Young people have no idea how comfortable a car can be unless they are lucky to come across one of these. It's too bad no one wants to make a car like that anymore.

Back in the day, I worked on a ton of those C body Caddies, as they 1st came out in '77. Usually steering parts, shocks, starters, alts, some power accessory failures, stuff like that. Caddy sold lots and lots of this same basic platform in various trim levels. If 1 is looking for one, the best advice is to stay away from the Diesel and 4.1 V8 equipped cars. The much more common Olds 307 is gutless, but runs forever. In late 88, they started to phase in the Chevy engines, 305, and 350s with TBI and upgraded the trans from a lazy 200-4R to a 700-R4 . That combo made for a bullet proof drivetrain. The interior was largely unchanged throughout the cars' lifetime. Surprisingly, the build quality and fit and finish were actually pretty good for its time. As you stated, these cars were QUIET. GM paid very close attention to acoustics and improved them several times during that body style's run. They even experimented with several tire brands until the settled on the most quiet tire money could buy. By the end of its run, these were some of the most luxurious, most quiet cars in the world. As time went on, GM also used better paints and more use of galvanized steel panels to help prevent rot. The leather they used was among the best in the world and a heck of a lot more comfortable than those used in Europe. Though the car didn't handle worth spit in corners, it was never meant to. In 1990 through 92, the optional trailer towing package provided the car with bigger rear drums, a host of fluid coolers, a little more rear gear at I believe at 3.08 with or without posi, and hd suspension. If you can find 1 of those with the 5.7, it's surprising spritely for a car that was over 4400 lbs. When I see one of these Caddies on the road today, they bring back fond memories of the old traditional American full sized luxury cars, which I miss.
I used to roll in a white '92 Brougham. That car was the EPITOME of pimp. Loved riding in that. Went from that to a '98 Deville, which I also loved, but there's always going to be a special place in my heart for the land yacht that the "Bro-Ham" was.
Although basically a dealership ad, this almost watches like a car review without all that gooey, smelly dealership cheese and stereotypical annoyances. I appreciate that. Good job, Bub.
The '92-93s were the last of the generation first designed for 1980. By that time GM had refined and improved the car to the point it was the absolute best it could be. GM had long moved on from the horrid V8-6-4 and HT4100 engines they came with through '85 and equipped these with bulletproof 307s and 350s. Chassis and suspension upgrades over the years made the '88-92 models the absolute smoothest of all of them. I would never hesitate to buy one of these if I had the chance. If you just do basic maintenance and take care of it it really is a car that can rack up 200,000 miles. At 36,000 this one isn't even broken in yet!
The only thing better than the car shown? The d’elegance version with the pillow-top seats and equipped with the 5.7 liter L05 engine! This is a true Cadillac, though, not like the tiny, cookie-cutter, hard-riding, “sporty”, euro-clone classless crap they put out today. The Escalade is unfortunately the closest thing, but an SUV still can’t quite compete with the ride and elegance of these sedans. It’s too bad, too, as a new version of these land yachts could have power and fuel economy only dreamed of decades ago.
David Pysnik We owned a ‘59. I passed my driving test in it, including parallel parking. Fine for driving sedately in a straight line and being noticed when arriving. Handling was not legacy Cadillacs’ forte.
@@darrellsmith8050 This car is awesome, and I am sure it's a pleasure to drive even with the 5.0. But quick acceleration would definitely not be part of the experience!
I like many commenters here always loved these large luxury boats. My first car at age 16 was a 72 Delta 88 Royal and my second car at age 17 was a ‘73 Fleetwood Brougham with the giant extended chrome grill and goddess. Omg sis that car scream king of the road. And I followed every model Caddy after that. Imagine being in High School with a Like New condition Fleetwood. My teachers were jealous and they let me know. I worked very hard for that car LOL. The gas was $70 a week at 99 cents a gallon and a 27 gallon fuel tank. I was always driving it good thing I had a good job. Great Video!
The 1992 Brougham was the last "real" Cadillac before GM killed it off. GM is always making stupid decisions, that is why the company has been half bankrupt for the last two decades.
Don't get me wrong, this is a stunningly beautiful car... but I think the main reason they stopped making them was because this car was waaaay past its sell-by date. Cadillac was basically selling a 1977 Sedan De Ville as a 1992 Brougham.
