Many great Buddhist saints and Acharya from the Nalanda university used to pass by the Kantipur during the Lichavi dynasty and before.They used to spend months in Kantipur for climatization since they were coming from Maghad (former Bihar) India on the way to Tibet.Kantipur has history of great Buddhists hub in ancient time. It is true that native of Kantipur (Newars) has it's own name for Baudha which is called Khasti.Majority of Newars of Kantipur used to be Buddhists, and some tilted towards Hinduism when Jaysthiti malla destroyed many Viharas and made Vikhus and Vikhunis to get married with force during the Malla dynasty.There was a deep oppression on Buddhists and on Buddha dhamma overall during the reign of Malla dynasty and Rana dynasty. For the note, However in the 21st century,Tibetan refugees and Himalayan tribal people like Sherpas,Yolmos,Gurungs,Tamangs played significant role to make Baudha popular pilgrimage.Even Bhutanese people come here every year to pay their respect.Many Rinpoches and Bhutanese monarchs have donated to make Baudha what it is now.After the 2015 earthquake, Nepali Buddhists community and international Buddhist community donated for renovation and reconstruction of Baudha.It was not Nepali government whatsoever.

How can you talk about Bouddha's origin without mentioning the original name - "Khasti Chaitya"? Also, the fact that Bouddha has an Ajima (Newar pre-vedic mother goddess temple should be talked about. Newar Buddhists played an integral role in Tibetan Buddhism. Even Tibetans learn about the Licchavi princess Bhrikuti taking Newar artisans and Buddhism to Tibet. Most people in Nepal unfortunately don't know this. Call it what it is - Khasti Chaitya.

We know it as Khasti which means dew drops in Nepal bhasa. It's said there was drought when it was being built and so dew was harvested for water. Hope you research this as well.

It’s true that Buddhism was in Nepal before arrival of Tibet but it’s also undeniable truth that after coming of Tibetan in Nepal Buddhism thrive more.

I don’t know about the kings story but what I know is once my grandmother told me small temple was built by one Tibetan women on her way to Bihar, tso pema, etc to pilgrimage and now India Nepal . She was so deemed to think in better way using her idea making skin into thin strips of thread hence circling huge plot of land and the higher caste see her that situation and told king why u r giving such huge land to a lower caste lady and king told them he told her already and couldn't take that words back so stupa was made and to finished its holiness she asked one if her son to bring buddha tooth from India and that was later installed inside that stupa ..from that there was also next story of buffalo used in building stupa and the crow at roof which ll be related to rebirth of tibetan empire and king...ll tell u if someone interested ☺☺☺

Your Vlog is good but you didn't mention the benefits of going there at Boudha Stupa. The great Boudha Stupa is meant to built for liberation, whoever see, hear or touch, will get liberation in this lifetime ,if you practice Compassion well or will get liberation within few lifetimes!.

Your Vlog is good but you didn't mention the benefits of going there at Boudha Stupa. The great Boudha Stupa is meant to built for liberation, whoever see, hear or touch, will get liberation in this lifetime ,if you practice Compassion well or will get liberation within few lifetimes!.
