Here's the WA that shows if your kick is in range! wago.io/eFy47RDEf To change it to a spell other than kick, change it in the Trigger tab and also change the spell ID in the animations tab to your spell's (find it in the URL of your ability at wowhead!)!
I love seeing this! My friends thought i was crazy for playing focus target in M+ and i told them these exact reasons, like when you have a priority damage target, but still need to kick, nice to see someone else doing it. I should link them this.
Watching you, since your first rating video. You are just awesome mate. I love how detailed you describe stuff, not just putting it out there. I really, really appreciate your videos and the Intel you give on higher m+ keys and your own thoughts. Keep pumping out those videos, thanks for your effort and content dratnos. Greetings from Germany :)
The biggest issue with kicking I find is people doubling up on the same mob and kicking at the same time! The thing I like most about your plater profile is I can see who last interrupted which helps too know your turn in the interupt order :)
Great vid! I use a ton of focus macros on my spriest, basically for most of my dmg spells as well as interrupts. Really helps in cleave fights like second FH but also many mythic bosses with add spawns. Press the key = use it on target, alt+key = use it on focus target. This makes the spell fit into 1 keybound macro, which saves space. Made my gameplay so much smoother.
I use combination of those methods: macro for focus on mouseover and abilities on focus. So even in the middle of the fight you can quickly mouseover mob that you will have to CC and focus kick/stun/blind it when the time comes. Used that always since it's a pvp habit. Mouseover interrupt must be something ranged dps would use, i believe it's way easier to do that from decent range.
Yeah mouseover interrupt is a lot harder in melee because there's a bunch of nameplates and mobs stacked up. I use focus for pummel/storm bolt in mythic +
Good tip and video! Im personally using a macro that when i Kick i will Focus that target and any future kicks will go on my focus target, Unless i use "Shift" as a modifier, in wich case it will go to my "Current Target". No only that it also clears any "Focus Target" i have set if i press Ctrl and use the same keybind. This macro serves as to save keybinds. Any modifier can be changed around as u want if u are more familiar with other modifier setups. Here is the macro i use if anyone wants it: (change SPELL into whatever ability you want to use with it) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #showtooltip SPELL /focus [@focus,exists,nodead] null; [@target,exists,nodead] /cast [mod:shift,@target,exists,harm,nodead] SPELL; [@focus,exists] SPELL /clearfocus [mod:ctrl]
Been using this macro for years. /cast [@mouseover,harm][@focus,mod:shift][] Kick Will kick current target, if you hold shift it will kick focus target or you can just mouseover a target and kick.
I actually have something better going on (in my opinion) for focus kicks. i use a mouseover>set focus macro, " /focus mouseover " that way im able to change my focus target mid pull fairly easily without having to actually target the mob first to /focus it. then i just have my focus kick and focus imprison macros handy, being able to cc and swap multiple focus targets while never leaving my priority target.
probably be better off using something like "/cast [@focus,mod:shift,exists,nodead] [] Kick" That way you can just kick your focus by holding Shift and your existing target otherwise. That way you don't need to eat up 2 keybinds
@Dratnos great vid, could you make one on how/when to call kicks in discord for tough packs such as the teeming/defilers/deathspeaker or a fortified version where one volley going through is a certain wipe before 3rd boss in underott.
I use a more mouseover reliant setup but I do wonder, is there a way for nameplates to ''show on top'' when a cast is being done? So when a mob is casting the nameplate of that mob goes on top, would be really useful if you pull more than a few mobs.
hello , ty for the video , just a small question that ive ben looking for its answer everywhere please , macros in general dont work for me idk why , can someone help
i must be missing something cause the WA is not showing up at all when i focus/target on something. i think it has to do with changing the animation URL. I dont understand coding :/
Hello :) ty so much for sharing this, it worked very well for me! I try to mouse over kick, and it was a mess, lol! Can you link me the WA that shows if you're close enough to kick the focus target, please? Again, tysm for the video 🖤