I had this back in 1994 and have had many luxury cars since and I can honestly say it is the only car I wish I had kept! Only mine was white with blue diamond tufted leather with buttons
My father owned one for several years that he loaned me to drive for a few months after I left the USN back in 93. His Cadi was white over white with a royal blue fabric landau top and a huge sunroof. It was a BEAUTIFUL car. A 8 person couch with wheels with room for 4 in the trunk.
my uncle had one of these back in the day. it was such a treat to ride in.. had digital mpg display (had never seen that before) power everything, even power close trunk.. and a fan that would pull cigarette smoke out through the back.. so cool to see when i was a kid
Very nice, I always liked Lincoln Town car from the 80s but this is very nice. I remember when these were new. This body was used for 12 years, that's how popular it was.
I absolutely flipped when I saw this. I thought it was my moms car but her Brougham has a sunroof. She has kept it in the garage since my mom and dad bought it in January of 93. It was the last major purchase they made before my dad passed away in 96 so it has amazing sentimental value. Her car only has 17,211 miles on it and it’s in incredible condition. The only thing that was wrong with it was the power antenna stopped working so she got it replaced and it works perfectly. Previous Cadillacs had rattles and squeaks that I’d hear every time I’d get on the road but her 92 Brougham is a solid mass. Just silky smooth driving. It’s the last of the really full sized American luxury boats.
Gorgeous. I have owned seven of the 90-92 Broughams (and several more pre 90 models). I always loved the 91-2 for the simple fact that the CCR (cruise command ride) tightened the steering at highway speeds. All of the 5.7 350 cars did around 24 mpg highway. The 5.0 305 still has decent pulling power and would easily do 28 mpg highway. The 4bbl 5.0 307’s were awful. 13 mpg. 0 power. Aside from a little bruising on the rear bumper/reflector and an aftermarket power antenna replacement, this thing is PERFECT and in the best color combo.
I agree with David - if only it had the 5.7 350 instead of the 307 Olds motor... Either way, though, you're better off than with the aluminum HT disasters. In fact, you're not "rockin' it", you're "Rocketing it" with the Oldsmobile V8! 80> Also, I don't think I've ever owned a Lincoln or Cadillac with paint THAT NICE... Now can we just agree that the world has gone horribly wrong, and we need to rewind back to 1970 & start over?
I loved this generation of GM C platforms. This is a beautiful car. I was not a fan of the composite headlights on the Cadillac. I thought the quad conventional lamps looked better. One of my all-time favorites along with the Buick Electra and Olds 98.
I thought that was a b body car I do know the crown vic and town car both share the panther, but I'm sure the c is a derivative and thus similar to the b body
@@renj6531 The C body has a longer wheel base. The B was used for the "family car" models like the Caprice, Delta 88, LeSabre and Bonneville. The C was used for the longer and more luxurious 98 Regency, Electra, and DeVille. Those cars had more leg room in the back.
@@WillBravoNotEvil It would have been when they stopped production of the RWD B-bodies. After that, the Cadillac was really on its own since there wasn't anything else to compare it to. I believe production of the bulbous Caprice/Roadmaster/Custom Cruiser wagons ended in '96 so that would be the last of the comparables with shorter wheelbases.
When Lincoln redesigned the Town Car in 2003 thr hood ornament came back which I don't know why but I've always liked hood ornaments on cars why I like my 2006 Town Car.
One of my customers gave me the privilege of doing some mild work on his 91 D'Elegance. You talk about style and comfort. The steering was frightening! It was so smooth and precise that you could steer by blowing on the steering wheel almost. It was in pristine condition.
Some people want more, not just a little bit. This is your life and your the only one who’s living it. Let’s go, let’s live, let’s love every mile! The only way to travel is Cadillac Style!!
My first ever vehicle was in 08', a few years after high school ended for me. It was a 1981 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham V8-6-4 with 33k miles and I got it for $500 cash from my grandpas co-worker who had it in a garage for who knows how long. Awesome car, would have kept it too if I had a better job at the time and could afford $5 a gallon for gas in 08' with 7-10 MPG.
Cadillac lost its way when it tried to make a better German or Japanese car but failed miserably. The Northstar engines were a disaster and pretty much every model after the 96 Fleetwood was never a real Cadillac.
Northstars wouldn't have been a problem if folks knew how meticulous you have to be with maintenance. Yearly coolant flushes, 3,000 mile oil changes and you'll never have a problem.
