). And I have two problems. One is I usually only turn 90 degrees. The other continues the last one, which is I don't fully understand the power to pivot the bike is using the power that continues the end0 or after the end0, use hip or feet to turn the tail or the power before 90 degrees and after 90 degress is different. Give me some advice, please!!
it is so hard to get the 360 front pivot, everytime i need to jump on my front wheel in order to finish that ''pivot'' 360, i know it is not, but if i dont jump on my front wheel, i usually land 270 degrees and slam my back wheel onto the floor...
Man, you make it look so easy.
Because it IS easy.
Started trying this a few months ago and it was just yesterday that I've been consistently doing the 180 with the whip back. Thanks Ali!
What exactly is preloading?
And how far can you go now?
That 540 pivot was really impressive 😍
yes
Heftig
Thankyou so much. I've been trying to get 360 picots for about a month and I can't manage it, hopefully with these tips I should learn so cheers. Also really like the video quality. Nice calming music and soothing voiceover, felt very pro!
I don't remember if Ali said it in the video, but trying them going up an incline can make it a little easier. Maybe it helps you.
thanks for the tip, ill give it a go.
Will do
Maybe a Rear Wheel hop Turorial?🙈
Yes please!
@aliclarkson Okay Thanks Dude!
Did my first 180 pivot today .. gave me a good confidence boost after not riding for the last 15 years .
Really nice tutorial Ali!! Very clear explanations of the key mechanics, with a good use of slow motion and freeze frames to further illustrate the moves. Thanks very much for this!!

Always hard not to do that for basically any tricks, body always goes rigid
Such a big help buddy I've upped my 180 pivots to 270 the first time on bike after watching please keep it up,
You just taught this old dog a new trick!! Thanks you literally saved my life! I mean seriously!
Yes for real. Because when you become 40 you start to think it's physically over. Amazing skill and brilliantly explained. RUclips so needed this tutorial. This is my winter project now.

I like your 'how to' videos. After a 10 year long break from trials, these make me want to build a new bike and get back on. Subscribed, keep it up!
Such a cool intro Ali! Loving it :)
Also thank you so much! I’ve been struggling to go beyond 180 degrees on my front wheel and this has helped me already :)
I guess it was your best idea to do tutorials. You are the born teacher 😁😂
More please. I have no trick skills. I've been trying to do a 90 endo on my Road racing bike but I cant get more than 1 inch off the ground. Thanks Ali. More tutorials please as you have inspired me an others to start trials we need to learn all this stuff
Cheers Ali!!! 360 Pivot here I come. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Good tutorial Ali, really well explained with good freezes in the video to emphasize your points.
Cheers Ali another great vlog even though I can do 180 and 360 pivots it was good to see how a trials rider does it thanks
lol almost sounds like as if you´re rapping to the beat...good vid!
Great vid. It worries me that you have no bar end cap lol.
thanks for the video. I've actually been trying to do 180 endos for years, but have never made it all the way, best I've done is maybe 135. But I'll try to get over the front bars a bit more, I think that's where I'm going wrong. Maybe I'll even do a video and show you where I'm at.
ali could you do a video about bike setup.(bar angle position, levers gearing ect) im having trouble mainly with bar & lever position... thank you.!
Hey Ali, thanks for the awesome video, great edit and music! Can you think of any drills that would take one closer to acquire the skill? A drill or two for a how to might make sense for the beginners. Looking forward for you upcoming videos! Cheers!
Cool! Great instruction--now I just need to actually get out and work at it! Cheers Ali!
Thank you for teaching me!!
I'll try it.
Amaizing ! I’ll never be able to do this .... and both sides !!!!
Always very informative Ali!!!! Phenomenal!
I love your tutorials they are very detailed but still simple . Hopefully I will be able to get a used Planet X trials bike soon
Thanks a million Ali! I love all your videos!
Looks like I’m gonna have to try the 360 out.. looks sick Ali.. thanks... 🤙🏽
Great video :) Can U use a mountain bike for some of the tutorials :\
I would love to see this on a mountain bike chairs m8
Thanks Ali, great video. Think I'll wear my full face helmet while I practice this. :D
wonderfull tutorial. it would be great if you could make a video of comparison 26" trial bike vs 24" street trial bike with you riding on both.
I think the Vlog56 is what you are looking for!
ruclips.net/video/M_kZA8Uio-8/видео.html
nope. i want hard core trial bike 26 vs street trial bike 24
How to Up to Front or how to downside Foot Jam Whip would be really cool
LOVE your tutorials!!! keep em coming...
Old video, but still useful! I'm trying to do 180 pivots off a ledge. I notice that I hold the rear brake during the pivot, while your wheel spins free. Could this be the reason why I usually land off-balance?
I don’t think it makes too much difference, I use my back brake if I’m doing it off a drop
Nice! I get my parts for my bike tomorrow I guess I know what Ima be trying. Got the 180s almost mastered
Ali Clarkson I could always do it kinda. But I bin practicing using my body and looking with my head at where I wanna go. It's bin working out a lot better.