best thing to do is /tricks party1 which is the leader of the party. Just make sure to tell someone to put lead on the tank before the key starts, but usually the tank is leader anyway. This is the one i use - #showtooltip /cast [@mouseover, help] [@party1, help] [targettarget, help] Tricks of the Trade It prioritizes mouseover first, then party leader, then the target of your current target. So if you ever needed to use tricks on a frost mage in a the first pull in tol dagor maybe, you could still do it with the same binding.
If I've set up a focus macro via keybinds and press it, and don't have Plater.. Any other methods to show that I've actually have that target in focus? I use KUI atm
you want to use "/cast [@TankName] tricks of the trade" macro. Just quick edit on your macro before dungeon starts and you good to go. You can use several lines of that code in your macro for regular tanks and edit one line for randoms. Good luck
hey, new to M- scene an just wondering, how do you know who to kick an when, I get casters with big dmg an CC etc - but without memorising every monster in a dungeon... is there an addon or?
If you really interested in that, you gotta remember them. You don't have to remember ALL of them and ALL the cast the cast off, but certainly have to remember all the important ones. Even the there is some kind of addon for that, it is easier to just remember. Usually when you start getting into new dungeons you watch what trash does there, watch all debuffs they implement and what casts they do. Very soon you will see what is really important and you will remember it naturally.
Method dungeon tools shows mobs abilities (i think). But mainly this is why i cant get to playing wow atm. cba to learn all the trash abilities, mob/pack prio, boss mechanics, all over again like in legion. You gotta play them all, and do them enough times to remember each and every mob.
@@Phailox well, yes. You have to learn thing before you start to do it properly. It applies to everything in your life. A while ago i was playing csgo pretty well, got my GE rank, but to keep your skills up you hate to practice a lot, spend time on it to keep a good shape and at one point i realized that i can't spend that much time on it no more and i simply left csgo. It just how it is. Every activity takes time to get good at it.
@@fragiquerence I get what u're saying. But if u play an expansion from the getgo, u gradually learn from heroics, mythic, then mythic+, and "slowly" build up the keys. If u jump in mid expansion, u outgear normal, heroic and mythic in a day. So u are basically thrown into mythic+ at the start. Which in turn leaves u with a huge information deficit, and an even steeper learning curve. U basically get thrown into one shot mechanics from the start with 0 information other than a dungeon journal which is as detailed as a white wall.
@@Phailox it is hard, indeed. In that situation it's probably better to watch some m+ guides from reasonable people (including Dratnos himself) and just pick up information instead of figuring out all by yourself. But yes, that is harsh, especially if you live in pug world. Cruel as hell, dude, and there is not much you can do about it.
Im not sure if anyone still watches these comments but Id like to get a wa that auto assigns icons to priority targets per dungeon, and just then just tell my group... mage get x interrupt, rogue get circle interrupt... anyone have anything for this? @dratnos
Really? Tough it was something innovative... Focus interrupts is something super basic, we even have focus keybinds since cata I belive, there is no need to make macro for rogues or other non caster, only macro utility in that case could be for a caster or healer so they can stop their current cast so they are not prevented of using interrupts.
Here's the WA that shows if your kick is in range! wago.io/eFy47RDEf

what is the weakaura that shows CD timer for the mobs abilities?
So helpful. Thanks!

there is a keybind for "focus target" -- I use CTRL-F -- which saves you having to create a dedicated /focus macro button.

What kind of macro do you use for tricks? I always focus the tank and use a tricks focus target but I would rather try the focus for kicks

In a perfect world you could use a simple @targettarget macro, since in paper monsters are always targeting the tank. But that's a perfect world.

can you add a link to your WA's for the kick setup
Does it auto kick without click on skill ?

is there any somewhat easy way to copy your entire UI with addon Settings and Everything? I'd love to have it and start from there
Using profiles, he upload his save profile on the ui and you just paste it.
How do you make it so mobs have shortened names? Like instead of Merciless Juggernaut it just says Juggernaut
I’m bad with macros but could u make a macro to be able to mouseover cast target focus