The funeral home my Father was at for 40 years always kept a fleet of similar cars in their fleet as family cars for funeral processions specifically for the way you can't feel the road with the cushy ride. Fantastic cars, I'm looking to get one next year (edit) I'm hoping to find one of the factory lengthened ersatz-limo ones
It might ride nice, but there's no way it could beat the Cadillacs of the 70's. I was raised in them as a kid & I will never find a car that can compare to the soft ride of a 1973 Fleetwood Brougham. We'd take her up to 100+mph & ride her all the way to Florida. :D I'm more partial to Mercedes now, but Cadillac was my first love. :)
These old Cadillacs were beautiful and distinguishable from other cars on the road. Now almost every car seems to have a universal body style. I can barely tell the difference between a Chevy Malibu and a Hyundai nowadays :-(
"Brougham and Premier" are model names much storied in GM history. In Australia GM Holden used "Premier" as their second-in-line to the top model and "Brougham" as the top model in the '68-'70 model sequence. "Premier" was the longest-used nameplate from 1962 to 1970. I once owned a '69 Holden Premier...beautiful car.
My dad had one of these in the 90s same color and everything. I remember listening to Pearl Jam and it sounding amazing. I think they had 8 speakers in that model.
In my opinion best last Caddie was the 1979 model, I had a 2 door coupe deVille, 425 cast iron big block 4bbl car, Turbo 400... Last of the big blocks for Caddy... If I had one today I would probably do a overdrive trans conversion and update some engine items for more HP, but not get ridiculous... I owned mine for about 8 years in my late 20's early 30's and did like it even though it didn't fit my age group! lol... It didn't break down or be an econobox POS like so many others had then as new cars....
I had a '91 deElegance, white with burgundy top and interior. Best car I ever had. I had people yell to me, while driving, "How much for it!?". Wish I still had it.
The best example I've seen was a 91 with black Sapphire on blue sapphire and D'Elegance package. Fully loaded with everything including Royal Seal tires still full of 1991 air. Odometer read 5600 miles. Of course it wasn't for sale, just saw an article about it. It had a neat history
It sits like a 5.7 liter. Those always rode a little higher in back than the 5.0 due to heavier duty springs for towing. Gorgeous car, they don’t make Cadillacs anymore as far as I’m concerned.
I like especially the Chevy power train… the venerable 305 [ L03 engine ] throttle body fuel injection coupled with the 4L60 [ MD8 ] transmission. My brother has a' 91 year model that he's been driving for the last 20 years. With 289k miles on it & still going strong. All origto inal never had anything done to the engine other than coolant pumps one alternator & 2 radiators plus regular maintenance; regular oil changes, filters & tune-ups.
Perfect color. I plan to eventually buy one, I'm just getting my Lincoln Town Car Signature paid for. I've found one exactly like this recent months from this same dealer if not mistaken, which I think is in Illinois.
Now this is a Cadillac, not today's crap they build. I know I am a former 80's Fleetwood driver and the DTS I had was crap and not a Cadillac is essence. It was a total let down.
Caddy made garbage from like 85 to 2010, the only good thing about their lineup in the mid/late 80's was the brougham and they eventually killed it too. They're great now though.
I agree even with the Escalade, do you hear people say, I have a Cadillac, or do you hear people say I have a Escalade? You cant even say Cadillac when referring to the Escalade.
@@keonjenkins1852 That's not a fair statement, look at the Mustang, Corvette and Camaro. Nobody puts the brand name in front when talking about them because the car name is so iconic. I drive a '14 Caddy CTS and when people ask what I drive I just say "A Cadillac". The name still has wow factor, it's still considered a sought after and lucrative brand.
I would baby the heck out of a car that is that clean. Very rare to have a car in the condition that it's in. The owner definitely kept in the garage under a cover.
You realize that dash board sans the digital display, knobs and pedals and door trim / light / handles and shifter pretty much the same as they were on the late 70s Cadillac’s
The only thing my black on black '07 DTS has over this is auto start, heated steering wheel, heated & a/c seats, and hp. Oh! And the factory system. This '92 is gorgeous.
I see the the antenna is aftermarket as they always broke in about a year or so. There seems to be a piece of the reflector missing in the back bumper on the right. Too bad it's not a 5.7 liter, but beautiful car.

When I see one of these Caddies on the road today, they bring back fond memories of the old traditional American full sized luxury cars, which I miss.
Adam Trombino it reminds of my ‘85 Buick Riviera 307 v8 Rochester 4bbl Quadrajet Carb....the most beautiful car I ever owned.
I remember the tow package having a 3.73 rear end. GM was serious about the towing capability of these things.
305 didn't come online until 1991. 5.7 was an option in 1990-1992
i have the 425 its pretty slow
I used to roll in a white '92 Brougham. That car was the EPITOME of pimp. Loved riding in that. Went from that to a '98 Deville, which I also loved, but there's always going to be a special place in my heart for the land yacht that the "Bro-Ham" was.