Great tutorial; great music what more could you ask for?

Great video, I wish you would make a video on G turns
I think i have something to learn tomorrow.
Great video!
Best tutorial for this
Going to go out and learn how to pivot to the left and try 360 pivot tomorrow after watching this video :)
Ali Clarkson pivot to left went OK need do more so comfortable doing it. 360 pivot didn't go to we'll. I get about 220 then stop. Think need more psi in tyre and less grippy tyre as could hear it grabbing the floor
Ali Clarkson was running at 25psi but may up it and try again
Such a great video buddy. Really useful
Love the tutorial vids .Hopefully this will help when I’m well enough to ride.
Been wanting to learn these for a while, thanks for the tutorial!
I assume the break control and knowing when to release/pressure makes or breaks this too? (Pivots)
Genial ali! Voy a intentarlo. Muy valiosos los videos!!
This is awesome man step by step 👍
Hahhaa helm Ali 'rent this space' sentence some sarcastic😁
Ali, you should do more of these vids.

great video Ali!
Really help build bike control and balance points. Thanks for sharing....B-watchin
Great tutorial Ali :) Impressive pivoting :)))
This Is such a good looking skill
Huge help thankyouu so much Mr perfectionist😊 #teamAli 🙌🙌🙌
Thanks Ali! I've been struggling with getting from an endo into the pivot, and the turned wheel at the beginning was the step I was missing. I'll be giving them a try after work (it's only 10 am on the west coast of the US).

Your best tutorial video but when do you apply front and back breaks?
:) edit back in 2024, best endo pivot tutorial Ive found.
Hey I love your videos, I’ve been mountain biking for a while but I can’t seem to get the bike up some ledges on the trail. Any tips to get the bike up? Also how would you recommend getting into street riding? Thanks
I tried this last week with my MTB. What everyone forget to say is how strong your arms have to be to hold your whole weight :) Now my elbow hurts for over a week :(
can i do these all with 27 hardtail? you are super awesome and very helpful!
Is the brake timing for a pivot the same as for an endo? I've seen people say to brake later for a pivot...
Thanks, Ali!
Very Nice Tuto!!👌🏻
Bigger wheels + longer bike = more effort required.
Awesome vid mate. Cheers! Scary!
New fan man...more how to please...
well, I've been waiting so long for that! 🚲😁
Oh, can you do a tutorial on 180 drop offs/rock walk drop offs?
Great tutorial, thanks ali
Great video,well done
Man you are just the best!!!
total noob here, just found this channel and was wondering- how do people usually get into this sort of stuff, in terms of bikes that they own etc? I'd imagine a lot of these guys did a lot of bmx stuff before? Also, what type of bike is it that ali has? cheers
Ali Clarkson cheers, thanks a lot man!
It's like a bmx with disc brakes
It’s the front wheel turn that I can’t get. I’m assuming it’s slightly easier on a trials bike than an mtb bike?
Thank you so much Ali. This is exactly what I want to learn . 180 is my target and I repeat and repeat again nowadays. Everytime I go out to ride, I practice 180 with my full suspension bike. Thank you for your Tip mcfly10146, full brake makes me nervous whenever I attempt. You know ...fear about OTB, But I would and have to commit :)
big wheels, suspension and a not very steep head/fork angle all make it harder..
Yes right! hard to control and expect suspension movement.
This tutorial really helped!
How much easier is this to do on a trials bike vs a trail hardtail mtb? I don't have access to one so I'm curious.
What kind of bike is that and what size? Are the breaks cable or hydraulic?
Great video mate !!
hey from 6.01 - 6.12 your voice is like rapping ☺
After watching that, I've tried to practice pivot 180(I use a hard tail). And I have two problems. One is I usually only turn 90 degrees. The other continues the last one, which is I don't fully understand the power to pivot the bike is using the power that continues the end0 or after the end0, use hip or feet to turn the tail or the power before 90 degrees and after 90 degress is different. you don't necessarily need to pivot past 90*, you just need to carve back out of it. then you fakie out.
it is so hard to get the 360 front pivot, everytime i need to jump on my front wheel in order to finish that ''pivot'' 360, i know it is not, but if i dont jump on my front wheel, i usually land 270 degrees and slam my back wheel onto the floor...
thank's Ali
Best video ever
thx, very good tutorial!
How do you pivot on the back wheel
He'll Yea,
6:00 endo baby 🚵🏁🏁