Although basically a dealership ad, this almost watches like a car review without all that gooey, smelly dealership cheese and stereotypical annoyances.
I appreciate that. Good job, Bub.
what a beauty.if someday I'll Leave my wife for a caddy it would be for this one.
THESE WERE THE CARS!!! like riding on a cloud, and as quite as a whisper.
David Pysnik. To large of a car not to have the 5.7 engine I wouldn't buy one without it.
David Pysnik
We owned a ‘59.
I had the chance to buy a super clean '92 d'Elegance with the TBI 5.7 about 10 years ago for $4k. Didn't have the money. Still kicking myself.
Those d’elegance seats were the most comfortable in automotive history!
These things are gonna rocket up in value over the next 5 years
A stunning survivor!! WOW
It’s even more stunning in person.
We had the best cars in the world and we let them go, never to be made again.
The 1992 Brougham was the last "real" Cadillac before GM killed it off. GM is always making stupid decisions, that is why the company has been half bankrupt for the last two decades.
In the fifties and sixties you had, yes. in 1992 that time was long gone
@@Blackadder75 70s too, and then they started smoking crack at GM.
I like 91 alot better white with burgandy interior
I had an '88 Fleetwood Brougham for years. I sure do miss it now. I could drive that thing all day and not even feel fatigued afterwards.
A car that is more popular now than in 1992. That's why Cadillac stopped making them.
Don't get me wrong, this is a stunningly beautiful car... but I think the main reason they stopped making them was because this car was waaaay past its sell-by date. Cadillac was basically selling a 1977 Sedan De Ville as a 1992 Brougham.
@@danmccarthy4700 tutte le auto sono belle anni 60 70 80 ma la cadillac
e la coppia della lincoln
I had this back in 1994 and have had many luxury cars since and I can honestly say it is the only car I wish I had kept! Only mine was white with blue diamond tufted leather with buttons
I had the 93 model and drove my family around. My two young children could never stay awake in the car it was so smooth.
My uncle had a brand new 79 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham he let me drive it one time ! It was like floating on air
My grandfather bought one in 1996 and he still has it, its a beautiful car
Beautiful Cadillac, very comfortable safe luxury cars. I have own several Cadillac, very enjoyable vehicles
Is it true the 1991 Cadillac brougham with the 5.0 motor suspension is softer than the 91 brougham with the 5.7
my uncle had one of these back in the day. it was such a treat to ride in.. had digital mpg display (had never seen that before) power everything, even power close trunk.. and a fan that would pull cigarette smoke out through the back.. so cool to see when i was a kid
BEAUTIFUL . . . . JUST PLAIN BEAUTIFUL!! THE BROUGHAM AND THE FLEETWOOD WERE VERY NICE BACK IN THE 90'S. CADILLACS TODAY JUST DON'T LOOK AS NICE.
Recently got my hands on a 91' Hearse again. She's done 280000 km and drives better than any new car I've ever driven.
I just bought a 92 eagle caddy hearse...lovin it!
Now that's my kind of car. I have always been a Cadillac fan
This model in specific has always been my favorite classic car ! It's just great proportions
Hey matthew so if im in the market for one of these what year would u tell me to go for if gas mileage is my priority?
I’d suggest a 91-2 5.0 (305 ci fuel injected V8)
I drove a lot of miles in a 1992 Brougham professionally in the 1990's
It is an amazing motor vehicle.
Absolutley AMAZING! Been on the hunt for one! 😁😁😁😁 Thanks for posting and taking us alomg fie the ride! Brought back great memories fwhen i was a kid!
I agree with David - if only it had the 5.7 350 instead of the 307 Olds motor... Either way, though, you're better off than with the aluminum HT disasters. In fact, you're not "rockin' it", you're "Rocketing it" with the Oldsmobile V8! 80>
Also, I don't think I've ever owned a Lincoln or Cadillac with paint THAT NICE...
Now can we just agree that the world has gone horribly wrong, and we need to rewind back to 1970 & start over?
1990 was the last year for the Olds 307 so this must have the much better fuel-injected Chevy 305.
I believe the Town Car had a longer wheelbase too.
Alexander Crump Do you happen to know when they stopped making the Fleetwood Brougham wheelbase a couple of inches longer?
@@WillBravoNotEvil It would have been when they stopped production of the RWD B-bodies. After that, the Cadillac was really on its own since there wasn't anything else to compare it to. I believe production of the bulbous Caprice/Roadmaster/Custom Cruiser wagons ended in '96 so that would be the last of the comparables with shorter wheelbases.
My Late Father Had One Just Like This One. It Was Pleasure To Ride In.His Cadillac..
My mom had one of these when I was a kid. Her's was in that 90's GM red with the matching red cloth interior. That thing was such a boat.
Some people want more, not just a little bit. This is your life and your the only one who’s living it. Let’s go, let’s live, let’s love every mile! The only way to travel is Cadillac Style!!
I used to drive this car through my teen years, however mine was a 60" stretch limousine. Same exact car. Awesome ride.
I totally agree with agree with you. I own a 1985 Fleetwood limousine. 6 door. That was a caddilac.
Nah. my CTS has balls, handles good, looks unique and sharp
Northstars wouldn't have been a problem if folks knew how meticulous you have to be with maintenance.
Yearly coolant flushes, 3,000 mile oil changes and you'll never have a problem.
Goes back to the original Seville.
@@brianchapman8531 that still doesn't fix the head gasket issues and the oil issues. The engine is refined but is built like crap.
Beautiful automobile. I don't know, but those older Cadillacs have something that other luxury cars JUST DON'T HAVE. Cheers from Canada !
Thumbs up to that badass Cadillac
And 27 years later people buy a Prius. I would call that a downfall.

How do you not fall in love with this car just by looking at it?
The funeral home my Father was at for 40 years always kept a fleet of similar cars in their fleet as family cars for funeral processions specifically for the way you can't feel the road with the cushy ride. Fantastic cars, I'm looking to get one next year
(edit) I'm hoping to find one of the factory lengthened ersatz-limo ones
It might ride nice, but there's no way it could beat the Cadillacs of the 70's. I was raised in them as a kid & I will never find a car that can compare to the soft ride of a 1973 Fleetwood Brougham. We'd take her up to 100+mph & ride her all the way to Florida. :D I'm more partial to Mercedes now, but Cadillac was my first love. :)
You Can Drive it On A Long Trip In It Won’t Feel Like A Regular Trip It’s The Boss of its Class 👑
These old Cadillacs were beautiful and distinguishable from other cars on the road. Now almost every car seems to have a universal body style. I can barely tell the difference between a Chevy Malibu and a Hyundai nowadays :-(
I’ve been watching your videos since the Chicago days. Excellent as always...
Back when Cadillac still knew how to make great luxury cars. A true land yacht.
OMG it's Chris from Chicago Motor Cars from back in the day. I used to watch you all the time, glad you're still doing auto reviews
That’s The Most Beautiful Car Build In America Hands Down . If That Is Not Understood In Time They Will Wake-up
My dad had one of these in the 90s same color and everything. I remember listening to Pearl Jam and it sounding amazing. I think they had 8 speakers in that model.
Sofa on wheels... This lady from the 90s will never get old.
STUNNING!
Simply beautiful!
Mista Butterworth
Heavy car. Springs sag. We owned a ‘59. Had shocks replaced with those having booster springs.
>Mr. Butterworth: 91 a heavier duty ride package was standard. The whole powertrain was an improvement over 80's models.
nice car
Stunningly beautiful 'lac. Even better doughnut in the GTA at the end!
Who else thought this was a Regular Car Reviews video?

Me
I like especially the Chevy power train… the venerable 305 [ L03 engine ] throttle body fuel injection coupled with the 4L60 [ MD8 ] transmission.
These cars are so big the driver arrives first and the passengers get there 2 seconds later. Lol 😂
I REALLY WANT ONE OF THESE!
I totally agree!😀 And I am from England uk,, London. Always loved. American cars. Much better then European cars! 50's 60's 70's some 80's an 90's.
Gotta love that Cadillac!
It’s Like A Escalated Feel Before Its Time . I Will Do A Escapade Upgrade on The Fleetwood
The only thing my black on black '07 DTS has over this is auto start, heated steering wheel, heated & a/c seats, and hp.
Oh! And the factory system. This '92 is gorgeous.
There's another bonus to the hood ornament; it's handy for navigating :)
I see the the antenna is aftermarket as they always broke in about a year or so. There seems to be a piece of the reflector missing in the back bumper on the right. Too bad it's not a 5.7 liter, but beautiful car.
I don't know why this makes me think of Goodfellas when I saw it lol 😃
Beautiful car! Unlike anything else on the road.
One of my favorite body styles
Lately there is a.couple hundred finest broughams ,driving around
I’ve always wanted a car like that!

The authentic Cadillac Style
Wow! I'm so happy to see the owner didn't want the Dealership's name badging on trunk! On Caddy's, this is an exception to the norm.
